A commercial aircraft at 33000 over Kiev. When I looked at the route it was from Tel AViv to Rovaniemi in Finland. Quick change of flight plan once in Belorussian airspace and on to Moscow. News saying Moscow was informed of the visit 2 hours before he departed.
Or it could have just been a misplaced aircraft that was out of place on FR24.

Well there's a bunch who are going to have plenty of time of their hands over the next few weeks and months, if not years ...
I said this earlier, but I think if the Chinese did have any plans they may be in tatters now. I think the way this has played out will give them pause for thought.
The Taiwanese are a much, much better trained and equipped force. With a much closer relationship with the US than Ukraine has.
Obviously the Chinese force is huge but they are not very good at amphibious operations.

I think the Chinese are looking a lot further away to the north. A tempting border there, and no need for amphibious troops. The country the other side of that border doesn't have many friends to come to its aid.

Looking at the maps Russian progress has been fastest in the SE of Ukraine. I wonder whether Putin's intention is gaining a land bridge to Crimea and to create an enclave there including addional land for Donetsk and Luhnask.
When that has been achieved ask for a ceasefire and withdraw all his troops from from the rest of Ukraine???

I suspect that if he does go down this route, he will be wanting a significant lifting of Western sanctions, perhaps in exchange for a port…
