Luton-10
Wizz are closing their 2 aircraft base at Suceava in Romania at the end of October 2023. Suceava will lose 6 routes, but the Luton route will remain as 12x weekly... presumably using an aircraft that spends the night at Luton. How much spare space is there at Luton overnight for A320/B737 sized aircraft ? Is winter overnight as busy as summer ? I thought LTN overnight was already pretty full... or is there a plan to free up space by making life a little more difficult for general aviation ?

Now that Lidl has opened the largest warehouse in the world, wonder if any ad hoc freight flights will be forthcoming especially just before Christmas. Noticed also DHL have gained 108 slots for winter 2023-24.

You mean less passengers. The artists impression shows a near empty departure lounge. Is this showing the airport after Wizzair collapses?

What these do is free up hangarline stands, NetJets already taken advantage of this.
If the ex MAEL ones can be kept clear then more likely to get tenants. aka rent and jobs.

So what you are saying is that there are no extra stands as they are just freeing up the hangar line. Some with a suspicious mind will see this as expansion by the back door as the hangar line will still be blocked.

On a light hearted note, anyone remember Jane in "Airline" working for Easyjet?

Luton took x4 EZY diversions due to ATC issues at LGW today, STN took Vueling & Air Europa?

Gone are the days of interesting diversions. Is it a case of the airport rejecting anything interesting to keep its based airlines happy regarding maximising their own diversions or is it that the non-Luton airlines have zero interest in the airport and want to avoid the chaos.

Exactly, Easyjet will always use Luton as an alternate due to availability of staff and handling familiar with aircraft so reduce potential out of hours and staff/transport unavailable at short notice. I think Luton now keeps x3 A320 capable stands for diversions now.
I feel for the BA Euroflyer pax who ended up at Cardiff.
Case in point, x2 Air Indias went to LHR where handling is well established. The Vueling & Air Europa pax if as was stated got dropped at STN and positioned back empty to bases, not so nice if sitting in LGW departures to go to Spain.

Sorry LTNman got to disagree, of course you are bound to get easy, Wizz diversions as they are based companies, but if my memory serves me çorrectly Luxair and BACityflyer had aircraft divert in last winter.

Welcome back night time Ad-hoc slots from tomorrow for W23.
On the subject of BizJets, looking with interest at FAB application for more annual movements, extended weekend hours and an almost doubling of permitted weekend ops. Currently Luton does well if anything runs late into FAB.
