Is Ukraine about to have a war?
Applying my knowledge of physics to the way people die is not something I dreamed of doing as a child.

Found that on the range heaving the targets up and down from the pits, you didn’t hear them till they winged over your head.
is this poor bastard running away on fire? Do they not teach them to drop and roll to put out the flames?

It always surprised me how a Country can be a major ams supplier and neutral at the same time.

Beware very graphic, a Russians final moments. You have been warned. Link in quote only, not adding the usual link in thread that shows, your choice, it shows his drowning after possible brain injury..
I wouldn’t wish this on anyone

It is my choice, and I have chosen not to look. Thanks for the advanced warning, Nutloose. I feel deep sorrow for all the people sucked into this meat grinder by the grand visions of a one-track warlord with no reverse gear.

As with the naked child with napalm burns running down a Vietnam road or the soldier executed by pistol shot on the streets of Saigon or the burnt corpse in the truck as the Iraqi’s fled Kuwait, these have to be seen to show the world that War isn’t the A Team where they spray machine gun fire and no one gets killed, but it is horrific and brutal and is not the sanitised rubbish you see on mainstream TV.
The sooner mankind wakes up to the fact that we are the only species on this planet that kills for “sport / fun” and recognises war in its bestial form gets you exactly nowhere, then perhaps we will learn from it and adapt.
So if posting a lone soldier dying in a stream for one maniacs rantings opens the eyes, then we all might see a glimmer of light at the end of a very long tunnel and his death though terribly sad, may be a small step towards ending it all..
If I have offended I apologise, but far worse is being committed against the innocents of this world such as the Ukrainian Women and Children as I type.

Not disagreeing with you NL but the Americans tried it in WW2 with graphic footage of the invasion of Tarawa. It was the first time that dead Americans were shown to the cinema going public. All social media is just another form of visual information and graphic footage has never stopped the next war. The politicians and generals of WW2 had all been part of WW1. It didn't stop them either having been participants.
Yes I made the decision to post “war porn” as you succinctly put it, but with caveats warning people and avoiding linking it directly so it wouldn’t automatically display in the thread and I feel rightly so, why you may ask, well…..

Did I watch the clip? No, Does that undermine all that I have said? Probably. War is obscene, images of it are obscene, but we need to remind ourselves of the obscenity involved. How we do that is a personal decision but we must always be aware of the obscenity.
Almost correct! I am a keen marksman and hunter (I live in North America so given that everyone aged 3 and up has guns where I live, I thought I should as well), and I am now schooled in firearms in a way I never was in the military. (An aside - I joined a gun club here and the instructor is ex US Marines Sniper and taught me about a 100 things about marksmanship that I never heard in 30 years in the UK military...just saying). You are just about there in your statement. To explain, the saying apparently comes from British Servicemen in WWI, who got hit and said 'I never heard the bullet'. It became a 'thing' - 'you never hear the one that get's you'. They were actually referring to the 'bang' of the shot. This is of course because bullets/rounds from almost all weapons travel considerably faster than the speed of sound, so the bullet that hits you does so before the sound reaches you, and the initial trauma of being hit probably dulls the senses enought that the sound a few seconds (or whatever) later is not registered. Equally, if you hear the 'bang' and have not been hit, the bullet has long gone past you.

Bit of a difference there between direct fire rifle rounds that generally are supersonic when they pass or hit (pass close enough and you get a supersonic crack) and arty rounds that generally never break the sound barrier as you don't want to deal with the transonic region that will destabilize the round.

A Telegram channel linked to the Wagner Group has published an insider account of the only known clash between the mercenary group and the US military – the 7 February 2018 battle near Khasham in Syria, in which many Wagner fighters reportedly died. ⬇️

That soldier was Russian. Why should I feel sorry for him after what his comrades (and perhaps he) have inflicted on the people of Ukraine? He chose to fight and in so doing risked death however it might come. What do people expect?!!

The manufacture of artillery shells, I am surprised how simple and low tech the stencilling is compared to the rest of they system, and also the packing.
