We are entering dangerous times...this seems to be quickly unravelling for Putin (good news in itself), but what next? What will happen in Moscow? The next few days or weeks could shape the global political balance for the next few decades. Does a new Russia emerge which aligns more closely with the west, or does it become a puppet of Beijing? Do we get an administration led by the hawks, who seek to rebuild the military into the force that Putin believed he had, or a democratic movement that tries to restore Russia as a confident, resource rich, nation...happy to work alongside western allies? Does Putin have any tricks left, or is his departure imminent? Lots of uncertainty, with some potentially worrying outcomes.
Thanks for the update winemaker. It would seem that things are moving at a rate that few of us could have foreseen. I would never deny etudiant his right to hold or express an opinion it just struck me that he had seemed to go suddenly quiet.
Let us hope that after all this is over we will see a world with a stable and well governed Russia.

Perhaps. But recall how Stalin treated many returning Great Patriotic War (WW2) POWs - as "traitors and collaborators" for having failed to fight to the death, and as "contaminated" by exposure to the West.
Whether Putin will do the same, each of us must guess for ourselves.

It’s looking like stuff is abandoned all over the place
Returning POWs and others to Russia
...
100% spot on. They were all treated as 'contaminated and untrustworthy' even unto death.
ISTR the Allies behaved disgracefully with respect to 'returning' certain peoples to the 'other side' after WWII, so as to avoid upsetting our red allies who were about to become our cold war foes. I think the word appeasement had been retranslated into realpolitik.
I just watched a drama-doc which showed Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili running rings round the remainder of the Allies with respect to promising democratic elections in their newly 'liberated' territiories. Just like the current lot with their dictatorship at home and fake referenda in their temporarily stolen territories. Josef even re-badged a whole russian army and air force into Polish uniform, to keep the locals in order.
PS - Don't mention Katyn. ... LFH
I recall reading stories (with no idea as to accuracy) of WWII Russian POWs attempting suicide to avoid be “repatriated” back to mother Russia.

Some highlights of a podcast of Michael Kofman in conversation with Dmitri Alperovitch today, discussing Ukraine's spectacular Kharkiv offensive:
