There isn't one. An Aeroplane, or Airplane for those on the other side of the pond, is an Aircraft as is a balloon, airship and glider (and if you believe our CAA, as is a hovercraft).
In my younger days we were taught that "aircraft" referred to anything, aerostat or aerodyne, that moved through the air and aeroplane referred to aerodynes only. As they say these days, the clue is in the name - and "plane" is a term for "wing" as in mainplane, tailplane etc.
Not sure what the US usage implies

Could be - the basic layout with the turning areas at the runway threshold is pretty common in Turkey but the overhead posted in the challenge looks as if it's pretty old - there's a great big terminal area on the NW side of the runway now according to GE. Street View imagery is 2014 and doesn't show the terminal but the vertical 2019 shot shows a hexagonal shape similar to the challenge. Google just shows a grotty old tower but the attached link shows the new tower

It is Canakkale. The whole airport was redeveloped around 2014 including a re-laid runway and the new terrminal. The overhead I posted dates from around that time.
OH it is.

Was someone having a laugh when they chose a field 15 miles from the city centre and named it Nottingham Heliport?

Asturias56

To be fair it's only about 15 minutes out from the centre - and the well heeled all live on that side of town as well

have you seen London Stansted or London Oxford...................... they're well over 50 miles out

IIRC the old Spitting Image TV show had Ryanair advertising "London Mt Pleasant -easier to get to than Stansted, less delays that Heathrow"

Then there was the re-naming of East Midlands to Nottingham East Midlands about 20 years ago.
Caused some confusion with UPS crews looking at Tollerton.
Also, the the nearest city is Derby and it's in Leicestershire.
