Has anybody figured out what it means when an application cannot be edited anymore?
Has anybody been invited for an assesment while his application was "view" only?
Please guys if anybody knows let me know.... thank you.

Sadly I was not successful That's bad because I was really positive about the assessment, not over confident but, you know... My sim mate was very surprised as he feared same fate for him too. But fortunately he passed happy for him.
Probably the problem was my old style MCC dated 10+ years, so no standard fancy acronims like DODAR and stuff like that, just standard call outs and common sense...not enough maybe
I will try again next year, hope they will not wait another 7 years to call me back
Next time I'll do an MCC refresh. It's not the age, it's not the age, it's not the age, it's not the age, it's not the age, it's not the age....

Good luck to all of you outta here :ok:

Hey guys,
Anyone received the phone call "interview" before upload all the documentation? At the end of the my call, I was advised to upload all the documentation, and after that I would be contacted by email, and I don't received any date for assessment.. Do you think this is a regular situation?

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,
Anybody knows if an MCC/JOC course with CAE (Ryanair Sop) may actually help in having an interview/assessment with Ryanair?
Thanks.

RedBullGaveMeWings
24th Apr 2016, 11:31
No, actually you might stand a little more chance, according to some rumours I heard, if you go to Simtech in Dublin. These are only rumours, actually they don't really care where you did your MCC/JOC as long as you have it done.

Live your dream
24th Apr 2016, 17:19
The fact of doing the MCC/JOC with CAE will only give you a good knowledge about RYR Sop's but will not give you any advantage at the time of getting an interview as they told me. IT will help you if you get an invitation because you will feel ready.

RYR used to use Simtech's sim that is why many guys from Simtech got hired, because they were more familia with the sim. But Simtech will not give you anything else than a high quality MCC/JOC as I was also told by many friends.

Cheers guys.

Hi guys!

As it seems the application form and system has been updated so that now they want you to upload various documents. For you guys that have uploaded the requested documents, did you get a confirmation of succesful uploads or anything?
Because I did the uploads for all de mandatory documents plus a few more, but still when I log into my account, that red text mentioning the required documents need to be uploaded exists... I sent them an e-mail asking about this but I haven't recieved an answer yet..

Any toughts?

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. I logged back in to check of any updates, and found I needed to upload documents. So once I uploaded them, I got no email of confirmation and the red text is still up there. So I have no idea what's going on! Applied late Feb and still no sign of a reply :(

Hi All,

Just wanted to share my situation.

I went to create an account with CAE to apply for Ryanair as we are all supposed to.

The problem is that having the system changed from last time I did not notice that I had to upload all that bunch of documents.

After 4 weeks wondering why I was not getting any call, I went on pprune and noticed that everyone was talking about those documents to be uploaded. I went back to check my CAE account and found the page where all the documents needed to be uploaded. (yes dumb me)

I think is ridicules that they allow you to submit your application with nothing from stopping you from doing so without having uploaded the documents. A WARNING would have been appreciated.

All I can say is that when I was about to upload my documents, I went and press EDIT on the Training Request page and a phrase came out saying :"you cannot edit your application because is under review".

All I am thinking now is that I am screwed because CAE went through my application but didn't find any documents and therefore trashed me somewhere.

The day after, I opened my account again and this time that message did not appear so I was able to edit my account infos and upload the documents requested.

I am not too sure if now CAE has received an alert about me uploading the documents but I really don't think so.

am I trashed for life now ?!

Maybe it was better you did not email them at all. I know about people that have been called even after the deadline. Maybe they got bored about people that complain for everything. Do not forget how many applications they receive daily!!!! Anyone had same experience of Rave4B????

Is pretty strange that they gave you that answer Rave4B, there have been recently many problems directly related to the CAE system,as far as I am concerned, with many guys that after having uploaded their document they found out that the system hadn't submitted any of those document.

Hello everybody!

I have been told by the guys that passed the assessment with me and that are starting in in these months the TR (while I postponed my course to October) that RYR needs the Identity History Summary (no arrest certificate) for those people who spent more than 6 months with no interruption in the USA.

In order to obtain that the FBI needs you to send to them your fingerprints.

Here comes the trouble: in Italy no government office would take my fingerprints and release me the hardcopy (the law here does not allow that, as far as the officers told me). Does anybody know if it is possible to do that in any other country in Europe?

Thank you.

Hey everyone,

I'm approaching the end of my flight-training.
I was woundering if anyone knows what Ryanair' views on High-School grades are.
I didn't do extremely well, and am also missing a few classes to be able to get my full HS diploma. Is this a problem?
I am planning on taking those classes when time permits, but I am therefore woundering if I should do that before applying for Ryanair or if I can apply as soon as I'm done with training.
When I'm finished with my flight training (Intergrated course) I'll have about 300 hours where of 150 are PIC (I had my PPL before starting my course, that's why I'll have more than the Intergrated course minimum requirement).
So say I have 300 TT, 150 PIC, CPL/ME-IR, JOC/MCC, 1st time passes on all ATPL exams (age 19). Do I stand a chance getting a job with Ryanair?

Thanks for answering!

I have the same problem with HS diploma, do you had some problem with ryanair or they dont care?

I passed my assessment a few weeks ago, I'm really confident about the outcome, i had use the question bank from skyinstructor.com, i looked the latestpilotjobs as well and decided to go for the first one because they have a free version so i saw was i was purchasing.

Ryan was suposed to hire 800 pilots this year, from january they lost 400, so... IT IS THE TIME!

Hi everyone,

I got the assessment last week in Hangar 2. Pretty straight forward.

I started with the sim.

Sim scenario

EGGP 27 WAL2T
Amended clearance, straight ahead until 3DME, right turn hdg 360° , climbing 4000ft.
Some GH exercices with climb, descent, acceleration, deceleration, turns.
Position fixing with QDM/QDR from LVP NDB
Interceptions QDM/QDR to NDB
Approaching the hold, fire in cabine (Fly/Navigate/Communicate, Transfer Control, DODAR + NITS, Radar u/s, Full NDB ILS 27).

More or less the same for my partner

HR Interview

Just 25'

- What do you think about your Sim session ?
- Why did you do your training in UK?
- Why did you do your MCC with Simtech?
- Do you have any brother/sister?
- Weaknesses?
- Why should we hire you?
- What do you know about Ryanair?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Do you have friends working for RYR?
- When can you start the TR?
- Can you pay for it?

- How does a wing stall?
- What are the engines of the 737?
- How many seats in the 737?
- What is the wing sweep angle of the 737?

Waiting for the answer.

Do you know the average to get the answer ?

Good luck to everyone. ;-)

Just a quick check of a Tech question Ryanair seem to ask alot regarding swept wings. Has anybody been asked this exact or similar question

Why so important to prevent stall at the root of a swept back wing?

Somebody was telling me they ask this but maybe they were confused a little or is it a trick question , obviously for swept back wings we want the root to stall rather than the tip , which has a natural tendency to stall first which we prevent with various devices on our wings.
Would be great to hear feedback from people who were asked this.

Also many thanks to @alphavictor for his detailed account of the interview day, it greatly helps us all waiting for a call. And many thanks to all who have gotten back to me with such great advice and detail.

Hi guys, Anyone going to Dublin for the assessment the 1st of June?

I also read back in the forum this question: "What is the wing sweep angle of the 737?" Isn't this a too technical question for a cadet with no knowledge of the B737?
Like asking to face a smoke in cabin emergency during the sim check...
Maybe that was just for an experienced FO not for cadets...
Anyone knows something more about it?
Thanks

If that question is actually asked then I agree that it is a trick question. For a swept wing it is undersirable but natural for it to stall at the wing tips first. The tendency of a swept back wing to tip stall is due to the induced spanwise flow of the boundary layer from root to tip. We would prevent this with the use of auto slats, vortilons or fences.

@bellarte.1989 It's like homework. Now you know the question so look for the answer and the explanation. Not really tricky !

15th May 2016, 05:22
For the sweep angle of the 737, they just want to see if you have made some research on the aircraft they operate.
It is 25deg, they sometimes ask why 25 and not 27? Better compromise for aerodynamic efficiency and margin between low Mach buffet and high speed buffet.

I apply through the CAE cadet portal and finished my training 2 months ago. I am not type rated on the 737. Just 350h (SEP/MEP).

As previously said and judging by the number of people with the same 'issue', I am fairly sure that the 'upload documents' text in red is just a feature of the website/page rather than an error or indicator that documents haven't been uploaded. Read the rest of the thread, it's a complete lottery as to when or even, if, you'll be called for selection.

Hello everyone! I am interested about application for CAE Ryanair scheme, does anyone know max. number of attempts for ATPL test? I heard it is max. 1 failed even I heard also that they are many people with more than one failed exam.

Thank you in advance!

I got the same feedback

Currently, its not a MUST.. I know several people, who have failed one or more subjects and got the job anyway.
Just tell the truth if they ask you. They need pilots¡

] Thank you so much! That are great news! Can anyone advice if it is better to have B737 experience for simulator or to be only with MCC,and if I will have MCC made on 737sim, will they expect more from me than from someone who is flying the simulator for the first time?

Hi guys, I applied for Ryanair. In the list of documents that they ask to upload there is a "copy of CPL result (1st series; partial; 2nd series; etc)", but since I have already an ATPL licence, what do you suggest to do?
Amongst other things in the training request in the CAE profile they don't consider the possibility that one could have an ATPL, but only a CPL or nothing at all.
Thank you all.

For those who went to an assessment day with Ryanair, in the initial application, did you send a covering letter with your C.V.?

chris_mc87
18th May 2016, 07:56
Does anyone have information regarding whether or not it is beneficial to upload the flight school reports to your RYR CAE application.

The instructions state ' you are required to submit the following documents'
of which the flight school reports are not listed.

I took their instructions literally and only uploaded what was instructed.

My question is, has anyone been called without uploading the flight school reports and have people been called even though they have included them?

EC DKN

Ryanair has more than 380 Boeings and is up to have more than 500 in 2024! Boeings 737MAX 200 will start to arrive in 2017! If you take into account the number of aircrafts arriving and the massive leave they are suffering they will need a huge number of pilots for sure. However, there are plenty of pilots out there waiting for that call and wiling to pay...

Hi guys, if not a problem i would ask you some questions about this theme:
1)If you pass the interview, do you have any possibility to make a choice about the course date?
2)which payment method do they use and when do they want you to pay? before the course i suppose?
3)If, when you apply, you don't have the licences because you waiting to have 'em sent by the caa, could be this a problem?

Thank you and best of luck to everyone!

1. Yes
2. They want money. Not grain, not salt, not your tight sexy booty; Just cold cash. To be paid in full through bank tranfer before commencing training. They don't care if you stole it or went into debt.

For those of you guys who asked what kind of questions they're giving you on the phone interview;

Basically its just a test to see how good your english are.
I only got questions regarding my licenses and my latest flight ( the date of my latest flight, when I did my skilltest for the IR/ME/CPL etc.), and the validity of my IR/ME. And that was it! :p

If you get the email where it says that they will call you, just sit down and wait for the call. It can take one day or it can take two weeks.
They called me the very same day they send me that email... :ok:
Hi There, I got the same Phone call, but I haven't heard back from them. It was 14 days ago that they called me. When did they invite you to do the assesment? How many days afther the phone call?

Come on guys ! Base selection really ? They don't care about your base selection. They will ask you so many times to do your base requests if you get the job. 3 for LT and 5 for permanent. So Ta ke your ACE, sit down, relax, study and wait for the 1st contact from CAE.

Dear Applicant,

First of all, we would like to thank you for your interest in the CAE B737NG Type-Rating Program, for which your application is currently being considered.

We currently receive a high volume of candidates for our Type Rating Program and unfortunately we cannot offer a place to every candidate who applies to the course. Sorry iPhone corrector! Well, Ryanair made a conference last year explaining why the 50% of CPLs can not pass our assessment? They said it should be implemented a new way of pilot training at the end of it called MCC/JOC + LOFT! It's just what Kura has done since it was implemented. You need to pay by yourself and it doesn't guarantee nothing I guess... But anyway it's just what I found on Internet so probably someone could explain better what it is.

Hi MarvT,

What is done during this APC Programme? I can not find any information regarding this. Is there directly an interview scheduled after the MCC/JOC at Sky4u? Hoe is it done?

I also did the APC programme at SKY4U. Not as a preparation for RYR but as an additional Training to the MCC and a general screening preparation.

It consists of:
An initial CBT,
MCC,
JOC,
CRM,
and finally a LOFT Training.

Later on it helped me a lot to pass a screening for a Job on the 737, eventhough it was not RYR.

To be precise I did a course which was even a bit bigger than the APC but with almost the same content.
As far as I know it will take 3-4 weeks to go through the APC, which results in ~50h sim time (no guarantee for these numbers).

I did a course called NGC, which can be found on the SKY4U website. Unfortunately I can't remember the precice price and don't want to tell you something wrong. But I found it fair regarding the mass of sim time.

13th Jun 2016, 08:35
Hi everybody,
I want as well to share with you my experience, it was really straightforward for me.
Application on the cae program: 22nd of april
Received the call the 25th of May
Assessment the 3rd of June at simtech
Simulator part: I started as PM with a guy who wasn't really prepared.
At the beginning was Ok but as soon as we had the emergency he wasn't really able to deal with it and the assessor (strangely because I heard the opposite) wasnt helping us too.
After a while the assessor repositoned us 12 nm out and we landed.
As a PF we worked much better and after the emergency as soon as we started the procedure we were repositioned once again 12 nm out from the localizer eventhough we had done everything well comparing to the first part.
The interview was normal.
Hr part: strengths and weaknesses?, why ryanair?, how would you deal with a difficult captain?, talk about yourself?, how did you get into aviation?, how are you going to pay your tr?, how many ryanair bases?, how many 737s? How many flights per day?.
Technical question: Ac lenticular clouds, take off climb segments, flaps and slats, how many cc per seats in an aircraft, br reported in a metar (mist), adverse yaw, engine mounted on my previous mep aircraft (da42)
After 5 days I received the email and passed the assessment :O  .
My background is: 21 years old (finished my ratings the 9th of february), first time passes for both CPL/IR and first time passes for all the theorical subjects.
Cheers to everyone and PM me if you need more information.:ok:

Sorry for my very specific questions - I dont want to pollute this conversation - but I dont know how to write you in PM...

- During MCC (I did it in Simtech) we've learned pretty long before take-off briefing, should we do the same during the assessment ? It's also pretty detailled so if the partner is not familiar with it it's maybe not very useful (eg, "i will advance the thrust levers to 40%, you will call stabilized, I will then set the t-o thrust and call "set thrust", you will adjust the thrust levers and guard them and call "thrust set" etc etc etc with the next items, and the emergency brief)

- for the emergency, if it's about fire/smoke (apparently these are classics :P ) what are the correct actions to do ? Need to put O2 masks first ? then recall items and emergency checklist ?

Have a great day guys and good luck for all the ones waiting desperately (including me haha)

Hi guys,

like MarvT and Lanum I did the APC/NGC at SKY4u as well. It consists of a JOC/MCC part as well as theoretical CRM training. This all comes together in LOFT sessions. It’s a quite intense program if you want to take the most out of it.
I did it because I wanted to improve myself to pass an assessment. After I finished everything at SKY4u I applied for Ryanair and passed. Compared to my previous assessments I was very satisfied this time. At that time, it wasn’t a program for Ryanair specific but after that I passed three assessments.
As I said I did it to improve myself and with hard work I finally got the job with Ryanair. The program at SKY4u was a great opportunity and helped a lot.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I will write here the answer from the question of eeesprit because I have received different PM from people wanting the answer.
For the thrust management it's up to you guys. For my point of view the best method is the one written on the assessment briefing pack (As you said 40%, stabilized, ecc).
For the emergency I applied during the assessment this method:
1-The type of emergencies normally are: Smoke/Fire bomb on board or sick Passenger.
The CC will call you (If you are operating as a PF), The first thing to say to the CC is to stand-by and give the controls and radios to the PM.
Then you can speak with the CC, I had smoke coming from the aft cargo compartment and I recommended the CC to be ready to use the fire extinguisher, apply the appropriate procedure, monitor the situation (If any of you could recommend a better method would be really appreciated).
You have to say to the CC to stand-by because you have to discuss the situation and seek a solution with your colleague (This is very important in my opinion because it shows off good CRM)
2- Discuss with your colleague, the best decision is to land asap but first you have to talk with your PM (Never take a decision alone)
3Once you have discussed with your colleague, the Capt. should contact the ATC and use the May-day (For bomb on board and smoke/fire) or panpan (for the sick passenger), you have to request even the meteo conditions, explain situation and intentions and request if possible radar vectoring (Even though is highly probable that the radar will be not working that day).
4- Once both of you have decided that the meteo conditon are good and you are going to land, the PF should contact the CC to communicate the final decision, I recommend even to request fire fighting service on the ground or an ambulance in case of a sick passenger.
5-You normally make at this stage a short approach briefing and call for the appropriate checklist.
After that you take back the controls from the PM and you start your procedure.
As I said the assessor could help you out during the flight by freezing the sim or He couldn't, in my case the assessor didn't pause the sim not even a single time apart from the reposition at 12NM (Maybe they wanted to see us working under pressure)
As I wrote even before if any of you guys could recommend a better way on how to handle an emergency would be great, I have applied this method because i learnt it back when i was doing my MCC.
Best of luck guys
Max when did you do your assessment?

Thank you Falcon37lc for your detailed answered, this will probably be helpful and a good refresher for many :)

You are asking if there is a "better" way to handle the emergency ; I think what you did is perfectly fine. And anyway, there is not a single way to cope with this, the assessor is probably mainly interested about the crew's CRM skills.

Have a good day

Hi guys,

Just want to share my experience with all of you..!

Call: 27th of May
Interview: 10th of June

Technical questions:

What do you think about the DA42?
How is the DA42 feather system? Why is useful?
Has the DA42 deice/anti-ice? Which is the difference?
Which is the maximum crosswind allowed in the DA42?
Some crosswind calculations
What is BR in a METAR?
What is Mach?
What happen with Mach when climbing?
What is the absolute ceiling?
Which are the limiting factors of Vr and V2?
Which is the difference between DA and MDA?

Sim:

SID W2T for RWY27, in level flight some turns, descends, climbs, accelerations. Questions about actual QDM and actual position. Interception and enter into the hold, without freezing the sim, at the same time: emergency (smoke in the cabin). Request for radial-vectors but not available so flying and ASAP ready for the approach and landing.

Tips: ACE + briefing pack (speeds, call-outs, profiles..!!!!!! everything is so important!) + (if is possible) some sim hours

Hey everyone,

@ironwings2014 - apparently they ask you basic informations about your licenses etc (expiry date, flying experience, attempts for ATPL and CPL/IR) and this is also useful for them to test your english level. They might also ask you questions about anything, such as, what makes a good pilot, or a good captain, etc.

And similarly, just to give my feedback : I applied last monday, the 13th of june, and today I've received the same mail! Wasn't expecting such a quick answer!

ironwings2014:
They will just ask you about your exams and flying hours and then they will read you short text twice and after that they will ask you 4 questions to make sure you are profficient in English. Then they tell you that you passed and you will be offered a date for interview. At the end you will be told all information about payment and briefing pack but this information will be sent to you by e-mail aswell so no need to write it down or memorising it. I had the call 3 hours ago.

Are their profiles just basic and generic?

Good evening,
I will write down there my experience.
Phone interview:
-medical expiry date
-mep/ir exam date and expiry date
-cpl exam date and expiry date
-total flight hours
-"why should we hire you?"
Then they invited me for the assessment in Dublin-Simtech on 8th of June.

Assessment day:
I arrived just 45 minutes earlier, then the assessor invited us for the briefing. He divided us into 4 crews (2 people each crew): one person who did the MCC on 737 sim and one who did on a general fntp simulator.
I was the first together with my college.
I started to fly as PF:
-WAL2N SID briefed, then during the initial part of the sid he started with vectors together with speed change.
-radar vectors for the ILS NDB DME Rwy 27 in EMA.
-no emergency situation.
Same things for my partner, except he had an emergency situation with FIRE IN TOILET. Then full ALTERNATIVE PROCEDURE ILS NDB DME.
10 minutes later I was invited for the interview with the HR and the same assessor I had for the simulator.
HR question:
-introduce yourself
-why Ryanair?
-why should we hire you?
-what is important in the mcc course?
-why have you chosen your flight school?
-where do you usually fly from?

Tech question:
-we talked a litlle bit about glider and my gliding activity (he saw that I had the GPL)
-max 737-800 cieling
-seats on the 737-800
-swept wings adv and disadv
-why are there high lift devices on swept wings?
-how are flaps operated?what pressure?

9 days later they sent me the positive answer via email.

You will find very relaxed atmosphere and they will do everything possible to put at ease. I suggest, during the simulator, to perform all the standard briefing, to call for all the checklist and to interact with your sim partner.

Best regards and good luck all!!

Hi guys! I'd like to share with you my experience
Technical questions:
-irs
-gps
-critical engine on seneca? Why? Does the 737 has a critical engine?
-in which direction the fan rotates?
-why aircrafts have swept wings? Why are useful?
-seats of the 737
Hr questions:
-who are you
-why Ryr should hire you
-where do you see yourself in 5 years
-if you're successful, when can you begin?
Sim:radar dep climbing on rwy hdg to 5000ft at 2nm left turn 180. Then acceleration and deceleration, climbs and descents, intercepted a qdm inbound the ndb and a hold. After that we had smoke from the toilet and the simulator was freezed. Repositioning for a straight in app on rwy 27, when vmc conditions, ils failure and we continued visual.

Hope it helps!

Thanks for the Info Coli90 ,
Just curious as to what you answered to the question :
Does the 737 has a critical engine?
-in which direction the fan rotates?
I'm finding so much contradiction online on this topic and hard to get concrete confirmation.
Maybe someone would like to give their advice,
Many Thanks.

Coli90
25th Jun 2016, 10:41
There is no critical engine in the 737 as in all jet airplanes! One engine could became 'critical' only in case of engine failure with crosswind coming from the side of the inop engine! Both fans of the 737 are clockwise, to reduce the maintenece cost

Hope it helps!

ironwings2014
25th Jun 2016, 14:41
@speed alive rotate the only thing in a jet that can get an engine "critical" is the crosswind. However, the ce will always be the downwind one (when the wind is coming from the side of the live one) because the live engine thrust yaws the plane towards the "dead leg", and if you add a crosswind coming from the live side you will get the yaw moment worst, so you will need more rudder to counteract it. For the rest @Coli90 was absolutely right!:ok:

speed_alive_rotate
25th Jun 2016, 14:49
I thought the same as you both and appreciate your contribution, sometimes overlooking things and trying to get more information on line can lead to contradictions which may confuse haha!!
Thanks again to you both-

Live your dream
25th Jun 2016, 16:03
Ironwings you are wrong. With a crosswind the airplane will yaw into the wind, if you loose the upwind engine the yawing moment will be aggravated assisted by the crosswind. If we loose engine #2 the crosswind to reduce the yawing moment should come from the live engine, in this case from the left.

Coli90
25th Jun 2016, 21:03
Guys! If an aircraft experiences a left engine failure, it generates a yawing moment to the left..if the xwind comes to the left it generates a further yawing moment to the left, also for the effect of the vertical stabilizer(since the wind impacts on the left side, increasing the yawing moment to the left!)

Hope it helps!

ironwings2014

During the take off run, and just on the ground before to get airborne, usually, the aircraft is affected by "positive weathercock effect", or, in other words, yaw into the wind due to the main wheels that, being close to the CG, act as a pivot allowing this effect. When I say usually, I mean that we have also "negative weathercock effect", which yaws the plane away from it, allowing exactly the opposite effect. Once airborne, the aicraft won't experience any weathercock effect, so any "yaw" due to crosswind, but just Drift, pushing the plane in the opposite way the direction of the wind! Furthermore, the wind doesn't impact just the fin but mainly the fuselage, creating in an upwind engine failure case a restoring force, thus helping the aircraft to deal with it with the rudder!
