Anyone with their eyes open will know how basic the security area is at Luton. This is another area that has never had a ceiling installed so every pipe, conduit, wire and heating duct is in full view.
The tender is for this type of installation.
The spacing will be critical to hide this mess. Where it has been used already the spacing is too wide to be effective but this seems to be more about sound deadening than aesthetics. At the moment the area looks more like a factory floor than an airport but with plasterboard bulkheads also being installed maybe everything will finally be hidden.

Contrast Luton with Stansted’s production line. The Dart is a production line but it looks good. Surroundings form part of the subconsciousness, which is why many people consider the town centre to be a dive together with its airport, as they are a matching pair. Considering the amount of money that has been spent on the terminal it would have been only a fraction more to actually give it a better finish or even finish it off, as the airport should be a showcase for the town.

This was the Luton vision but there was a saving to be made on black spray paint to hide the standout silver so Luton ended up with the photo 2 posts ago. Even this then proposed finish was a poor relation but better than now, as close examination shows the ducting on show but sprayed black.

With 8 days of strikes at Gatwick announced starting the end of July, London’s other airports including Luton will probably pick up passengers who have yet to book, just to be on the safe side.

Perhaps a temporary waver of the 18m limit should be put in place for any airlines who wish to reschedule services into Luton like Sky Express did during LHR restrictions?
Would be a good gesture to get joe public to their well earned holibobs rather than inflicting missary to thousands with no recourse to get compensation unless they have taken out third party insurance?

Not needed. Luton won’t reach 18m this year. Also I doubt the airport has the staff to handle more flights apart from the odd random one or two although spare seats on existing flights will fill up.
Those random flights, if permitted, would go to Wizz or Easyjet.

Trouble is Luton doesn't server half the routes which EZY do at LGW. OK will make AMS, EDI, BFS etc busier but what if your holiday was to Corsica or Tunisia - more so if you booked via Easy Holidays!
