If they had CBUs or were fragged to civilian targets, then it's about time. They can use the excuse they were only following orders, and that will then play out as it should. Gonna make for a lot of flight crew think to re-muster to drone pilot. Countries involved in projection of power are still obliged to comply with the law. The guy at the end of the line is not the one giving directions, so it brings up the uncomfortable position for everyone that is giving orders. Not all military law permits a special military operation person to refuse the order, but it would be interesting to see it play out in a court of law. Makes for a distraction to the Red team, that's worth the candle. It is just the beginning of the legal arguments.

That image from the article should be given some airtime.WAR CRIMES prosecutor is a mill stone around the neck of Russia. Something for a T-shirt perhaps?

Do these broadcasts not contravene Article 13 (IIRC) of the Geneva Convention?

Possibly, but would they if the Russians agreed to them? None of it looks forced, unlike the Uk guy reading... telling the west they were wrong

In my view is wrong for either side to contravene the Convention, we cannot be selective about it. We do not know what promises or threats were made prior to the broadcast.
Article 13 of the Third Geneva Convention explicitly states that prisoners of war must be protected at all times, particularly from public curiosity. It is duty of the detaining power to ensure these prisoners’ rights are properly respected from the moment they are captured.
It also puts the POWs at risk from their own government if they are repatriated

In the circumstances of being accused of war crimes, the ICRC deems such photography acceptable in order to bring the abuse to public attention.

Biden is waking up to the threat of drone warfare and the USA are working to address the problem, The Ukraine has clearly shown that the drone has come of age in a spectacular fashion, from sniping, targeting and delivering weapons onto the enemy.

Bundestag approves transfer of heavy weapons to Ukraine

The resolution passed with 586 votes in favour, 100 against and seven abstentions: votes against came from the far-left Die Linke and far-right AfD.

It really surprises me that Scholz was absent for the vote - on his way to Japan. He seems to have a burning desire to stay as uninvolved as possible.

Apparently the British have intel that Putin is about to declare war on victory day.
Just as a thought, wouldn't it be a perfect timing for the west to give quarantees to Ukraine that if a war is declared it will be assisted.

Yes, I know, pretty much impossible due to umph amount of reasons, but just a thought.

Story is that just recently a railway bridge the russkies used to transport weapons from Crimea to Melitopol has committed suicide.

It is horrible what special military operation does to the mental health of railway bridges.

Mobilisation carries enormous risks for Putin - 1 million+ people under arms in a country with all its pressures, pinch points and fault lines. What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe related to this, but Biden is pushing for a $33billion aid package for Ukraine.

Still can't understand all the discussion regarding Russian and the UN. This path has been so well trodden its turned into a trench.

To do that he will be admitting to the public that the standing army he has been exalting all of these years is but a fantasy and that the losses are larger than they have been letting on, I read the USA was saying in men and material he has lost nearly 25% of the standing forces available, the fact they are returning damaged vehicles back to Russia to repair has to be an indication of the state of play with their reserves, if its easier to patched up a damaged tank than replace it, those in storage must be bad.

It's going to be a hell of a shock to the Russian public to learn their sons are being fed into the meat grinder to replace those losses they have sustained and even with general mobilisation, they are going to need to equip, train (even basically) and transport them to the front, top that off with the sh*t supply lines that are struggling to support the army at the moment, a bunch of extra mouths to feed and supply may hopefully cause those supply lines to collapse.

All the turkeys on Russian news spouting the "I think we are already in WW3 now, and it's NATO's fault" are obviously following the script to allow Putin to announce the war and blame the West..
