Hmmm, I wonder if he’ll pull through…..

28th Dec:

”General-Lieutenant of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Anatoly Elizarov, was almost killed by an icicle that fell from a building in Moscow.

After the incident, he was hospitalized in serious condition, with a head injury. “

I can't help but thinking that the Kremlin wants to make it absolutely clear that if anyone turns against them there is no place in the world the traitors would be safe.
It's been so since Trotsky was killed in Mexico all the way to the polonium poisoning of Litvinenko: making it in a way that sends a message. Domestically.

Also the attempted murder of Sergei and Yulia Skripal with Novichock in Salisbury (which killed a British woman).

BREAKING: Major ship insurers cancel war risk cover in 2023 for Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

This is a predictable move which reflects compliance of insurance companies with sanctions and their desire to minimize war risk

The big question is how this might impact Black Sea grain exports, as the risk of Russian sabotage of Ukrainian grain carriers remains high.

Are the ships serving Ukraine not international or Turkish, so should not be affected, however I do not think that is the case for Russia.

Can you clarify; is that owned, flagged, or territorial-waters of the nations referred to?

Edit; Belarus doesn't have territorial waters .........!

Did anyone actually see any follow-up shots?

Russian metallurgy is not bad, occasionally it is pretty good, even if they can't find the center of a foreign for machining all the time. It is still gonna be an open question as to what the tube does next "clearing" round. Perhaps they should return this tank to the Kremlin for ceremonial duties beside Vlad and fire some blanks off....

Ukraine seems to be a great source for study materials for the west. "You wanted what latest russian tech for study? No problem, we have it!"

Not yet, there was a really grainy one that I thought looked like a blast pen gone but that’s all, they have had cloud cover since from what I have read so unable to see ( or released )

https://www.theguardian.com/business...on-territories

The UK club notice explained there would no longer be coverage for loss or damage arising from the war in Ukraine, or in any territory where Russian forces are engaged in conflict across Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. That includes any seizures, arrest or restrained movement of ships and cargo in those regions.

In a notice to its members last week UK P&I club said: “Due to the impact of losses from the Russian/Ukrainian situation affecting the availability of global insurance and reinsurance capacity, the club’s reinsurers are no longer able to secure reinsurance for war risk exposure to Russian, Ukrainian or Belarus territorial risks.”

Have never been a fan of Stoltenberg's "sit on the fence" demeanor and vacillation on everything, but I'm warming to him: He is very animated here - with hand waving that is almost Latin - and he's clearly fully invested in what he's saying. I hope the audience of European politicians is paying attention and take the message to heart.

- There are definite indications that this affects all Russian territorial waters. This definitely seems to be affecting Sakhalin LNG gas from Russian Far East to Japan. In principle it also ought to affect Baltic (generally oil) and Arctic (e.g. Yamal LNG gas) waters, though I have not yet seen any evidence of Baltic & Arctic in that respect. Also it could affect Caspian waters which (if so) might impact rail/sea routes. Not so clear on Belarus (!) but see next. Ukraine waters is obv, but unclear whether all Moldova waters.

- Some other indications are that this may also affect corresponding airspace insurances, and one indication I saw referenced Belarus airspace.

- The railfreight re-insurance market is the dog that isn't barking, so far.
