Is Ukraine about to have a war?
Brief comment on the American contribution of artillery/MLRS that's been bandied about in the news of late:
I doubt that ATACMS (which is an option for the MLRS launcher system) will be provided. That may be what people were talking abut in terms of the long range artillery/rockets/missiles not being sent. You can either put two ATACMS or 12 MLRS rockets on the same vehicle/system.
Whether or not the GMLRS will be provided is interesting to speculate on.
Aviation content to this post: the A2C2 (Army Air Command and Control) and other coordination between aircraft and the artillery firing units is important given how high in the air the missiles fly. (And for that matter, how high indirect fire/howitzer rounds fly). It may seem to be a big sky / little airplane situation, but does one really want to be in that volume of airspace when these rounds are passing through? I'd say no.

In this case, Ukraine will be using HIMARS in the east in LNR and DNR. Not much friendly aircraft in that area to worry about.

What, did we shoot all of our normal MLRS rockets? Peter, I do not understand that pithy remark. Can you offer a more detailed explanation?
I have a vague recollection about people getting all up in arms over the sub munitions that MLRS distributes over a battlefield (or can, depends on what is in the rocket), and I think that the Israelis came in for a lot of criticism for something similar to that back in the 00's when they had a scrap with Hezbollah, as regards sub munitions.

On Op SHADER they used HIDACZs, partly because of the use of HIMARS. It made airspace coordination interesting for our pilots, especially because of the size of the area we used to operate in.

Both sides being put through the meat grinder.
See the UKR casualty rates - then remember that Russia is losing between. 3-6 soldiers for every one lost by UKR…

Bloomberg: Hungary blocks EU's 6th package of sanctions against Russia.
Hungary asked for Patriarch Kirill, the head of Russia’s Orthodox Church who supports the war in Ukraine, to be removed from the next list of sanctioned individuals, Bloomberg reported.

I’ll believe when I see the first ships safely depart through the Bosporus…
Lavrov: Putin, Erdogan tentatively agree on unblocking Ukrainian ports.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the two leaders agreed during a phone call on May 30 that as soon as Turkey clears the Ukrainian ports of mines, cargo ships will be able to leave.

And why on earth will Ukraine wish to open the sea route into Odessa by demining it, that’s just opening itself up to attack. The only. way I could see that happening is if NATO put ships in to prevent Russian incursions.
I still cannot fathom the USA’s lend lease agreement, it’s like tying One of Ukraines Hans behind their back. By selling them restricted range rocket systems that will be vulnerable to Russian artillery strikes is pointless without allowing them air assets etc to defend them, all that does is drag out the war even longer and does not stop the pointless deaths of civilians, it’s like a drip fed death, and it still does not allow them to drop the Crimean bridge. It would in a way be like selling the U.K. lend lease shipping during WW2 that didn’t have the range to resupply the U.K.
The sooner they give them the equipment to finish the job, the sooner it will all end.
THE EU needs to get tough with Hungary and look at removing them from it.The EU has the means to punish them financially

Only half a speed-brake
Ukraine could take out that Kerch Strait Bridge if they thought it necessary and really put their mind to it. Might involve Kamikaze pilots though.

I do, have you seen the request for another 18 billion from the EU to cut off the oil supplies, it’s trying to blackmail the EU who should return the favour.

General Nakasone confirmed for the first time that the US was conducting offensive hacking operations in support of Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion.
He told Sky News: "We've conducted a series of operations across the full spectrum; offensive, defensive, [and] information operations."
