Filmed 10th and 11th of June according to the date shown on monitors. Broadcasted (or posted) on 17th according to TF1info website. I found no trace of such a disclosure incident outside of the Twitter thread. So... it's a shame, if confirmed

Talking of oil rigs and the Black Sea, I just flew over the length of this sea from Tbilisi Georgia in the east to Romania in the west, hugging the Turkish north coast most of the way. Our captain made no sudden moves northward (or in altitude) until we were generally nearer Istanbul, but it was a slightly nervous time, especially knowing the history of this airline. I was trying not to imagine the odd sea-launched Kalibr from a Russian sub, or a mistakenly triggered S400 or BUK system or something from Ukraine near Snake Island. A vivid geography lesson however, highly recommended for some of our youth.

Russian IL-76 crash in Ryazan.. Probably unrelated to the war, but maintenance, fatigue and the whole temp of war may have contributed.

I think he or she was referring to the clip of the Russians shooting at themselves, not the HIMARS video.

I read that it was a SAM, possibly S-400?

Blimey a three legged dog, I wonder if one of them had the other for lunch, seems strange to be turning back towards a built up area, you would have thought get it down as soon as possible straight ahead unless he had control damage etc,

[QUOTE=NutLoose;11250999]Mine clearing Ukrainian style
/QUOTE]

Remarkably little effort to conceal them. I am however a little surprised that the grenade set them off: I thought an anti-tank mine needed many hundred kg on the pressure-plate to detonate them and therefore puzzled that shock-waves would explode them ( but then, I know nothing about explosives, shock-waves etc. )

Launch angle suggests SA-6 / SA-8 / SA-11.

I was wondering if it might be that from the size of the explosion ( 25 - 180 kg warhead ) and presumably a full fuel-load. When looking up the spec, it was a surprise to see that an S-500 system was put into service in Sept 2021: I thought the S-400 was fairly new.

I suppose that may be the Idea, if you think about it, it makes you have to stop not knowing if there is an ambush set for you, so you will not want to approach anywhere near it for the same reason, nor will you want to go off road as you do not know if others have been buried to the sides of those you can see, thus your advance down that route has been halted until infantry etc can move forward and clear it and they then become the possible target or may find the sides of the road littered with buried anti personnel mines... Thus with a few visible mines they have halted your advance. Though you could use the tanks gun, that too might alert troops in the area to your presence and if the area has been zeroed in, a possible artillery strike?.

I think I read years ago that the military looked at developing a long lasting foam a bit like the stuff you get in a fire suppression system, you would use it in an urban environment and pump it into a street up to second floor level etc, the logic being a tank would not advance through it as they had no idea what was set up behind it waiting for them to emerge through, nor indeed actually it in it, from tank traps to anti tank mines. You wouldn't be able to see through it, your thermals would be ineffective because it would be wet, your tank would be partially though it before your vision is restored. If not can I have a prize for the suggestion?? Pretty please A similar sort of principal to the mines I suppose.

rather like this but deeper

Comments from any concerned military.

I can imagine that if, in practice shoots, a missile goes wild, then all stocks are frozen, serial numbers are compared and withdrawn from service and quarantined for long periods

In wartime I expect that people say WTF , make notes of whatever data they have and continue firing, but make sure they are wearing their best Nikes . Comments ?

My Dad was in the Navy during WW2. When firing the AA guns if you had a miss fire the whole load of ammo from the ready use locker went over the side and you called up more on the hoist.
