Looks as if Wideroe's extra BGO flight arrives in ABZ at the unearthly early hour (for Abdn) of 0710Mon, having previously been thought (by me as well) to be a Sun evening arrival, the a/c nightstopping. Not so it seems.
Don't recall previously early Scandi arrivals being particularly successful. Air UK used to have a SVG arrival 0715 (F50) but I don't recall dealing with many pax in the short time I was there, whilst SAS also for one summer had a 0715 SVG arrival, DC9.
What about X9's own BGO flight? Any news on it getting off the ground any time soon? Still shows on their website.

Any idea who owned the 146 that departed on Sunday afternoon? - thought it was one of the Flightlines but it had a red circular logo on the tail. With the FLT planes there was 4 146's on stand Sun afternoon.

ABZ-DUB
Total Cost of Flight 20.00 GBP
O/B Dec 8th, I/B Dec 10th
Question.
Would YOU risk the £20? (bearing in mind current handling firm vacates the premesis on the 7th)

Q400/Wideroe
2-4 will be Stavanger.
With SAS withdrawing from using the type on their services, does this also apply to WIF - think it does?
Are they using the DH8C on ABZ instead, or canx those rotations that used the Delta?
I wonder if X9 & T3 may see an opportunity to nick some business off WIF, if they are having a/c availability problems.

It is being axed but the cancellation has not yet been announced or made public. Crying shame - must be one of the longest-established routes from Gatwick, dating back to Dan-Air days.

If BA is stopping the service, it may well be to do with the 'oil' services consolidating at LHR as Skipness says. Also bear in mind that with the GB Airways franchise ending, BA have decided to re-launch services to FAO, AGP, etc etc from LGW and that hulls will be required to fly those routes.
Take the oil revenue connections from ABZ to LGW and move it to LHR and what does the ABZ-LGW route bring to corporate profitability? Let's face it, ABZ is a small rural town with not enough catchment area to be served by both LHR and LGW - which is also why it doesn't have a big network of destinations to anywhere. Aberdeen is smaller than Newcastle, and it lost its LGW flights about a year ago.

All I am saying is that BA are a profit-orientated business, not a state-controlled and funded organisation.
Take the oil transfers from the LGW route and suddenly BA find that they can make more profit by redeploying the aircraft by flying to X, Y and Z. What is your problem? If the numbers warrant it, they may well end up sending A321's from LHR to ABZ, .... if not, why should they do anything? If there is profit to be mad by flying ABZ-LGW I'm sure someone (possibly with lower operating costs) will step into the gap.
In any business, capital is a limited resource; and as such has to deployed to best advantage.

Is this true that BA are pulling ABZ-LGW?? I booked flights last week for next April and also booked connecting flights from LGW to ZRH. I will be mega peed off if I cannot get to Gatwick as I have also booked 2 overnight stays at LGW for the start and end of the journeys!!

Probably not joking since 757s will probably be earmarked for 'Project Lauren' so you will only see most of these on the continent or in the USA and not doing the domestics!

The BA 757's will not feature at T5 and they will move to T3 come April? 2008. The SH destinations served from T3 will be (from memory) HEL, MAD, BCN, NCE.
The reason is that the 757's have bulk loaded holds and they are not compatible with the baggage systems in T5. The A319's are being container enabled afaik prior to T5.
