Has anyone who (re)applied through the new system had any response yet? I'm a bit concerned about not being able to update any details after submission – ME/IR expires at the end of the month and there's no way of informing CAE when the revalidation is done.

I have some questions to those of you that have been to the assessment in Dublin.

Did the T/O briefing you gave include before V1, after V1 and backup plans and how detailed was it(short and simplified)?

Have I understood it correctly that there is no checklist reading, you just have to call for the appropriate checklist (PM/PNF not reading it)?

ross48:

I'm pretty sure extra GA time won't give you any advantage with RYR. I doubt it will hurt either. I would suggest you go ahead and do it if it is something you really want to, as you may not have that opportunity in the future (at least for a while), but don't do it as a stepping stone to RYR.

you do, however, need to be fully EASA before you apply to RYR.

I applied for Ryanair late june and received a mail two weeks later where they asked for my CV. A few weeks later I replied with my CV and then a few days after that they sent me a mail and told me to re-apply. I did that, but I didn't send a new CV or anything. Its now been more than three weeks since I sent them my CV and I haven't heard anything. Should I just wait and see what happens, or should I maybe ask if they received the CV. I'm afraid I have done something wrong and that they are still waiting for my CV. Or do you maybe think I started back as scratch when I was told to re-apply? I'm confused and not really sure what do so I appreciate inputs. ;)

They'll let you do the T/O Briefing that you're more confortable with, your MCC one...etc The only thing you have to do is state it clearly so both PF and PNF are all good with it.

With the checklists, you just have to request them to the examiner whenever corresponds, he'll then check it and reply to you.

Anyway, don't worry too much about it, they're quite friendly and will help you and clarify all these things before the actual interview.

Offtopic: For the time frames, I applied in Nov'14, got the email and call in March'15, interview in April, starting the TR in Sept.

Received an email today asking for CV after re-submitting under the new system. There's also a few question to be answered about completion of training etc. However, at the bottom of the email is this line

"If you have been contacted OR attended an Assessment day with Ryanair on a previous occasion, please do not respond to this email. Your previous application will be in our files, and if the Airline requires your re-application in the future, you would then be contacted accordingly. Regrettably, it is not possible to reply to emails from re-applicants to this program."

Since I did an (unsuccessful) assessment through OAA in 2011, this may count me out before I've even started.

Has anyone been called since they changed the application online?

Is there any way of updating your details. My medical was renewed today and is due to expire in couple of weeks and therefore they will have an expired medical on record.

When I try to update it says "Our records show that I have applied for this programme."

There is a huuuuuuuuuge waiting list for UK bases.

Swarm: the recruitment figures that I told you in previous posts are based in secure sources from inside the company. Also, to reinforce it, I can tell you every 2 weeks there are 2 courses, one in EMA and another at AMS, 12 pilots each. 24 pilots time 26 weeks gives you more than 600 per year :ok: this excludes CTC cadets and other occasions when they start courses every week, with is quite rare but happened.

Hi guys.

Trying to get a feel for the recruitment since 28th July when the new online system was introduced. Anybody applied on or since 28th and had a call for the CV/phone interview?

I wonder if the base preferences have an impact on whether the computer picks you out of the hat and asks for your CV nowadays...

I would think it would be better to pick a few different bases, one uk base, one spanish or Irish etc, if you place all your options in the UK for example do you guys think this would go against you??

Hi, personally I dont think it really matters which bases you pick during the interview. This is for them the same type of question as "why do we order 737s MAX?" and the purpose is to check if you did your homework and know some basic facts about ryanair. For instance the interviewer didn't even put down the bases I chose. cheers!

Has any modular student been asked for their CV by CAE since the July 28th online system change? Its different for integrated, their CV gets sent off with their application when they apply thru their flight school.

Also assuming you pass and are offered a place on a TR course - how long do you have to source the money? The bank I have looked at require a conditional job offer from Ryanair, but for some friends of mine the process to get the loan can take a couple of months? Is there a time limit or a specified TR course you must attend? Or is it a case of you can chose a TR course when you have the funding?

Thanks

The day started at 0915 at Simtech Aviation Training Center. We had a short briefing about the assessment with a very nice assessor. Everything was relax.

He gave us the plates for the SIM and a clearance for departure. It was East Midlands WALLASEY 2N Rwy 27 cleared to 4000’. Wind 300/10 OVC 800’.

We went to a briefing room and we had plenty of time to brief with our sim partners. We were 8, so 4 of us have been assessed by an assessor and the others by the other one.The assessor is the same for the sim and the interview.

During my interview they asked me more HR questions like :

Tell us about yourself?
Why do you want to be a pilot?
Why RYR?
What are the qualities necessary to be a good RYR pilot?
How was your training?
Why did you choose your flight school?
Any accidents/incidents/unexpected event during flying ? And what did you learn from it as a result?
Which 3 bases would you like in order of preference?
Where do you usually fly from?
Where are your parents from?
How will you fund your Type Rating?
What type of aircraft does RYR operate?

I had only 2 technical questions :

Type of engine of B737-800?
What is the sweep angle of the B737-800 and why this value and not another one?

After the interview, we went to the SIM, I was the first PF, I performed the standard departure until TNT 12DME then after I got climbs, descents, speeds and headings, no steep turns. He asked me for the QDM and to intercept another QDM, to enter the hold and when turning to the inbound course, I got a cabin fire. I missed my first ILS so I called for a Go-around then I’ve been frozen and replaced on ILS, the second one was stabilized.
My partner got a different clearance. Rwy heading until 3DME then left heading 180, same exercises and an ill passenger.

For those who were with the second assessor, the sim was easier (T/O, radar vectors, ILS, no hold, ill passenger or cabin smoke), but the interview was based on technical questions like :

Anti-ice system of B737-800?
Anti-ice system of your previous aircraft?
Pressurization of the hydraulic system on B737-800?
Electrical system of your previous aircraft?
VMCG/V1/VMCA/VR/V2 (definitions, how they are placed and calculated ?)
And a lot of other questions about B737-800 and previous ME aircraft, especially for those who flew the DA42.

Just an advice, take it easy... They want all of us !

To everyone just starting their type rating in AMS:

I just passed my LST and I'm leaving Netherlands very soon. Me and 4 other colleagues from the same course live in a house in Nieuw-Vennep (10mins to CAE by car) that is available to rent after we leave (starting around the 20th Sept). The house can accommodate up to 6 people, fully equipped, two showers and two toilets, 350sq. metres. Rent is very good. Finding a place to stay short term in the AMS area is not very easy, for me it took me several weeks to sort that out.

Anyone who still doesn't have a place to stay and is interested, please PM me.

It is a myth what you wrote. I had 2 fails in ATPL and I was invited for assessment... They asked me about these fails during phone interview and during 'normal' interview in Dublin and I think it doesn't matter. My friend joined RYR in July with 2 or 3 fails. So, stay positive!

Hi everybody,

I am 31's old with 1200 TOT hours of executive jet.

Besides the fact I fly, before the assessment,I prepared myself studying all the 275 pages of this post (with an huge help of a friend)and I spent around 6/8 hours of simulator training. In few words I tried to give my best.

I did the assessment in Dublin on september the 30th.

Meeting at 9:15 a.m.
Everything was quite and the atmosphere was very relaxing. An examiner explained us about the assessment for about 15'/20'.

After we had plenty of time to brief the WAL 2T departure from Liverpool,an ILS and an NDB rwy 27.
Cavok,wind 300/10,QNH 1013.

Some of us went to the sim(1:30h roughly for couple) and one by one to the interview.

On that day we were odds.So we were in three in the sim alternating each other.
I suggest to not switch the seat for the PF part if You started as the PM.
Keep the same seat because your eyes get used to that position.

All of us did the departure with the relative call outs. Then on the heading, turns of 30 and 45 degrees.
Acceleration from 220kts to 250kts and deceleration(the exercise wants to you to correct the pitch up/down during the accelerating/decelerating).

Then the examiner took the control and asked the position according to the RMI and the NDB.
To be more precise, tell him the track miles;it means ,according to the position, read the DME distance from the ILS and add or subtract the distance from the NDB.

I had the passenger with an heart attack and a F/A. trained for the first aid. I discussed with my colleague about it and we decided to land if the weather was good. And I suggested to use the defibrillator if the f/a. was able to master it.

Once frozen we set up the ILS for a landing from the NDB with the base turn.
With the wind, inbound to the NDB,with a direct entry, turn on the outbound leg with 15/20 degrees of heading less and(if there is wind, passing the NDB,don't put just the outbound heading, correct it for the wind),
once passed the NDB,adjust the position according to the QDR.
At 8,6 DME dist. ,turn right to intercept the LOC with an LOC(hdg) minus 30 degrees.

Everything will be fast so WRITE ON THE APP CHART THE 2NM AND THE 1/2 NM CONFIGURATION POINTS AND CALL IT DURING THE PROCEDURE.

If it's an ILS CALL the OM altitude.
If it's a NON PRECISION,CALL the distance at which you start to descend.

When You are a PF move gently the aircraft,it is very sensitive.

When You are a PM,help the PF but don't suggest.if the pf has 1500fpm after a level off, call:"vertical speed" or "altitude" or "speed".Anticipate a little bit the call out if something looks bad.

My interview was about:
1.Why Ryanair.
2.Why Ryanair has a so good economic success.
3.Qualities of a good captain.
4.How did you choose your flight school and who payed.
5.the hardest decision in your life.
6.what do you do if you lose your medical.
7. I came to Dublin with a Ryanair flight, the examiner asked me if I noticed how many exits the f/a. named and if I noticed what was near by me.
8.the electrical system of the aircraft I fly.

Same examiner of the sym and a psychologist.

9 days after I recived an email with the successful response.

Prepare yourself very accurately ,dress elegant, speak proper,be yourself and be very honest about everything.

If You need further explanations, feel free to pm me.

Good luck guys.

Dear collegues,

I applied to Ryanair in June, I received the email on the 2nd of September, I did not realized untill the 23rd and responded inmediately, I do not know why but none of my smartphones ever gave me the notification... dont trust a smartphone!

I responded on the 23rd, got the email saying that the CV have been sent and positive feedback after 11 days, in the email they said that they would call me at anytime, it was wednesday 7th of October so I thought... ok! maybe next week? no guys, next day, yesterday they called me and did not say anything about assessment dates she just said that next week she will send me an email regarding the dates and I wasnt expecting nothing till next week but it happened that I received a call this afternoon again.

Guys I have been in the position where they would call all my collegues and not me for a few months and lost my hopes but it turned to be my time now, once it happens it goes super quick!

I have the assessment next wednesday 21st of October.

I wish you all good luck guys, there will be +100 airplanes coming in the upcoming years, just be patient they will call everyone and they will start contacting people for second chances.

I will keep you guys updated.

AFter I sent the CV they called me, but they didn't say anything, just that I'd receive an email with the assessment dates in a couple of days.

Waited for almost 2 weeks, then I sent an email and after waiting another week I called them straight. "No one knows anything about you", that was my answer. I am pretty sure I succeeded on the phone call interview. The girl told me to send another email, so I did. No response.

That is not professional. Anyway, good luck for you guys who are going to the assessments soon!

about two weeks ago I had "call interview" and today I received replay "RYR application_unable to proceed" but I have 5 fails on theoretic ATPL (3 subject I passed at second time and one at third).

Was anybody with 3 or 4 fails in Dublin for assessment ? Do you know about such a people ? I doubt I failed call interview as there was nothing to fail and the girl said at the end that CAE will contact with me.

Hi guys!

I would like to know if someone here has received a mail on July 23rd where CAE requested to create a new profile and choose 3 bases and got answer?
I remember after have pressed on submit i saw on top the message that my application has been sent with success. But one day after i received a mail from CAE telling that peoples who had applied between 23rd and 28 of July had to recreate a new account and reapply.
I did it but after resubmit the message on the top said " you have Already applied for this program" or something like that.
So i didn't understand the second mail from CAE. And today i have no News...

Is there someone in the same case?or able to explain me why no news after requested me 3 bases...

Thanks in advance.

28.07.15 - I made new account on CAE and I applied.
20.08.15 - I received "CV request email" and the same day I sent CV with answers
26.08.15 - I sent them my updated CV
03.09.2015 - I got an e-mail that CV is sent to RYR for approval
04.09.2015 - I got email that my CV was accepted and I was notified about phone interview and... I had call 2 hours later!
16.09.2015 - I had assesment in Dublin
8.10.2015 - I got positive e-mail :)
1.02.2016 - I will have intro week in EMA
29.02.2016 - I will have TR in AMS

Hi to everyone,

As this forum has helped me during my preparation for the Ryanair interview, I want to share my experience if it helps for the coming candidates.
I has the assessment the 27th october this month and 3 days later I had a positive feedback from the contractor agency. They have offered me the Type Rating course starting the 1st of February in AMS or the one that will start the 7th of March in EMA. I told them the one which starts before.

Here you have what I was asked in my interview and how the simulator went.

HR questions:
- Why do you wanna work for Ryanair?
- Weaknesses and strenghts?
- What qualities a good captain must have?
- What if he didn't listen to you?
- Questions about my engineering degree.
- Who is going to pay for your TR?
- What do your parents do for a living?
- Are you going to return them the money of your TR?
- When can you start if you pass?
- Do you have any question?

Tech questions:
- The forces that act on an airplane in flight (lift, weight, thrust and drag)
- How would you make an aircraft more aerodynamically? Without taking into account the engines. (Thin, minimal chamber and swept wings)
- What is GPS?
- Jetstream? Why westerly? (Pressure gradient + coriolis)
- Max certified crosswind on DA42? Some calculations of Xwind
- Arrival airport conditions of temperature 2 degrees and dew point 2 degrees. What conditions can we expect? --> FOG

Simulator assessment:
WAL2N SID from EMA given non standard departure straight ahead 2000' then right turn heading 360 degrees climbing to 5000'.
Then climbs and descends, turns, speed changes. Then descend from 5000' to 3000' with ROC 1000 ft/min with right turn to heading XXX.
Then some questions about QDM interceptions when inbound to EME locator.
Entering the hold, cabin emergency, in this case was smoke in the cabin. Request to land and EMA and ILS approach to runway 27. Once visual with the runway G/S and LOC failure and continue the approach visually.

I hope it will help the future candidates and just think they need pilots, just be yourself, try to stay calm as much as possible but sometimes it's kinda difficult.

I wish you all the best.

I received the 23rd of July a mail from CAE requesting me to resubmit for TR 737 and choose 3 bases. I made it and when i submitted i got the message " thank you your application has been successfully submitted" until this no problem. But one or two days after i received a mail from CAE telling that people submitted between 23rd and 28th will be unsuccessfull and had to submit again. I tried to resubmit but it was impossible and got the message " you Already have submitted and Record in database" ( something like that) so i didn't understand the mail because i couldn't submit again as requested. I tried several Time after in august without success... And the 24th october in connecting to my account i saw a Line with " edit TR-00000010 07/27/2015 11:38 pm "
So at this Time i understood my error, i applied too earlier before the 28th... I decided to resubmit and got the message " thank you your application has been successfully submited "...
I flew the 30th october so i wanted to update this information and when i click on submit i got again the message " thank you your application has been successfully submitted"..then i can update information...

So my question do you think i am well Record in the database now? Someone in the same case? Or do you have any advice? I am patient but i just want to be sure that now everything is good...
Thank you in advance for your help answers and advice.

Reason why I have found a ticket from LHR at 19:55h. I would be traveling to south america and plane tickets are expensive.

So knowing the time the interviews finish would be great because going from STN to LHR would take at least one hour.

There are 2 different mailing lists, successful and unsuccessful candidates. So those who passed receive an email from Storm Mc Ginley, and those who failed receive an email from RYR. Yes and No are not necessarily sent the same day. So if some guys of your day have received a No already, that sounds like a good news for you ;-)

Thats what we are thinking but 2 weeks have passed since the assessment. The week after the assessment 3 guys got a No. And 2 week for the rest of us with no news. And a guy that went to the assessment 1 week after us already got a positive answer thats why we are concerned about it.

Not at all. They will ask you for your base selection again (2 or 3 times) and if you are lucky, you'll get one.

Not at all. They will ask you for your base selection again (2 or 3 times) and if you are lucky, you'll get one.
I met the girl in charge of contacting people. She said there are over 10k applications in the database. 16 candidates per week are selected to attend the assessment.

16 a week seams right. But wow, 10k you sire. Seams a lot. Is the people out there with application numbers around 10k? It like winning a lotto to get called then.

I am 50 years with 6000 hrs right seat on the 737-800.
My ATPL is non EASA.
I am interested in working for Ryanair and being based in Europe.
After converting my license to the EASA ATPL would Ryanair consider my application or will my age be a problem ?
Thanks for your replies.

Hi,

I had the assessment the 20th of October, they told 2 weeks for a result, today it makes the 14 days still no news for me.. :ugh:

Only thing I know is: 3 of my assessment received the "negative" email one week later (27th) all at the same day, same time; and another guy is in the same position as me (waiting) , no idea of the remaining 3 (8 total our day).

Thoughts? Anyone know if they send the "no" and " yes" different days but at the same time for the people who have passed and the people who have not passed? Do they send the "no" in different days or once at a time? What are my chances of passing the assessment in my position?

If someone knows something about their process, thnx in advance!

Swarm.
Hi any news yet?! 7 of the 16 this week already got a positive mail just after 2 days.
Please let me know.

First, congrats to all of you who got to the interview!

Second, i had the CV request on the 23rd of September, I answer it and still no response. I've seen some of you are starting to get new emails requesting for your CV's.
Anyone knows if that means that the ones that got the email on September are no longer considered for the interview?

Hello everyone. I went to assessment on the same day as swarm. I couldnt describe any better than what he did. If you take the take to read every page from here you will see that almost every questionar they ask there is written here. I also got a positive answer.

For the background I've been waiting since September 2009 with no answer from them. On september 2015 I have reapplyed with the new system and got the CV request 2 weeks later. So I have been waiting 6 years for the chance to Go to the assessment. Be yourself study hard and most of all try to Go to a 737 sim before the assessment and good CRM and briefings mandatory. It took 3 weeks and 1 day of anxiety and stress to get the good news. Best of luck to everyone.

hi Guys

I have a question, how much does the performance of your sim partner affect the results of your assessment.

The reason i ask, i went for my assessment recently, and i has paired up with someone, who lets just say had not come dressed for the occasion, and sim performance, both as PF and PM was.....

When they were PF they didn't make any of the correct calls, didn't follow the departure profile, and kept on replying to ATC! I did try as much as i could, to prompt him with the calls by making suggestions., they didn't do any landing brief, nor any emergency brief.

when it came to him being PM, again they weren't much assistant to me had to go around as they failed to monitor a speed instability, and when i asked for gear up flap 15 it took them too long to realise what i had asked for.

and now I'm just worried that his poor performance will reflect on me as well?

EchoSierra
12th Nov 2015, 14:44
mankan - it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that someone had to drop out of the interview, and your partner was actually an employee posing as a difficult partner - just a thought.

From what I can gather, they're looking for how you respond to an individual like that, do you prompt them, did you pick them up when they didn't do a brief for the approach, did you remind them of the before landing checklist? etc etc etc

If my partner were to begin the approach without a briefing I would be speaking up.

Just my $0.02

Hi guys! I had my assessment 2 days ago at Simtech (10th november). SIM: non standard departure from rwy 27 at EMA, after that some turns, climbs, descents and speed changes. QDM exercises, holding and emergency (one pax was kicking the cockpit door trying to open it). Ils rwy 27, when the rwy was in sight the examiner removed the ils indications from the pfd, i continued visual.
Hr questions: Why ryanair? What you learnt from your previous working experiences? Your weaknesses? How can affect your job? What do you know about ryr? What about yourself in 5 years? and other questions that you can easily find in this thread.
Tech question: only aquaplaning and anti skid.

I received the positive mail this afternoon after just 2 days.

Feel free to PM me for anything you might require!!

Hi guys,

Had my assessment yesterday was very relaxed atmosphere we started the day with a brief then we were all paired and some of us went in to sim and some to interview.

Sim,
East Midlands Sid but soon as we took off cancelled Sid and radar vectored ils to land. Bit of GH and tracking. Later he freezed the sim and asked our position.
No tricks literally took off and radar Vectored ils to land. HOWEVER IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE WHO YOU GET AS YOUR PARTNER IN THE SIM SO BE CAREFULL AND BRIEF WELL.

Interview,
HR question
Tell me about your self?
What can you give to Ryanair?
What qualities does a good captain have?
How would you deal with a bad tempered captain?
Why CTC?
who's paying for your training?
Are you aware that type rating is gonna be very challenging?
What are your weaknesses?
Where do you see your self in 5 years?
Did you apply to other airlines?

Tech,
Wind 300/10 runway 27 what's the cw?
What is v2?
Where is the screen height?
What is clear way?
What is MTOW of 737?
Maximum ceiling?
Can we fly at max ceiling?

Over all was a good experience but I don't think I got in. The sim let me down I'm not blaming anyone but if your partner doesn't call out your v speeds or basic things to help you and you happen to do everything your self it gets really difficult.

Make sure you check your MSA on the plate because while I was PF atc asked us to decend to 2000ft but MSA was 2500ft. That was the only trick he threw at us.

Good luck everyone!

Hello,

As I have been reading this topic to prepare my Ryanair assesment I would like to share with you my experience.

29/10/2015: 1st email asking to reply answering questions.

06/11/2015: 2nd email stating that my CV was sent to the airline and they would call me for the telephone assessment.

11/11/2015: Phone assessment. No technical questions. Questions about my licence, flight hours, experience, ratings, medical and licence validity, theoretical ATPL... etc.

25/11/2015: Invitation to the assessment day at Dublin. Very relaxed atmosphere both in the simulator and interview.

The simulator was not very difficult. From Liverpool, WAL2T departure out of RWY 27, two vectors for a 30º bank while maintaining altitude. At some point the assessor froze the simulator and then presented to us an emergency situation (heart attack). We had time to discuss and work it out. After briefing the situation with the other pilot and cabin crew and reporting it to ATC we had time to prepare and brief for the approach. Then he unfroze the simulator and we continued DCT to LPL. We were on QDM060 already so we did not have to do any holding. We were cleared for the procedural NDB ILS DME 27 and landed. We always had the feedback of the assessor to be trying to help us, even explaining new things to us.

The interview:

HR questions: Why Ryanair? What would you do to make Ryanair even better? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Why should we hire you? What are your hobbies? Who paid your aviation career? Who is going to pay for the type rating? What would you do if you loose your medical?

Technical questions: What is the multi engine aircraft which you are most familiar with? How is the electrical system? How is the landing gear system? What engines does it have (power, manufacturer)? Do you think Rotax is the best engine for light airplanes, why? You are out for a walk in the mountain and you are facing the wind, where is the low pressure? What is the formula for the hydroplanning speed?

27/11/2015: E-mail from McGinley aviation saying I was successful and offering to start the type rating at AMS on 29/02/2016 or 07/02/2016.

Cheers,
