'pyro' yr 17 yrs old for crying out loud(lucky bugga), how long could you have been on the web? You ought to be out chasing girls down the street rather than sitting as home staring at pretty ones on the net!:E If yr heading towards a pro pilot career then I can advise you to stick with the net, not too many have lost their brief over the net but plenty have been cleaned out by girls:p

I guess the kids of today have more 'toy's than we ever did ! 'alf ya luck!:ok:

flyitboy: you'd be surprised, i've had internet since i was about 6 years old, that's 11 years....

Also, I don't need to chase girls? I've already got a perfectly good one (off the net, but far enough away that i don't get made bankrupt :p)

CW/Flyitboy: Allow me to make a tutorial eh?
I'll post it up somewhere in the near future and then i'll PM you both.

Lets face it...the alternator karked it...who would dare suggest it had not earned a rest..prolly pumped more amps out than any 10 other IO520 alternators...prolly worked harder than the prototype did during certification 'testing to destruction':E

Or maybe, as the good Doc transferred pretty well the entire nav suit (2 GPS' and a tablet-although I suspect there were more:} ) over to his brothers Mooney, the alternator felt it had been put out to pasture and died of a broken heart?;)

It just occurred to me- The Bonanza gets called a Boner so does that make the Mooney a Mooner or a Moaner?

Since I have personally run into a screw falling from an aircraft above, I'd believe it.

Lol, I reckon that old bucket of bolts would have dropped a few screws herself from time to time! Strange thing was though, when a Chieftain fell in a heap somewhere (or crashed as once was the case) or the Aerocommander went U/S, old MEP would be sent to the rescue. Even done the mail run a few times - amazing what you can fit in a Sneaker!

And it went the other way as well.
One day I'd flown ACZ to Adelaide on the regular service, tidied up the aircraft and went into the terminal to gather passengers for the flight back to the gutter. Upon returning to the aircraft with the outbound passengers I found it gutted!
Half it's radios were missing.
Seems MEP's radios were out for maintenance and someone didn't want to lose a days training, so they just stole them from ACZ while my back was turned.

I did five mail runs in MEP after ACZ had that little bingle at Clifton Hills in the hands of a current QANTAS pilot (not female).

Guess what, after 5 channel runs I found it is possible to land a Seneca gracefully.

Hmm, that must have been before my time. The old saying goes that you never land a Seneca1 you only arrive in it, but I have occasionally watched some good S1 landings. By the same token I have also seen some absolute shockers!
BTW was anyone watching SBS last night? They were obviously strapped for things to put on in one of the doco programs, & dredged up footage of the mail run that was done back in the days of ASA/Air North. Mango was at the helm that trip. Loved the narrator's pronunciation of Dulkaninna - nearly peed myself!

Can remeber FIE when it was operated by Flinders Island Airlines out of MB. They had the Herald contract to Mildura and other northern Victorian locations. There was also a second one FID. Did several runs up to Corowa and across to Swan Hill, then back to MB, landing using the flare path! A real pilots aircraft.

I had a dream year in 2005, representing Australia @ the Junior World Gliding Championships, UK! The first two pictures were taken of me flying an LS8 'D4' while crossing the finish line, and the 3rd picture is my mate crossing the line in an LS1-f (the glider that I presently own part share of in Australia).

Great fun, can't wait to get back into a glider as the career is getting in the way at the moment!

No idea what the third one is.

Aerostars certainly look like sex personified don't they? When everything is working they are great, if serious, fun to fly too but keeping everything working is VERY money intensive. Is that an unpressurised 600 or a 602P with the Machen mods? The two I flew started life as 602Ps and then were turned into 680/700Ps via the Machen modifications. The difference between 680 and 700P is the props.

FTDK, yeah something like that! Often the parachute is only warn for comfort/padding in the cockpit. When you learn to glide in Aus, you generally go up without parachutes - madness hey! I own my own parachute these days, so on all gliding flights it comes with me :)

Here's a picture of my old mans glider, about to launch @ Kingaroy. It's a Schempp-Hirth Ventus 2cxM. The engine is a 52hp Solo engine, and at MTOW of 565kg it'll easily climb out at over 500fpm (early day self-launchers always struggled to get this). Once at around 2000AGL, the prop is lined up vertically and retracted back into the fuselarge. This transforms the glider into a more traditional 'pure sailplane'..

Thanks for the mention of CJT.
Yeah mate of mine D.Brffa owned that 185 ...and yes it was to go to the south pole back in the eighties to pick up the guys who were retracing the explorer SCOTTS footsteps. When the ship carrying it arrived down in the ice the ships hull was crushed and CJT was hauled off the ship in the nick of time.
Soutern Quest or something the ship was called.
Briffa and I were both based at RAAF amberely ground staff in those days.
Many a DZ jump trip was flown in that machine. Briff kept it running like a swiss watch and being a LAME helped.
Not too many pilots were allowed to fly her as she was a real horn machine with a "HAIRY CHESTED IMAGE" as one young lady used to say
Glad to hear she is still flying.

Anyone see Air Crash Investigation last night? 767 runs out of gas and lands on a deserted airfield near Winnipeg.

For the sake of allegedly-good TV, they showed simulated cockpit views. Problem was, any pilot looking at those views would know that he was already dead: They were from about 1500 ft, when the aircraft was supposed to be at 10000 ft.
