Morning Trevor. Working weekend unfortunately, so not had much opportunity to look in. Would your latest be the CANT 26 from Italy? Bit of a long shot as so far have only found a poor quality photo, but it looks about right :)

Morning Ken,

Don't work too hard mate :)

Sorry, but it's not from Italy

skytrain10
4th Mar 2012, 11:19
Don't work too hard mate Unfortunately it seems to have been a crazy couple of weeks. Ever hopeful things will calm down - just in time for the Summer season when it all gets manic again.

Sorry, but it's not from Italy Good job I kept looking then! I feel somewhat more confident about the PZL-5 :)

You've every reason to be confident Ken, 'coz it is the PZL-5 from Poland :D

Going to be fairly busy away from the computer myself this afternoon, but I have to keep an eye on "what Cockpit" too, so I'll trawl for yours when I can.

Is it another French fighter ? Hispano-Suiza engine,

4th Mar 2012, 14:41
Afternoon David:)

Not a Nieuport design.

skytrain10
5th Mar 2012, 08:04
No progress with this one, so a clue. First flew in 1918. Never went in to production.

Lightning Mate
5th Mar 2012, 08:48
Good morning Ken.

Do I see an external radiator below the cockpit?

skytrain10
5th Mar 2012, 08:58
Morning David:)

Do I see an external radiator below the cockpit? Not that I can see. Looking at a photo I believe what you are looking at is just a pipe of some sort. Don't know its purpose.

Lightning Mate
5th Mar 2012, 09:09
Oh..!

If it was the V8 Hisso then it would have to be cooled somehow, hence my thought.

Neither can I see any obvious armament, so did it have a gun firing through the spinner, or was it not designed as a fighter?

Noyade
5th Mar 2012, 09:09
Descamps 27?

Open house if it is.

Lightning Mate
5th Mar 2012, 09:12
Evening smartass. :)

So it was indeed a radiator on each side.

skytrain10
5th Mar 2012, 09:16
David, I was evidently looking in the wrong place. I thought what you were referring to was the protusion beneath the fuselage. Sorry yes, there are radiators either side of the cockpit.

It was designed as a fighter, and fitted with 2 synchronised guns.

Lightning Mate
5th Mar 2012, 09:21
Look up Ken. :ok:

skytrain10
5th Mar 2012, 09:27
Sorry David, I am working on a high speed broadband line that is giving me a speed of approx 50 kbps at present so replying is a slow process:(

Yes, Graeme, it is the Descamps 27 aka C1:ok:. Just the one built but development was abandoned in 1919 in favour of the Nieuport 29.

More information here: Descamps 27 (http://1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/FarnikClement/9305.htm)

Noyade has declared Open House.

Blimey mate - move house! They've been working on the lines around here so hopefully things will improve. Just somewhat frustrating at present!

I agree. We're lucky here.

Ken,

Wanna one?

skytrain10
5th Mar 2012, 10:21
We're lucky here. Dare I say it, but we are lucky here too! There are places just a couple of miles from us that have no Broadband and are not likely to get it because it is too expensive to put the lines in. Normally the download speed here is about 900-1000 kbps - not great by most peoples standards I guess, but good enough for most things, unless you spend your days watching videos:)

If you've got something mate go for it....I can't research online much but I still have books! No UAV's though!!

Lightning Mate

Lightning Mate
5th Mar 2012, 17:22
'evening all.

Well that tail should be instantly recognisable....

It is to me, a PIK, but nothing else fits.:\

Ridge Runner
5th Mar 2012, 18:43
Nothing to do with Jodel, Ken. This is the only image I have found of it and so, to me, the wings are staight, not cranked up at the ends.

Not a PIK, David

Lightning Mate
6th Mar 2012, 09:05

Ridge Runner
6th Mar 2012, 09:10

Ridge Runner

Lightning Mate
6th Mar 2012, 09:23

Tusa?

Ridge Runner
6th Mar 2012, 10:23
Boys, sorry but somehow PPrune has lost my confirmation that it was the RR-11! :( Ken has CONTROL!!!! IMPA is an interesting company!!!! Wesworld - IMPA (Compania Industria Metalurgica & Plastica S.A.) (http://wesworld.jk-clan.de/thread.php?postid=107325)

Lightning Mate
6th Mar 2012, 10:26
This one is flagged as the Tusa, but I would have given it to Ken anyway because he did all the work. :)

http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu82/Lightning_29/533059.jpg

Ridge Runner
6th Mar 2012, 10:39
Yes, David, clearly the one! :) Ken just got in a touch earlier!

skytrain10
6th Mar 2012, 11:01
Somewhat confused. No photo of the aircraft on the link you provided Martin. Ironically in my searches I assumed it wasn't the Tusa simply because quite a lot had been produced. Anyway it certainly appears to be the Tusa, assuming the source of that picture is correct, so I believe control should be with LM.

Lightning Mate
6th Mar 2012, 11:08
That's nice of you Ken, but as I said earlier you did the work and finding the Tusa was straightforward.

The Tusa and RR-11 are not, as far as I can see, the same aeroplane at all.

I feel control should rest with you mate. :ok:

Lightning Mate
6th Mar 2012, 11:57
Martin's gone mate, so it's all yours.:)

skytrain10
6th Mar 2012, 11:58
Thanks David, that's kind of you. I am still a little puzzled though - so is there a photo of the RR-11 anywhere? Obviously at some point it was on the website that Martin referred to, but it appears to have disappeared?

Anyway, here is the next challenge:

http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/ii457/kendyer/c511ca41.jpg

Lightning Mate
6th Mar 2012, 12:01
I am unable to find a photo of the RR-11 anywhere, but the Tusa appears on more than one Argentinian site.

As for your latest.......

Why don't you go across to the "Challenge" thread, where TC has left a juicy clue. ;)

skytrain10
6th Mar 2012, 14:13
I did look but really not much good on close ups. Clearly there is a clue there which did make me check a photo of what I thought it might be - but it wasn't!

Lightning Mate
6th Mar 2012, 14:21
What special tie do I have which cannot be purchased?;)

Ridge Runner
6th Mar 2012, 15:06
Ah, Ken, there lies a problem. My original image, not from the internet but a very detailed ext, refers to it being the IMPA RR-11. One built only. It says the Tusa was a follow-on from the shown machine, which was the prototype only. Therefore, in my mind, not the Tusa. RR

Edit: I just checked. There was one RR-11 (shown). It was built and first flown in 1942 and designer by Alfredo Davinz Ferrer. Built of Spruce and Birch there was just one. Later IMPA-designed the Tu-Sa, contracted in 1943 with a stipulated 25 aircraft production run. The RR-11 was powered by a Lycoming O-145-B2.

skytrain10
6th Mar 2012, 16:20
Interesting Martin. The way it is painted it looks as though it was a prototype, so it does make sense that it is the RR-11. Nice challenge mate.....now we just need to find a photo of a Tu-sa, which considering 25 were made you would have thought there would be one or two around?

So any thoughts on mine? A somewhat more recent design.

Ridge Runner
6th Mar 2012, 17:06
I think I found a photo of a Tu-sa but I lost the magazine it is in!!!! I did some sorting last weekend! :(

skytrain10

Morning.

Firstly, Graeme, glad to know all is ok and that the defences held. Amazing pictures. I reckon Mt Ararat is the place to be though - mind you, if you have thunder storms you could be a little exposed. Be kind of ironic to be safe on the mountain top and then get struck by lightening!

Back to the challenge, not from America (north or south), nor is it from Russia.

SincoTC
11th Mar 2012, 20:48
Afternoon Karl,

A well timed return, it is indeed the Manicatide RM-9 :D

Light aircraft RM- 9 was designed by Romanian engineer Radu Manikatide (Radu Manicatide). Radu Manicatide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radu_Manicatide)

The plane was a single seat with a frame made of wood and equipped with a 32 hp Praga motor.

The aircraft was built in 1942 at the IAR factory in Brasov where he worked and it first flew there the same year. Further tests were postponed due to the war and only resumed in 1945.
