What you call a J class commision is a commision...

What you call a J class commision is a commision in the RAFR(CC) - Civilian Component. A Civvie in Uniform if you will. They are certainly not VR(T). AEF staff pilots are VR(T).

And why don't VGS'...

VGS Officers do the same curse as ATC Sqn. The CCF course is also 1 week, but is often held seperately, due to a slightly differing content. However, mixed ATC/CCF courses do take place.

Get the 5s anyhow, and get them ranked/badged etc. You may find that your paperwork drops in time. You're bound to get wear out of them over the years either way.

Regular junior officer should still salute VR(T) senior officers as they would their own. It is after all, the Queen we are saluting.

As I mentioned earlier, it's "Volunteer Gliding Squadron", not "Squadron". Numbers are irrelevant.

Using another VGS as an example: 617 (currently disbanded).

617 Sqn is a real RAF flying...

You won't.

You will have 633 Sqn & 633 VGS.

However, the 'S' in VGS is now Squadron, and not School.

VGS are 'Volunteer Gliding Squadrons', not 'Squadrons'.

C2 is apparently OF-3 (Squabbling Bleeder) equivalent.
