Well, the M113, they are finding is better than the BMP, the tracks do not come off them with hard turning, they have air on and heating, they are easier to maintain and operate, there are the odd reports saying they can struggle with freezing to the ground, but I have also seen that with Russian type tanks also frozen to the ground.

Ukraine thoughts on the M113

The prospect of a large force being prepared underground unseen and of unknown quantity that can just erupt from a score or more of entrances like a horde of Orcs must be immensely serious.
One can only speculate whether the opportunity to steal an entire lucrative industry is not also a considerable motivation for Prigozhin. I cannot imagine the idea has escaped him while he has tens of thousands of mobiks to expend in gaining that prize.
If there's only one or two ways in, there are only one or two ways out. Granted, the North Koreans and North Vietnamese use/used caves and underground tunnels to good advantage in some cases, but I don't think that 'we are in a cavern' is The Easy Button if your objective, as stated by Vlad the Putinator, is conquest of a given region.

That's nice, that's a mature training culture and facility.

Also isn’t one of the rules of combat : “If you make it impossible for the enemy to get in ….you make it impossible for you to get out!”
It is.
I am reminded of the time that my neighbor advised me, when dealing with fire ants, to take a large bottle of club soda to one of those big ant hills, open it and pour it down.
There's CO2 in the bubbles.
And it sinks.
(I backed up his suggestion with a can of Pledge and a cigarette lighter. It more or less worked, but I did have to deal with a few stragglers...)

The thing with mines and using them as shelters is Ukraine will know the exact location of entrances, vent shafts etc and are possession of precise guided munitions, they could be rapidly turned into mass tombs.

Maybe not ecologically correct, but a nice dose of gasoline (a cup or so) on the nest REALLY cures the problem. No ignition necessary, and is in fact counter-productive. The fumes seem to sink through all the tunnels and kill the bastards.

Current situation in Soledar.

UKR front lines seem unbroken, but retreating to the west of the town and stabilising around the salt mines. Russian troops on the flanks to the north and south of the town but UKR still holding the suburbs.

More on Bakhmut and Soledar, it seems all the Wagner forces near Bakhmut have been transferred to Soledar

Diesmt sound like more than a few days worth - but presumably it’s the start of a constant stream of deliveries.

Pakistan providing weapons to Ukraine

According to the business edition of India The Economic Times, 159 containers with ammunition for the Ukrainian army will arrive from the Pakistani port city of Karachi to through the port in Gdansk.

Wasps colonised a series of molehills/ tunnels in my MQ back garden, Works & Bricks and Barracks wanted nothing to do with it.

A cup of petrol in each nest/ mole heave and a match tossed.

We had a spectacular chain reaction round the patch, and I wish I had filmed it.
There is an arsonist/ bomber lurking in us all.

My dad did that to an 'in the ground' beehive behind our house after I'd stepped on it and been greeted appropriately by the denizens. (About a dozen stings). Problem sorted.

Back to aviation, nowadays a drone swarm is a whole different matter, and a lot more lethal.

wow, ****

not picked up on any twitter stuff for few months but this footage puts it all back to forefront of the invasion.

"Graphic content. Intense video of apparent russian forces assaulting 🇺🇦 positions. 🇷🇺 soldier approaches a foxhole in which two 🇺🇦 servicemen are sitting. He tells them to drop their weapons. The two, clearly confused are screaming: "friendlies! friendlies!" They are killed shortly after.

War IS hell, war in 2023 is surreal. a headcam point of view of wickedness and chaos of battle. could be 1915 in the trench's of ww1, at-least head shots are cleaner than bayonets.
poor souls. imagine the mother father brother son daughter watching there loved ones perish like this.

a pause for thought.

It looks like they were stunned and confused, he should have just let go, but as the other already put his hands up, one doubts there would have been a good outcome, or the Russians are wearing Ukrainian uniforms?

Lord Dannatt is saying send 50 Challengers not 12 according to the fail.

The war in Ukraine

Just a passing thought, if I may. After almost 11 months of war, Is it not perhaps time for this thread to be renamed?

Ah, but we have an historic timeline of discussion here. And can possibly reveal how wrong many pundits were?
