Of which this is probably the best known......but you still have to identify the original post as well.

G'day Graeme.

Looked earlier but didn't get past the clue:

I would have been embarrassed asking for a clue for the clue-on-the-wall.
Now I'm embarrassed, anyway. :O

I see it must be the CFM Streak Shadow.

....MiG-8? G'day Karl. :) I suspect less well known than the MiG mate. Only one built and and I found only one site on the net where it was shown, where the poor guy who built it is/was trying to sell the project - possibly in the early 2000s. This dates back to the late nineties from the USA and was powered by a 118 hp Subaru engine. It was based on another American untralight from the eighties called the Falcon.

If no luck, let me know and I will reveal this and move on. Cheers.

Open House? Here is one to keep the thread moving:-
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c67/sabamel/Airquiz35_zps33fb2ed0.jpg

Have tried to post several challenges on "What Cockpit" but all could be found doing a search on Google Image. I really think the availability of Google Image is killing off these quiz type threads. Is there a method of blocking such access?

Noyade

Good morning Mel. :)

Are we looking forward on the Lockheed Ventura/Harpoon? Are those hurricane whipped palms in the distance?

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6493/img664o.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/img664o.jpg/)

Is there a method of blocking such access? I wouldn't think so mate.

It's hard to beat - I've tried sepia, painting black patches on the corners, various lines across the image (bit rude to horizontally rotate a cockpit image or make it a silhouette :)) but nothing seems to get by it. I've even cropped a net image by 75% and it still finds it. Other than something you have that has never been uploaded I can't think of anything else.

I'm now in hospital I hope you're on the mend mate. :ok:

Cheers.

Morning Mel.

It can't be blocked but there is a way to stop it finding images providing you are adept with Photoshop. I have managed it on several occasions. Mind you, if the person trying to identify the image has Photoshop as well, it is possible to undo your efforts.

It was from USA

ICT_SLB
21st Jan 2013, 02:15
From the US Naval Institute:
The XF9F-1 was designed as a two-seat night fighter with four wing-mounted turbojet engines, a competitive design to the Douglas F3D Skyknight. Four powerplants were needed because of the low power available in contemporary jet engines. However, the British had developed the far more powerful Rolls-Royce Nene engine, which produced 5,000 pounds thrust and was adopted for the aircraft, now designated XF9F-2.
I thought the oval nacelles were for 2 x twin engines (like the B-45) so my guess is the Grumman XF9F-1. Sorry I don't have anything for a new challenge if I'm right so reluctantly OH.

As Goodyear produced over 5,000 Corsairs under contract from Vought, I wonder if the GA-16 wasn't inspired in whole or in part by Vought designers. I'm not discounting the creative ability of Goodyear's own engineers, but I believe there was probably some influence from Vought in this design. Vought produced some real post-war stinkers, like the Pirate and Cutlass. The GA-16 at least looks like it would perform more than adequately.

List updated today up to and including 18 March 2013. Unfortunately the Mods in their wisdom have decided that this thread should no longer be a "Sticky". I will endeavour to try to keep it on the same page.

Morning Mel.

Judging by the speed of the thread these days (last post 8 Mar) you won't be too busy.

Morning David. I fear you are more than correct. Unfortunately Google Image has killed these threads. Some such as the silhouette thread it is possible to combat Google but others it is frustrating finding a challenge only then to find it is easy to identify by the use of Google Image.
