I already looked at post 9489 and concluded it eliminated Asia and Australia, but that is all.

Unfortunately I have to go in 20 minutes - still not internet at the new place!

Have a pleasant evening.

Not much of a chance then is there!

All I have established is that it's Russian.

Evening Ken. I can't find that on the net, but toggling back and forth to page 474 and comparing Martin's profile to your photo - looks like a match.

It's a "confirmed" from me. :)

Morning Graeme. The picture I posted is from the net (despite it's appearance) although I confess to having first identified it as a likely candidate from the description in Osprey's excellent publicaition on Russian aircraft. There is a 3-view on the same website.

How's things with you? And how's the pc?

I'll prep a challenge shortly.

All good - at the moment. Girl from Manila (Telstra Bigpond) tells me that if I don't regularly "Clear History" the browsing speed slows down? You believe that?

You all good?

Osprey's excellent publicaition

What page?

Girl from Manila (Telstra Bigpond) tells me that if I don't regularly "Clear History" the browsing speed slows down? You believe that? Yep - have had first hand experience of that - not the girl from Manila that is - the bit about regularly clearing out the history:) Also worth removing any programmes you don't use as well as deleting old files which just clog up the pc.

All good hear - work is keeping me pretty busy. Just about to look for a new car to replace Sue's.

What page? 510:ok: Figured it would have to be something that there was no picture of as Martin know's I have the book:)

the bit about regularly clearing out the historyhttp://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/smile.gif The thing is though, I restored the PC to factory settings and the problem was still there. I mean how much history can you accumulate in a few hours?

skytrain10

how on earth did you find it? Well, it had been established it was Russian, so I had a look at the previously mentioned book, found a brief description of the Impulse, and then looked for it on the web. Ironically I found it on a website I had previously saved but forgot to look at! In otherwords you didn't need a book to find it:)

Design commenced in 1953, and first flew in 1958. Fitted with an Italian CNA engine which reportedly had problems that resulted in development of the aircraft not going beyond the prototype stage.

Lightning Mate

Morning Ken.

It is indeed a jet-powered glider. Not experimental, just a jet-powered version.

Lightning Mate
22nd Jun 2012, 10:44
I don't think many of the jet-powered version were built.

Although I can't find any information, I think the bulge is a small fuel tank.

The photograph shows it to be under the wing root, not the fuselage - therefore there must be another on the other side.

Not been able to look in since this morning...busy workwise unfortunately.

I kept looking at the Caproni-Vizzola A-21 series of gliders, but the A-21J and A-21SJ featured retractable jets.....however....I think this is a one-off A-21J that was converted by Lockheed/Mississippi State University to a fixed jet arrangement.

I guess LM has closed down now for the night, and no one around to second my suggestion. Closing down now, and not around tomorrow, so if correct it will have to be Open House. Good night.

I think this is a one-off A-21J that was converted by Lockheed/Mississippi State University to a fixed jet arrangement.
Can't find LM's photo but the general layout looks like the Caproni and I have found mention of the Lockheed/Mississippi conversion in a few sources which also mention the two under-wing fuel tanks.

Happy to confirm, but I don't know if it received a different designation?

Still here Graeme:ok: But was just about to turn the pc off when I thought I'd have one last look. David's photo is on Minijets website: The Minijets Website: Caproni A21J Calif (http://www.minijets.org/index.php?id=37) where you'll see it referred to as a A-21J modified by Lockheed. I did a bit more investiagation and it is the only one and was purely experimental. Not sure if it should be classified as American or Italian?

Anyway take a look at the link and I'll leave you confirm or not - as I said it will have to be OH anyway.

skytrain10
26th Jun 2012, 08:11
Morning, no takers overnight so a couple of clues to start the day:
- Original design was by a civilian aero club in 1955, but did not fly until either 1958 or 1959. 5 aircraft produced.
- Walter Minor engine upgraded from the original 85hp unit to105hp.

Martin, one correction to my comment yesterday, I note that a variant of the this design was fitted with a Lycoming engine. However the external appearance of that aircraft differs quite significantly from this one.

Ridge Runner

Learning from Trevor, David? i.e. zipping in with the correct answer!!! Yes, it is the De Bernardi M.d.B 02 Aeroscooter.

The De Bernardi M.d.B. 02 Aeroscooter is a two seat light sport aircraft designed by Mario De Bernardi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_De_Bernardi) as a follow on to the single seat Partenavia P.53 Aeroscooter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partenavia_P.53_Aeroscooter).De Bernardi developed the all metal single seat Partenavia Aeroscooter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partenavia_Aeroscooter) earlier. Seeking to improve the design, the M.d.B. 02 Aeroscooter was developed as a two seat aircraft to be built by CAP in Bergamo
