Big mess of guts and feathers at the 32 intersection. As it took off it made a very strange dustbin lid sound.Came back with engine vibes in No1.Could have been 1 or more gulls through the core.Bet there was a smell of Kentucky Fried Seagull on board.
Foxy not seen today.

Residents of Logie probably couldnae tell the difference!!

The Metro that came down on Xmas Eve 2002, was that ever established as being caused by gulls? I seem to recall the AAIB report didn't mention them as a cause yet there were remains of a gull (at least one) on the runway found at the time?

Glad nothing befell the 320 today.

LGW rumours have made the press here finally.

Interestingly EZY have said they may be interested in flying the route if BA do indeed decide to drop it. BA are not commenting either way on the future of the route, other than talking about viability.

Any reason the Aviance staff on BA need to see your ID at the gate now? It's getting more like Ryanair all the time. The machine doesn't ask for my bank card to verify any more though the one at Gatwick the day before did.

One has to ask....why is this a problem? Is iot really that difficult to get ur ID out at the gate...such a trouble to reach into your pocket for it isnt it...suppose working at the airport you get used to it having to show ID all the time but I really don't get it why people have to moan about such a little thing like this....

It's inconsistent. Flying is stressful enough with me thinking "I have no ID on me, I might be stuck in Aberdeen", it didn't make for a good night. They were OK looking at my Exec Club card though. Why have a different procedure for different airports? Keep it simple, modern life is complex enough, and I gotta say, it's a brave company that doesn't listen to it's customers. BA Customer Care, if you read this, what's the story? ( and yes I have dropped them an email )

I really don't get it....why complain about something so silly like having to show ur ID at the gate....OK..it used to be at check-in etc but what stops someone swapping boarding passes or pasing it on inbetween check in and security control...
I'm sure BA will treat your complaint well...I'd file it away in the nearest WPB!!
Surely its about time everyone noticed what a great job the guys and gals at the airport are doing under these circumstances...only the passenger makes his/her journey stressful and NOT the people earning their wage in the terminal....it only takes a few seconds to show your id and maybe you'll get a smile in return!!!!!!

What's the big issue even if I do pass it on to someone else? They still need to get through security to fly domestically? Can you please spell out the actual danger here please? Different from a rail or a bus ticket in what way? OK so it violates the small print of the purchase agreement but what's the actual harm? Or is it people in bright yellow day glow jackets getting all hysterical again?
And your attitude to customers complaints is shameful. To be in a client facing position and to have no interest in the niggles that can ruin a customers journey shows that you sir are in the wrong job.

Sorry.....still don't get your problem....."HAve your id ready....." and away you go...really simple....
You could easily have passed your boarding pass onto someone identified as a threat....
Just show em your id and smile....its got nowt to do with the people in dayglo jackets....just they are earning a wage and doing what they're told!!!
Whilst having a moan....is the grass short enough near the runway or would you like a moan about that too!!!!

So this is all just in case I pass on my boarding card to someone that might be a threat who has to pass through security anyway? Really? I am sick of all this big brother nonsense and hysterical fussy people getting all upset. Your attitude is pretty bad considering I'm the one paying your wages as a customer. And as for people just doing as they're told, well the morons x-raying my grannies high heels, they're just doing as they're told but it's still a pantomime. I put my digital camera in my bag going through last night, I usually, put it through seperately like a laptop as it gets funny looks on the x-ray if it's in the bag and I get stopped. Well silly me took the security man seriously when he said it would be OK. His colleague disagreed, searched all my possessions and told me it was because there "could be something concealed inside". Did she have the brains to ask me to open it so she could see inside? No, she was too busy swabbing my rucksack for "traces of explosives" Better hope there were no tweezers concealed in there. Air travel at the minute is a pantomime, so excuse me if I don't smile at you as you change the rules from day to day obey moronic orders like a thick sheep !!! For God's sake.

Applies at all UK airports I would have thought, as long as the authorities perceive there to be a terrorist threat to this country.

Which probably means, thanks to Bliar, ad infinitum.

Ha...don't think I'd see the rare event you smiled as I dont get the privelidge of seeing passengers...I'm just supporting the great guys and gals who work up front at the airport dealing with the fabulously friendly passengers (and the few miserable ones) that pass through the terminal....
It was good to hear that they swabbed your bag....and that you noticed those great people doing their job just as they'd been trained to do it and therefore making your flight not only one of the most pleasant ones...but a safe one too....how amazingly simple was that to do and follow? Bet it only took a matter of minutes eh....wonder what else you could have been doing instead eh??

Skipness....sorry to hear you think my attitude is bad seeing as you pay my wages....I'm just having a laugh actually at how worked up people like you let them get themselves in the airport environment...next time....deep breathing excercises may help...and put yourself in the shoes of the workers at the airport and think how you'd feel if you were treated badly at work every day....luckily it doesnt happen to me...but when I go thru the terminal I see it happening!! But I'm glad you think you pay my wage!!!!!!!!!

The people in yellow day glow jackets are simply doing their job... It is part of their job to ensure only people with a valid boarding card for that flight board that aircraft. Remember the security measures at the gate are actually for YOUR benefit not theirs! They don't get on the plane, YOU do. I'm sure you would be the first to complain if security was compromised because they didn't do their job properly. They don't make the rules, they are simply paid (apparently by you) to make sure they are followed. And you having your ID and boarding card ready with a smile makes their job a lot easier and a lot more enjoyable.

I give up. That's not what most passengers think. You're all right, I'm wrong I'll smile. What do I know, I'm only a customer.
ATCO read the threads on pilots and security. It is having the most awful effect on frequent fliers and people going to work. And that amount of stress isn't worth it.
Boarding cards ready, liquids or toileteries?, be a sheep, shuffle forward, smile, take your jacket off, show your laptop, sorry that toothpaste is too big, random pat down check sir, can you empty your pockets for me?, take your shoes off, stand on the dirty floor, may i open your bag sir, swab your possesions for explosive traces, im only doing my job sir, and then of course, show your passport to fly in the UK.
Yeah I was tired, I fly a lot, and I am coming to hate it. Different rules for almost every airport and trip I take. God love the pilots who do this nonsense every day. Bin Laden must be laughing himself silly. Chaps, I meant no personal offence to the people in the yellow day glows. But it's all adding to a climate of fear in a world where the captain has his nail scissors confiscated but sits next to fire axe.......

Absolutely off-thread
If you want to experience flying which is total pleasure, go to Brazil. I have just done a couple of internal flights with TAM. Faultless from ticket purchase to landing.

SKIPNESS....I do get the search everyday just like pilots....but even when we go on breaks we have to come back and get the same search again...so maybe we get it 5 times more than pilots
