Si, señor, it is indeed the old flying boat base at Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/nw969/Do24.jpg

I can recall staying at the nearby Hotel Illa D'Or and watching those Do24s chugging about in the late 1960s. If the water was calm, they used to have to charge around the bay to stir it up a little before taking off.

A champagne cocktail in 'Bar Katy' cost 1/- back then! Sadly Katy herself passed away about 40 years later.

Kalgoorlie, Western Australia?

I should say the old Kalgoorlie, as it doesn't look like this now! The photo is south-up; the entire airfield was moved in the 1970's about a mile to the south. All that remains of the original airfield now is the readiness platform (?) at the southern end of Rwy 35, the terminal area/aeradio buildings (top centre of photo) while the two shiny hangars (left of centre at the top of the photo) are on the hardstanding that was the wartime site of 4AD's four Bellman hangars. The rest is covered in suburbia now...

If correct, Open House please...

I think the flying boat is a Nord 1401 Noroit. The location is the flood damaged French Naval base at Frejus-St.Raphael. On December 2nd, 1959, the Malpasset dam burst causing wide-spread flooding, which included the water aerodrome pictured.

Having looked at some pictures of Hex River Valley I can see why you might think that. Wearing my geologist's hat, I think I would have started looking in South Africa too.

However, this aerodrome is not in that part of Gondwanaland. Max Tow is closer ;) Here's the front lawn of the resort:

Dora-9,

Yes, I thought it was Skippy, too, but I don't see any butcher birds in the trees. ;)

The airstrip and resort at Wilpena Pound, SA. The airstrip picture must have been taken after a big wet. I went there once and it was a typical dry, dusty outback scene.

I knew as soon as I posted that picture of the resort, you or one of your Ozzie mates would get it.

Wilpena Pound is a spectacular eroded syncline in the Flinders Ranges. The airstrip is in the flat, yellowish area in the centre right. The white area at the top left is the salt flats of Lake Torrens.
