Skipness has a point.I have looked in BA web site and can't find anything about you must have photo I.D for Domestic.Ryanair and Easyjet yes and it is clear in their terms.BA well I don't know.Have Aviance got it wrong?
As far as security well we just accept it,but sometimes I wonder.Confiscating a tea spoon of eyedrops,or a yoghurt isn't going to stop a hardened terrorist. It's also the different rules that apply even with the BAA empire.Shoes off here, belts off there. What are security looking for peering under the bonnets of some cars. Then behind me is a fuel tanker, with enough explosive power to launch it into space, straight through. Why did I get frisked the other day, having not set off the machine. Why was I forced to remove my shoes and walk through a filthy soaking carpet with security laughing.I then had to talk to a Rescue heli trying to save someone missing in the North Sea.
As a controller I can have the capability of killing hundreds of people with nothing more than the slip of a pen.Security appears lip service and often petty nonsense, and just winds up people who's business is aviation safety.

Skipness definitely has a point.....
From BA website:
From BA website:
We do not require to see a passport or photo identification if you are travelling on purely UK domestic flights* (i.e. with no onwards international flights).
If you are travelling on an e-ticket, you will need to have the credit/debit card originally used to pay for the booking. This is for identification purposes only and you will not be charged again.
*If your credit card has expired since payment was made, you have a new credit card or you do not have your original credit card you used for payment with you, you will not be able to use the Self-Service kiosks or check-in desks. Please go to the ticket desk at the airport. The ticket desk will be able to check your booking and enable it for check in.
You will be required to present an acceptable form of ID, as per the list below, if you do not have your original form of payment credit card with you at the airport.
*If the credit card holder is not travelling and you have an e-ticket bought by someone else, you will need to obtain the email itinerary receipt from the credit card holder, as it is required at check-in. You will need this document AND an acceptable form of identification at the airport.

British airways LGW-ABZ
Nothing better to do so put in a test booking for the above route, random dates with dep from LGW on 15th May and return from ABZ 21st May.
One way Northbound on all 3 flights was £216 (£48 on all 7 from LHR)
Southbound was £218 on all 3 flights but again (£48 to LHR on 6)
So roughly a return from LGW-ABZ is £434 but LHR-ABZ is £96
I would think that BA may use the "poor advance bookings" excuse as a reason to drop the route although with fares like that they obviously dont want anyone booking it in the first place

If the LGW route is dropped I think the ABZ should be looking for a Stanstead route as there's seems to be plenty of interest. Did Air UK not run one the dropped it despite it still doing alright?

When I booked LGW-ABZ for last weekend in September, the lowest price is markedly higher than comparable Glasgow and Edinburgh timings which led people to believe the flight was rather profitable. It was almost full both ways but twas the weekend I guess. Might be more to improving revenue on LHR-ABZ and deploying aircraft onto non overlapping services.

BIZZARE SECURITY
I just took a flight in one of HMG's 'planes that do a bit of flying around dirty and sandy places at the mo, with a rifle and several hundred rounds of ammunition. Nothing odd there you may say, considering what's happening out there, but before I got on the a/c, my leatherman had been taken off me... Go figure.

It was at post 2 and it was PiG rain outside. There is a ''rug'' there which was soaked and minging because everyones jack boots had already been across.God knows what was lurking on it.Ha Ha very funny walk across in your socks.Ho Ho....Want to move from T8 to T1 when I'm busy...Hmmmm
I am always polite to security unlike some, but the rules seem to change on a daily basis.I'll remember that I'm only been asked, not instructed to take shoes, belts off etc. What if I decline politely.

The BA web page is interesting.Up to the 29/3/08 there are 4 flights each way from £45 per sector. From 30/3/08 it goes to 3 ABZ-LGW and 3 LGW-ABZ from £218 per sector. This must be the summer schedule, and hopefully the cheaper prices aren't out yet,or at £436 it going to be a ghost plane.

Well probably ABZ-LGW has done not too bad, since GSM ditched most of their winter schedule.I suppose that would be a good time to bin it.
Most rumours even from the Evening Depress has some semblance of truth attached.
Anyway it is still basically the DAN-AIR timing on that route, since BA drove them to the wall. The previous BA Gatwick service was a farce. That's why DANS did well on it.If BA ditch it then it will be their loss-AGAIN.

We have a weeks holiday booked in Bavaria and booked flights from Aberdeen to Zurich and we were going to travel by rail from Zurich to our destination.
I have flights booked ABZ-LGW for Sunday 20th April, overnight stay in at Gatwick and return 29th April (returning from ZRH on 28th again with an overnight stay in Gatwick) We are travelling on from LGW to ZRH, BA flights again. Both flights have been booked via Airmiles website. When I go and check now, none of my flights ABZ-LGW are available and when you key LGW as your destination, then it is only giving you LHR options!!
I am really angry about this as if we cannot get to LGW what about our other flights to ZRH?
We could fly to our destination in Germany via LHR to MUC but will BA let us amend the LGW-ZRH flights without cost to ourselves???? Time to find out I think.
