Possibly the secondary charge is initiated by the first charge - one "fuse" initiates 1st charge, 1st charge initiates 2nd charge. Frankly know s*** about the specific subject, but would imagine that for an ATGM to be used in this fashion that it may be aimed at the ground, rather than directly at the poor receiving sods.

Kornet looks like a heavy & expensive weapon to be used in this manner & not something that the yellow & blue guys really have / use?

The Institute for the Study of War think-tank said “the West's failure to provide the necessary materiel” last year was the main reason Kyiv's advances had halted since November.

That had allowed Russia to apply pressure at Bakhmut and fortify the front against a future Ukrainian counter-attack, its researchers said in a report, though they said Ukraine could still recapture territory once the promised weapons arrive.

This looks like an interesting documentary, but I can't watch it on BBC iPlayer site because I'm in Australia. This is really weird policy on behalf of BBC - what is the point? OK so they save some streaming server costs, which I haven't contributed to because I'm not a BBC license payer. But they don't provide me any alternative, paid or otherwise.

I guess I could work around this using a VPN. When people in Russia are forced to do that we call it censorship and repression. But when it comes to BBC content, Vlad and his team don't even have to block it - the beeb have done that for them. What do we call that?

Overall I like the beeb (despite a bit of a "cultural style guide" flavour - what media org doesn't have their own today?) and I do enjoy a few radio shows and podcasts that they deign to let me access.

Saying that the US won’t provide F-16s doesn’t mean they’ll prevent others, such as the Dutch, doing so. The US ambassador to the OSCE has already said the U.S. has no objection to them doing so.

It should be noted that the Congress allocated $100M for Ukrainian air force training last July. The funding was not limited to training in the US and was available to fund training by other NATO allies.

And, of course, he wasn’t asked about A-10s or other fixed or rotary types.

Welcome to the war….. 👀👀👀👀👀

Major scandal in Russia.

The TV presenter Olga Zenkova from NTV was sent to occupied Melitopol to record a propaganda piece.

While visiting a restaurant, Kadyrov’s nephew Hasan Ibrahimov and men from his unit walked up to her, beat up her camera man and then raped her.…

Was this the same Kadyrov relation super-brain who gave away location data that got a hotel flattened by Himars ?

As they hand out a bag of spuds and a litre of oil to the families of their dead soldiers, I wonder what they will send this poor woman’s family for gang raping her.

Hopefully these bastards will bleed out somewhere in a long and agonising death. She may be part of the problem and Ukrainians have been suffering even worse sexual abuses torture and murder, but as a man I cannot help to feel sympathy for her plight.
In Melitopol, the Kadirov gang raped NTV journalist Olga Zenkova, who came to "cover the course of the SVO". It happened in the restaurant of the "Vorontsovsky" hotel. In the Russian Federation, it was forbidden to mention this topic in the news so as not to "discredit the army.

I don’t care much about the plight of the pro war propagandists but I do care when the tools of horror, such as rape, is “justified” or made light of, because it happened to “them”. If there are caveats on war crimes, then we’re no better than them.

Another one bites the dust, this one was a allegedly a smoking accident, I wonder if he was also stockpiling petrol in his bedroom?

In the early hours of this morning (January 26) the deceased body of a top Russian manager, with links to Russia’s State Space Corporation Roscosmos among others, was found after a fire broke out on the 17th floor of a building on Leningradsky Prospekt, Moscow.

Dmitry Pawochka, 49, who was also associated with Sukhoi, Menatep, Lukoil, Rusdragmeta and other top Russian companies, was found by firefighters tackling the blaze at the elite residential complex

who has made light of it?

It appears the military authorities in melitipol refused to open a case on the matter and the TV Channel in Russia is pursuing it.

Ukraine is asking France to train Ukrainian pilots.

https://www.politico.eu/article/fran...ng-pillot-war/

PARIS — France is considering Ukraine’s request for fighter-jet pilot training, according to an aide to French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu.

The French and Ukrainian defense ministers are due to discuss the request during a call this week, the aide told POLITICO on Monday.

This follows renewed requests from Kyiv for fighter jets last week after its European allies agreed to supply battle tanks. In an interview with the daily French newspaper Le Figaro on Friday, the Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov called on Paris to help train its pilots on French planes.

My heart goes out to this poor woman.

These Kadyrovites are completely out of control. The dogs biting the hand that feeds them. Even Putin is unable to stop them. This could be some kind of turning point however. Could he order a Wagner hit squad, or would he then be obliging himself to Prigozhin?

who has made light of it?
Agreed. No one here has reacted with less than horror at this act. Their behavior is animal and the perpetrators should be dealt with as animals. If they do this to Russian journalists try to imagine what they are doing to Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, who is lining up to be the first friends with Russia again: https://www.euractiv.com/section/pol...ns-to-ukraine/

(military content: no weapons)

If people think Scholz is a roach wait until all the nice pictures from Oesterreich come up. Putin being the best man and all... now that's a comaraderie you can trust in the bad times.

Darn.
