Aye TAD, but you live in the middle of the country and choose to drive ten miles each way to Balmedie "all the time" to walk your dog! I hope that you are carbon offsetting
Getting back to the airports theme: The only way that Dyce will expand in the future is if Aberdeen City and Shire diversify from the oil industry and actively attract new industries. Tourism is the obvious one and Trumps golf centre would have been a huge money spinner for the area. Managed correctly there is no reason why Aberdeen couldn't become the "Dubai of the North". Dubai had no tourism at all until the Emirates Course was built in the late 80's and it is now one of the biggest tourist centres in the world.
Until Dyce starts becoming full of widebodies bringing tourists to our area instead of tiddly little Jetstreams there is no prospect of great airport expansion or NATS even thinking of upgrading TAD and his mates from ATCO3/Band2

Well my carbon offset is a solar water heater which saves a huge amount of oil every year.I also take 2 wheels to work, motorbike,or pushbike for the vast majority of the year so no traffic jams. The car which is Diesel unlike letMflys,is hardly used, and in fact I go to Balmedie about once a week now.
I also use water butts, grow my own veg, have a little wind turbine which is used to recharge batteries.
So that qualifies me for a Wolly Pully ,but I usually overtake Coonciler Ford on the Fazer.
Back to the Airport, that it was interesting to see it with a few giant jetliner the other day cos of the footie, and it was falling apart. No stands, parking on 23 etc and this was only a few 737s.Widebodies
I still think that the Trump thing will get passed eventually. He will come over and see to the Cooncilers. The squirrel will prevail.
So letMfly will you be the first in line to pay the hundreds of £ to get on this place,or is it 2 for 1 round East Aberdeenshire again.
TAD Band 2 forever.

Mare like the "Siberia of the west"

ps. TAD, looks like "The Don" may yet be able to wear his tartan plus 4's - Scottish Govt have "called in" his plans, so that Meenisters can decide...something about "the national interest."

Out the door looking at the latest news
Maybe the 'huge' runway extension could've been approved if he had been toppled before.

What's the latest on the Houston flights then

Throw a dyce.............................
I am afraid the odd biz jet does make a difference because I am fed up getting noise complaints from Cordyce View!! Also East side cant cope with many more movements until re-surfaced!!

Parking Wide Body A/C on 23.................
This is done for adhoc flights because 9 times out of ten the people who handle these filghts havent even got a tow bar to push and tow a/c. The Yak 42 springs to mind.....

EGPD1829,
I don't understand what you're saying. What difference is re-surfacing going to make on the East-side when large jets are parked there already. So why don't the BAA get on with it?
The place is getting more hopeless on a daily basis. We will just back them up on the taxiway and wait. The other day,one broken down KLM on Stand 2 and the place ground to a halt again. For gods sake pour some new concrete.

TAD, careful you don't bump into Cllr Ford as he cycles round & round in ever decreasing circles.

PUMABOY, the city could do with a bloody good clean, esp the granite buildings in the city centre. We have a "common good fund" but all it's good for is for commissioning new statues it appears. Use the money to CLEAN THE PLACE UP, back to the way it was when I was young...it was nice once.

See the airport is on track for +3.5m pax to end the year, boosted by Dons fans off on the travels. Not for much longer...

And ABZ is also on track for it's busiest ever year in terms of aircraft movements. The 120,000 barrier will be broken for the first time and it could be as many as 122,000

See though domestic pax figs are down overall, put down mainly to RYR axing the LPL service.

Blip, or a trend on the domestic front? Am I right that UK domestics overall are down & have been for a while, but first time that has been reflected overall at ABZ.

RT,
Well the Cooncilers (except Mr Ford)are behaving like labrador puppies. They wee on the floor, get told off, roll over to get their tummies tickled,a biscuit and a pat on the head from Trump. Mr Ford got removed from the planning committee for doing his job, which he was elected to do.Even the Cooncilers said he hadn't done anything wrong, apart from upset The Squirrel.
Didn't you notice that one of the golfing hotels at St Andrews is millions of pounds in the red.
Anyway in October the airport cracked 11,000 movements.Busiest ever, but then it's helicopters and we all know they don't count.Might be something to do with the $90 oil price, because it's getting harder to find. When it gets to $200 a barrell, you'll be joining me and Mr Ford on our push bikes maybe?

TAD .... maybe Mr Ford was doing the job he was elected to do but it appears he was not representing the views of those that elected him thats why he was punted .... nothing to do with Mr Trump tickling anyones belly!

Find it bizzare that someone who elects to cycle to work as part of their carbon footprint maintenance controls aircraft for a living?? How many 4x4's does it take to provide the same emissions as a departing 737 or 320??

Anyhow ..... yes helicopter movements are related to $90 oil price ..... many marginal fields become commercially viable at that price hence increased exploration / development activity. $200 a barrel won't make any difference to folks preference for cars and by then the bypass will be open so I will get to the first tee of Trumps new course in record time.

Polska

Last day today for the Polish community in the area to complete the BAA survey, re the possibility of a Polish link to ABZ.

BAA say the response that been unprecedented with over 3,000 replies.

The data will be passed to the airlines concerned...but do T3 have a Jetstream to spare?

Seriously though, as I have said, expressing a preference on a survey is one thing, using any service that comes on the back of it is another.

Oh well I'll just grow turnips in my garden.Meanwhile all you suits will be holding/waiting as the airport is shut.No doubt glaring at your watches and hissing at the ground staff.
