Haven't seen any pics from the usual suspects, so here goes. Weather wasn't the greatest, but a pretty good turnout none the less. The Grumman Mallard above was a highlight (what is better than one round engine? Two of them), Mustang, T-28, Wirraway and Winjeel, not to mention assorted RVs and other lighties good to see too.

The ever polite and helpful Alan Spears was gracious enough to overlook the drool brought on by his beautiful paintings. SWMBO has been armed with a few photos and detailed instructions for several birthdays and Christmases to come!

From the lighter side of town I enjoyed seeing the Sling on its first outing, a handsome and altogether chunkier version of the ubiquitous 912 powered RA types.

Awwww C'mon, surely the Queen of the skies is the BAC 1-11. Only aircraft I've flown with a Cigar Lighter in the forward instrument panel!

I'm hoping we get to see a bit more of the Mallard in and around SEQ - especially if there is a water landing on offer! Just the thing for Aye Ess to put on canvas:ok:

Here are a few more from the day, hats off to the organisers, I would have loved to have spent the weekend but had competing obligations, would be wonderful to see the airpark get off the ground too, so to speak.

I can feel an Anorak moment coming on.

The Mallard C/n J35 N611Ds was first on the register as PK-AKD to Asiatic Petroleum Corp. New York, for use by Royal Dutch Shell in Indonesia on the 3rd of November 1948. It was delivered on the 7th of August 1948 to Batavia (Jakarta).
It subsequently flew with the Indonesian Water and Air Police. Exported back to the States in '76. It then was the owned and operated by various owners in Miami, Alaska, and the Bahamas. It even had a stint with a Hotel in Palau in the Pacific.

Quite a girl, amazing history.

We don't need a plethora of stickied thread at the top of the forum.

Shame we can't go through the thread and now simply 'archive' all the photos on it in one continuous thread without all the intersecting comments and just have the piccies. Or can we?

There's not a lot of point in archiving the posts really because many of them use photobucket and the accounts expire or people change ISP's and their photos are no longer valid. Unfortunately the thread has a limited lifetime :( It's been great though and thanks everyone for your contributions :ok: :ok: :D

Does "close the thread" mean just lock it so there are no new posts, or remove it from the server. If it is the former, the pictures will still be accessible, and posts can always be linked to in the new thread.

No, it will not be removed, only unstuck and probably locked. But there is a link to access the old thread in my first post above.

There has been some notably long running treads on PPRuNe Dunnunda, but I think this is the largest by posts and views. The long running threads include:

Maybe rename both threads, so that people are aware that there are 2 threads.

It might be inane, but some nights, when i truly want to relax, i start clicking through.

Maybe as a suggestion..
The home of photos in dunnanda, Chapter 1 and chapter 2. that way people can go searching when it gets unstickied.
