That is part of the DCO so can’t be decided the airport owner and shouldn’t be subject to a separate application.

Wizzair UK have reserved two more G-WUKx registrations for new 321NEOs to replace 320s, as they have said they are moving to a full 321 fleet at Luton.

So Luton is to get substantially noisier then. So much for the false claims that aircraft noise will reduce under expansion plans and explains why the airport operator put in a planning application last year to increase noise limits after failing to meet the existing limits. They got away with it for 3 successive years by giving the Council their cut so they would turn a blind eye.

LTNman I can state that the NEO and Max are very quiet when compared to the older generation models. To cheer you up LTN passengers figures for July are healthy.

This is the planning link. It's a 'building control' application, which I think means no changes to the external appearance of a building, just changes inside. There are no details.
23/06298/IN | Extension of existing first floor slab and associated infrastructure works at pier B | Pier B Luton Airport Airport Way Luton

I live near the flight path and I do think the Airbus NEOs are quieter, the sound is different and the noise falls away faster as the plane moves away.

On departure they are quieter indeed. But on arrival the A220 and the A320neo family aircraft have a high-pitched whistling noise which is quite irritating. No clue if it's the flaps, gears on else but it usually starts on 1000-1200 feet and lasts for around 8-10 seconds. It's something like the famous Yak-40 "whistle" during engine startup. See the video at 01:11.

For those that missed the official Luton Airport noise figures. Arrivals and departures are both noisier according to the airport.

Should you not be comparing an A321 neo to and A321 ceo… it’s pretty obvious an A321 is going to be nosier than an a320, it’s a bigger aircraft, bigger mass moving through the air and more powerful engines.

Lies, damn lies and statistics as Mark Twain or Benjamin Disraeli allegedly once said

Exactly the table confirms a 320NEO is quieter than a 320CEO.
Aka a 321NEO is quieter than a 321CEO so assuming the oldest Wizzair UK gets replaced, G-WUKC, happy days, quieter, less fuel used, everyone happy!

No - if 321NEOs are replacing 320's thats the comparison that should be made. What is currently operating should be compared against with what will be operating

That is by 2025 https://wizzair.com/en-gb/informatio...321neo-by-2025
Wizzair usually do things by age of aircraft and the oldest two are x1 320CEO and x1 321CEO.
There are already more NEOs in W9 fleet already.
As Luton is constrained by pax then an uplift in seats might go to LGW anyhow first.

Is the ground handling strike at Luton tomorrow (Wed 30 August) affecting FlyOne and Wizz still due to go ahead ? Similiar strikes at other UK airports seem to have been averted by negotiators deciding at the last minute they could do a mutually agreeable deal.

Five new WUK regs are booked (G-WUKV/W/X/Y/Z), all for 321neos. In case of the ceos they don't go by age but their plan is to get rid of all the 320ceos (30 re-delivered already since 2021 - only 42 left - while none of the 321ceos were given back to the lessor yet) therefore my guess would be the two 320ceos going first. In that regard the noise in LTN will be higher. More seats available with the higher noise wouldn't be much of a comfort for the people living around the airport.

You are assuming Wizzair can get passed Terminal pax restrictions and the 18m annual limit at Luton.
Easyjet are upsizing as well as more 319s are retired.

They have not much options. There are only 42 320ceos remaining in their fleet (three of which are stuck in Kyiv) which are being phased out rather quickly therefore their whole fleet will be 321 soon (aside of the six 320neos they have). Another 12 320ceo will go by March.

Maybe the pax restrictions will force their hand to swap the two UK 320CEO for 32ONEO just for next year?

Does anyone really care after the meltdown on Monday. Health and Safely was compromised due to the gross overcrowding of the terminal.
