No evidence of conventional lower struts.

RegDep

Mate:

It was a cantilever.

Well, I needed to get the people away from under the aeroplane, so I blurred the rest, too. Not very skillfully, I am afraid :\ The "extra" L/G strut should probably not be there. Maybe it was something that one of the guys under the aeroplane had in his hand….

The picture has not been reversed. And the text is not German. The file name says in German "Screenshot" :E.

A blonde walks into a bank in Johannesburg and asks for the loans dept.
She says she´s going to Europe on business for three weeks and needs to borrow R10,000.

The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for the loan, so the blonde hands over the keys to a new Rolls Royce. The car is parked on the street in front of the bank, she has the papers and everything checks out.

The bank agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan.

The bank manager and its staff all enjoy a good laugh at the blonde for using a R500,000 Rolls as collateral against a R10,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then proceeds to drive the Rolls into the bank´s underground garage and parks it there.

Two weeks later, the blonde returns, repays the R10,000 and the interest, which comes to R141.66. The bank manager says, "Miss, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow R10,000?"

The blond replies ... "Where else in Johannesburg can I park my car for two weeks for only R141.66 and expect it to be there when I return?"
Finally, a gifted blonde!!!!

Some blondes are not so dumb........

I sure did. It was "ein helles Pils" of their own brewing. Not fully clear but very good. They run an establishment in the same block where I live, and are well frequented. Once in a while we get a round or two on the house. I kind of like that. Nice food, too. Very Berliner - general German. That's what I go there lo look for. Exactly Brian!

"The same German-Spanish team that also designed the HA-100, designed later a light-weight supersonic interceptor with delta shaped wings designated as HA-300. For aerodynamic testing, a manned glider version was built by Hispano as the HA.P-300. However, the first flight was aborted soon after lift off behind a CASA HE-111 towing plane because the plane showed to be highly unstable. No further attempts were made to fly it further.

See, skwinty, a challenge must be validated by the poster before the solver can post a new one.
Else... You'll get a reprimand from LM! There must be order in this thread. ;)

If one cannot monitor a challenge/hasn't one ready/must dash away, can declare an Open House, even before confirmation (the formula, in that case, is "OH if right"), but never can a challenge be posted before a confirmation.

If the poster is not online for a certain number of hours (12 I believe), an agreement can be reached among Ppruners to validate the challenge in absence of the original poster, but this happens in exceptional cases and it must be evident that the guess is correct.

skwinty
19th Aug 2011, 21:01
Cool, I will get to learn the rules.

Right now it's bed time for me

RegDep
19th Aug 2011, 21:01
The rule is that the poster of the challenge has to call the winner, before the cracker goes on. Only in the case of delayed call (over 12 hours) a quorung of "resident PPRuNers" can call the winner or declare open house. See the guidelines in the link http://www.pprune.org/aviation-history-nostalgia/311746-what-cockpit-what-aerodrome-latest-lists.html#post3884576.

The heck with the reprimands. It is just to avoid anarchy……

Lightning Mate

Near Hurn Bridge just South of the airport.

Is yours a twin jet bomber?

but there is nothing in the aircrafts description that I have found to say what they are.

They appear to have little lateral depth, so I'm wondering if they are simply experimental wing end-plates.

skytrain10
20th Aug 2011, 13:53
Is yours a twin jet bomber? Not exactly...twin prop transport. Props themselves hidden by the fuselage.

so I'm wondering if they are simply experimental wing end-plates. Could be...seeing if I can find out.

Lightning Mate
20th Aug 2011, 14:08
If it's propeller driven, then I can only assume they are two-bladed, or else one blade would be visible somewhere.

skytrain10
20th Aug 2011, 14:16
Yep, 2 bladed props...they were in the horizontal position in the photo.

To make life interesting....this is the prototype of an aircraft we have had before, BUT it bears little resemblance to the production model. So I figure I am justified in posting!

Something.
Partly I'm busy with some domestic hassles, partly I don't know what to say.
I can't imagine why a good and stable high wing design should be changed into a floating-prone low wing.
First thought when I first saw the silhouette was "maritime recon".
Second was that the nose gear looks like the one on a B-29.
Third was third world country.

Digging around in Aerofiles I find that it was a rebuild of the Culver PQ-8 target drone.

Good morning HP!

What bothered me in the challenge was that I thought the air intake was below the cone (like in Model V) but I was unsure if you could hide the gull-wing in a silhouette.

I looked at the drone-story, but all pictures had the intake as for an horisontal-opposed, and the landing gear didn't seem retractable.

OK mate.

Reg and I do this via private e-mail because then we don't need to waste time with Photobucket.

PM for you shortly with my address.

BTW - you will need an abbreviated Adobe Photoshop programme, but you'll find it interesting anyway.

Reg is my star pupil.

PM airborne.
