Devil in the details. A lot of Countries abstaining rather than being counted, and these are countries that know better and don't have a direct pressure point or philosophical support for RuZZia.

Better than nothing... But a fair bit of LMF
The resolution is short on substantive interventions. It's nice it reaffirms the demand by the UN for Russia to go home from all Ukraine's internationally recognised lands... And if they don't nothing will be done by the UN in spite of the disregard of the Article 27(3) rule that denies Russia a vote and therefore Russia has no Veto in the UNSC... A point disregarded for convenience by ... Those fine people who diligently and tirelessly work to preserve the polish on the seats I. The UNGA, and stuff all else.

That's OP1, OP2 -3 officially raise a bit of eyebrow against Russia, Vlad will quake at that. OP 4 adds a register of damages for future weasling over...
OP5 is the, we are so tired, we need a nap.

Vlad gets away with his brutality because the UN breaches their own rule 27(3 and allow him to do so. Frankly, only the Scandinavian girls seem to have the backbone to actually abide with the UN Charter, my govt doesn't they could care less.

The best summary I've seen of air war so far in Ukraine.

Smart young bloke, concludes with interesting prognosis about the platform options for stepping up Ukraine combat air power in the short and then longer terms. I'd be interested to hear what those here think.

Russians film a tank trying to breech a Pyramid from their defence line as a demonstration of their effectiveness, now call me old fashioned but who in their right mind would drive straight at it then floor it. one would have thought you would side swipe them driving between a pair. and as we saw them being craned off a truck they obviously have a lifting eye on them like the ones below, so a quick cable through it and a reverse to pull them out of the way, job done.

Kyiv attacked as world leaders meet at G20 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63638859

BBC News on line

Another spiteful response to International criticism, and Zelenzky’s “G-19” comment?

EDIT … updated reports, strikes all over UKR too. Timed to mark Lavrov’s departure from Bali?

I gather Lavrov left before the news of the strikes came in. Coincidence or timing?

One less, Zelensky reported 85 missile strikes on objects on the territory of Ukraine and warned of the imminent possibility of more than 20 missile arrivals.

True - but that requires a "volunteer" to get out and do the threading..................

Aviation content.

Taras dreamed of switching from old fighter jets to modern F-16s.

Wife Kateryna "I was well aware that I was marrying a fighter pilot, that in times of need he would give his life to save people."

From his jet, Taras last words were "They're working on me"

I particularly liked his all-to-brief coverage of the EW aspect, about which I've not seen very much discussion. Also the phasing of the operation, in terms of how things went the first few days, how things went during the next weeks, and the changes they started to see in March. And the shambles that was the RU comms plan.

For ORAC:

The sh*t may now hit the fan, a Russian missile overshot and hit a village in Poland killing two.

“Polish PM Morawiecki convened the emergency meeting of the Committee of the Council of Ministers for National Security & Defense Affairs.”

The town is close to the border , 10 km from the nearest significant ukraine settlement.

It can equally be UAF anti air missile, though the crater looks on the large side for that. Someone targeting made a big screw up probably.

RuZZia knows how to annoy people.

That may be argued against in council as an Art. 5 & 6 event, but it obliges a response that reminds Vlad of the consequences of his actions. It would justify positioning with Ukraine consent or request air defence within Ukraine of NATO to defend all weapons fired into Ukraine from Russian forces as they are apparently incompetent. That should be, to include all criminally held lands that Russia occupies in Eastern Ukraine in contravention of UN resolutions.

Will NATO go further than that? for an action that has the hall marks of being due to Russian incompetence?

Poland has the right to respond as they see fit as a UN member, under the charter, Russia killing Polish people is not unforeseeable as a result of Vlads ego trip through Ukraine. Never dull.
