Armour in Brest seems confirmed as moving to the east.

Shame about the comedy background with the mag drop and subsequent fumbling around.

The NLAW certainly seems to be effective and becoming the weapon of choice. I’d expect sales to those facing those hostile forces equipped with Russian armour to spike significantly in the future.

There’s no sales demo as proven operational effectiveness.

If the Russian involvement in Ukraine over the last 8 years has taught us anything, it is that off-duty soldiers love to spend their vacations fighting in foreign wars. Very often, they are allowed to take their equipment with them. Its perfectly normal, and Putin has previously said that he is completely fine with it.

Poland has updated SA-8 systems with digital fire control systems. If they are as easy to operate as the Original version was (I have actually worked on the things as both a maintainer and operator at Spadeadam) anybody who has half a brain can operate them with very little training, They were designed to be operated by Conscripts and Reservists with minimal training. As soon as you have acquired a target and locked on, the system will not let you fire until the target is within no escape range as which point the "Target in Zone" lamp light up and you can press the fire button. Everything beyond that is fully automatic. Also it has a Camera which the operators can see the picture from in the cabin. Should the target deploy chaff or active ECM, The operators can switch to assisted track which over-rides the auto tracking system and allows the target to be followed via cross hairs on the screen. If the missile is in flight, it will go for the point where the crosshairs are pointing and the Proximity fuze and warhead should make up for any errors. Where the training is paramount is in operating them in an environment where friendly aircraft are operating, plus how to recognise an ARM coming down your beams so that you can kill the radar(s) before it hits you. .

It is just awesome to see all of Europe, including Germany - Finally- providing Ukraine with offensive and defensive weaponry.
The really unexpected thing is the stupendous fight being put up by the Ukrainian military and wider population- simply incredible.
It seemed unthinkable a few days ago, but dare we dream that Russia might lose? The whole world will be hoping so.
We now need someone to assassinate Putin ASAP. If he thinks he is going to lose, then I fear he would push the button. In fact, I am sure of it.
I am sure that if he were to vanish without delay, then cooler Russian heads might prevail. The Russian military could be dismantled, sanctions put in place to prevent it ever having a military again, but allowing it’s economy to rebuild.
The alternative is unthinkable.

Oh, one more thing needs to happen…Zelensky should become President of the World. Ukraine elected a comedian and got a stunning leader…in the UK we did precisely the opposite.

Slightly tongue in cheek, but only slightly.

The leadership shown by zelensky is outstanding.

And I’m seriously impressed by the fight being put up not just by Ukraines military, but their population too, and the success that they’re having.

A few days in, and Russia has achieved much less than they wanted to in this timescale, and are now having logistical issues…..

We are trying to contain discussion to the major threads (Mil, JB and R&N) but it’s not easy! Don’t forget we have to read it all, nonsense posts and hyperlinks included 🙊😇

You are having a laugh right. One of the 3 world superpowers and you are going to try and make them give up their armed forces thereby instantly making them a third world country.

They would definitely go nuclear before they would ever allow that. And to be fair that would be unreasonable.

Just because one crazy man is at the helm doesn’t mean the whole country is bad. I think we saw that with trump. A crazy man can make good people do wrong. And bring out all the crazies to follow him. Trump and Putin have a lot in common. Just thankfully Trump didn’t have 20 years in office to solidify his control.

It’s amazing, three days in and not only haven’t the Russians taken there first objectives, they seem to be being pushed back…
