It's not often that I feel moved to quote/paraphrase Emperor Hirohito but here goes:
"The situation in the war has developed, not necessarily to Japan's advantage..."

Reports indicate that RF troops in some locations are short on food and water as well as ammo.

Argentinian troops in the later stages of the Falklands suffered similar privations, but had nowhere to go. RF troops have a much shorter walk home.

Undersupplied troops won't be in a position to put up much of a fight come winter.

Curious. So the west coast of the. Sea of Azov gets depleted with invaders, and the Red team congregates in... Crimea, which is dependent on:

1. Water supply from Kherson via the canal... ;
2. Airbridge to Russia at targets Airports;
3. The Kerch target Bridge.
4. Shipping to the west coast of the Sea of Azov, and to Crimea. "There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today"... [ Beatty, Jutland, 1916]

What could possibly go wrong with that plan...

In the meantime, Russian activity in what ends up being a salient around eastern Donbas comes from limited rail lines. 5 (Five)... in range of slingshots, let alone Su-25, Mi-17, HIMARS, 155's....

Nothing wrong with that plan Igor...

Just in case the nutters are still in charge, distributing forces might be a nice idea for Ukraine, something outside of TNW badness circles might be prudent.

Kremlin tightens their grip and warns the Russians of criticising the "special military operation". In essence: there's an open window for every Russian if required.

- Critical remarks about the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine in the light of recent events are permissible within the framework of the current legislation, but the line in this matter is very shaky, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“As for other, critical points of view, as long as they remain within the framework of the current legislation, this is pluralism. But the line is very, very thin. You have to be very careful here,” Peskov warned. So he answered the request of journalists to comment on critical posts in telegram channels in connection with the latest events during the special military operation in Ukraine.

"Public opinion is so sensitive to what is happening in the framework of a special military operation, it is clear that public opinion reacts very, very emotionally," he said.

At the same time, Peskov stressed that "the Russians support the president, this is confirmed by the mood of the people, their actions, participation in the elections and the choice made by those who used their vote." "This is confirmed by statistic data," Peskov stressed.

He noted that society is consolidated around the decisions that the head of state makes.

ratt, that may be a spoof (or perhaps the first I saw was the spoof) on FB and here of a guy with face burns being interviewed saying his tank's gun did not work, and the other tanks in his platoon had guns but were immobile. The length and sentence structure look about the same.

I have just tried to find it but am unable.

Two interesting/shocking things.

First, Russia has got to the stage of stripping out/press-ganging men from their Strategic Rocket Forces as cannon fodder for Ukraine. The effect on readiness states, maintenance, security and morale can be imagined.

Secondly, reading his debrief the number of desertions and wholesale flight shows how hollowed out the Russian army has become with their KIA/WIA/MIA.

UKR is now using manoeuvre warfare in the east. Once they broke through the once strong RU front lines they have been able to rapidly rampage through their rear where rU no longer has the men to hold the towns or ability to locate them or the reserve troops to oppose them.

The ability of the UKR army to advance in an6 direction is now only limited to their own logistic tail, but they now hold the main railway lines and junctions and associated RU ammo and fuel dumps.

Meanwhile, in Kherson, they are fighting a war of force. They have the RU forces pinned down and unable to retreat and running out of food, water and ammunition and are able to pummel them with artillery from outside their range. Their are reports of major RU units with only 3-4 working vehicles left - it seems almost as if the UKR troops are running out of targets.

Ukraine’s military strikes Kakhovka bridge in Kherson again, halting Russian forces' repairs.

Ukraine's Southern Operational Command reported on Sept. 12 that they also struck nine Russian positions and three groupings of personnel and equipment.Ukraine’s military strikes Kakhovka bridge in Kherson again, halting Russian forces' repairs.

The command also said it destroyed one Russian Mil Mi-8 helicopter, one Su-24 aircraft, and one pontoon crossing in Darivka in Kherson Oblast.

India really needs to decide whose side they want to be on when the shooting is all over.

Yep, that cheap oil from Russia probably doesn't feel like quite such a good deal right now to India.

Actually the Argentine troops had huge stocks of food and ammo in Stanley and the grunts in the hills (only 5 miles away) may have been cold but were well stocked with ammo and had mobile field-kitchens on site. On the other hand, our guys were down to their last magazines by the time the surrender was negotiated.

I suspect that morale distribution is fairly similar in this conflict!

Didn’t President Trump put a stop to military supplies to Pakistan ?

Perhaps Hunter Biden has recently returned from Pakistan with a fat brief case…

Kremlin is admitting a defeat in Kharkiv and pouring the blame on Russian military command instead of Putin. Didn't he just a few weeks ago claim the command to himself?
We'll be seeing some rapid changes in the high command, me thinks.

Kremlin officials and state media propagandists are extensively discussing the reasons for the Russian defeat in Kharkiv Oblast, a marked change from their previous pattern of reporting on exaggerated or fabricated Russian successes with limited detail. The Kremlin never admitted that Russia was defeated around Kyiv or, later, at Snake Island, framing the retreat from Kyiv as a decision to prioritize the “liberation” of Donbas and the withdrawal from Snake Island as a “gesture of goodwill.” The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) originally offered a similar explanation for the Russian failure in Kharkiv, claiming that Russian forces were withdrawing troops from Kharkiv Oblast to regroup, but this false narrative faced quick and loud criticism online. The Kremlin’s acknowledgment of the defeat is part of an effort to mitigate and deflect criticism for such a devastating failure away from Russian President Vladimir Putin and onto the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the uniformed military command.

Kremlin sources are now working to clear Putin of any responsibility for the defeat, instead blaming the loss of almost all of occupied Kharkiv Oblast on underinformed military advisors within Putin’s circle.

Here's an example of the capabilities of the modern day Russian army. In this tweet we are told to be seeing couple of companies’ worth of T-80 tanks of the 4th Guards Tank Division.
The 4th Guards is part of the 1st Guards Tank Army, located close to Moscow and generally considered the elite of the regular Russian army. Their task in case of war against NATO is to be the rapid deployment force and the spear head taking out NATO forces.
They were already defeated in Kyiv in March with 400 troops claimed KIA/MIA/WIA. Now they've been defeated in Kharkiv. So the elite Russian army with the best kit available and most thorough training has been defeated by the Ukrainians TWICE in 7 months being in essence unfit for combat, probably for years.

This is the actual state of the Russian army.
