Yeah that tweet thread is a bonfire though - why I dislike twitter, but that's where the info is. Who knows, even if there is wreckage that is identifiable it'll be difficult enough to tie to those videos.

This man is 80-year-old, showed up to join the Ukrainian army, carrying with him a small case with 2 t-shirts, a pair of extra pants, a toothbrush and a few sandwiches for lunch. He said he was doing it for his grandkids in #UkraineRussia

thanks for your message, it was most helpful! unfortunately I can't respond due to following reason: "MJ89 has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space."

For others: I am sorry for this off topic but found no other way to push this message through.

Carry on..

"The Russian invasion of Ukraine has led to false or misleading videos and photographs being posted on social media claiming to be from the conflict.

Some of those checked by the BBC include footage from previous conflicts in Ukraine or elsewhere in the world, and images of troops on exercises.

Social media platforms such as Twitter seem to be taking a proactive role in confronting misleading content, removing several videos shown to be misleading by fact-checkers and researchers."

Regarding misleading videos and pictures: Who in their right mind believes that this formation would be in an active war zone?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Youtubers of the world have cobbled together videos from old sources, with a view to boosting their channel. Mercifully very little appears to be getting through, at least on Youtube.

On Japanese TV channels we are getting more and more footage of ‘Russian’ armoured vehicles entering Kiev.
Pinch of salt?

Why oh Why - Loads of Aeroflot flights heading for European cities.

Europe is demonstrating it's "bunch of little countries" ideology.

Lemonade party in a brewery - Putin must be laughing his socks off.

They've been doing that for quite some time. Watching out for Gotland in case the cossacks begin something nasty from Kaliningrad.

Again: From what are you deriving that NATO is not capaple of deterrence? Which NATO Country has been attacked/invaded?

Their two SIGINT configured Gulfstreams have been running racetrack patterns off the coast of Kaliningrad pretty much everyday for past month or more.

I don't know - I think a lot of the bright points of light are flares. Need to catch up with what has happened whilst I was asleep.

Ukrainian armour - not that they don’t have the Z the Russians have marked their vehicles with to be able to their forces apart…

Remember there’s a lot of disinformation about regarding troop and armour movements - both deliberate and accidental….

You could be right. On the Beeb this morning there was footage from what looked to be two different crash sites, one an apartment complex purportedly in Kiev, the other a house or farm building. The wreckage at the latter looked to me like the remains of an Su25 - no seat so the pilot did eject, fate unknown. The fog of war and all that.

FWIW Sky's coverage is worth watching. They have a reporter in Kharkiv whose doing live segments during lulls in the bombardment. Balls of kevlar.

Re tracked vehicles in Kiev. Thanks ORAC, makes more sense and fits the footage that I saw.

Incidentally I have seen footage of Russian armour entering from the Crimea with a diagonal white line along the vehicle sides; in other regions vehicle columns seem to be marked with a large O, a large triangle, a horizontal red line, or a Z, for starters. I think Putin may be wanting to show his force as some kind of quasi 'UN' peace keeping mission.

Rumour warning. One Japanese news site reported today that three bridges have been blown to the north and east of Kiev. Usual disclaimers apply.
