A good thread to read through as to all the bridges and their state of play around Kherson.

@Nutloose … chilling reading, and indicative of the mentality of the people the Ukrainians and the civilised West have to deal with. They are from a different Planet.

At the root of the crisis is not the special military operation in Ukraine...
But of course. Even Al Capone was convinced of being a philantropist.

I doubt even the Russians know.

After the Reporter keeling over in the debate last night, the Russians just had to go one further... Muppets.

In the Donbas however it appears Russia has taken another powerplant.

Ukraine orders 100 x PzH2000 from KMW. The order was approved by the German government within two days.

By Ukraine estimates around 15,000 , or 15 BTGs in Kherson Oblast. Some of these are south of Dnipr though , for example Olesky just south of the dnipr is very heavily defended.

Article: https://english.nv.ua/nation/15-000-...-50257000.html

This is not to include Rosvguardia forces of which there are very many in Kherson city according to my friend there. Despite news reports she also says troops and formations arriving recently are better equipped and more professional , though there are still plenty of unmotivated DNR\LPR conscripts around ,the east russian ethnic forces seemed largely to have been removed to be used as cannon fodder elsewhere in the line

Yes, there are.(Nvm, wrong thread for arguing about academics and foreign policy)
And TLDR: your dichotomy is rejected as being too simplistic...maybe that's your own arrogance at work.

I think that there is precedent for something like this form the League of Nations, during the Spanish Civil War, an arms embargo that certainly harmed one side more than the other ... yes, I am being facetious in bringing that up.

"To control the supply of arms to Ukraine by the United Nations it is necessary to impose an arms embargo against this country through a resolution of the UN Security Council," said Russia's deputy representative to the international body, Dimitri Polianski, in statements granted to the Russian newspaper 'Izvestia'.
There's some grade A humor, right there, given the presentation to the UN Security Council by the Ukrainian representative on 24 Feb after the Invasion began, and the Russian member (in the President's chair) being less than supportive.
"It is clear that the Western countries will never allow this," he acknowledged, before stressing that Russia "has repeatedly transferred the problems of arms deliveries to Ukraine." "We will continue to raise them before the UN Security Council," he has assured.
And it will keep getting turned down or vetoed, yes; I guess wasting time is a thing at the UNSC.
"In the UN we do not have a dialogue with Kiev and neither did we have it before the beginning of the special operation due to the inadequacy of the current permanent representative", he pointed out...
"We refuse to use the UN as a means to engage in political dialogue" ~ I think that's how that translates, but my doublespeak translator is having some trouble with it.
At the root of the crisis is not the special military operation in Ukraine, but the wrong policies and miscalculations at the economic level on the part of Western countries,"
Hmm, root cause analysis not well done, go back to the assignment and read the instructions ...

Nutty, thank you for the light reading, it certainly was unintentional comedy: sometimes, the best kind.

.
Sure, but this is part of the standard historical defence doctrine. Get it recorded in something official - even if it's stupid - and then in 20 years when all the contemporary blogs become much more difficult to source, it becomes part of the definitive history.

Do I detect an air of desperation creeping into the outpourings of these thugs? They have no answer to the weapons now being used against them and resort to whining about how unfair it is. They can invent whatever fantasies they like, but I sense that quite soon reality is going to force itself on them and they will probably not survive the consequences.

What? from the smiling, over confident and full of s**t Putin telling the World….. We are Russia, We are Strong, We are Smart… before invading

to the frustrated, not so smart, militarily incompetent, not at all confident and hawking his ass around the third World trying to drum up support and canon fodder to try and regain some credibility having destroyed the Myth that was Russia.

You mean that type of desperation?

Local residents report that a ferry has begun to operate under the Antonov bridge. Ferry consists of PTS-2 and several sections of pontoons attached to it at behind it (reportedly 4). They transport civilian cars at the same time along with the military.

so typical of Russian to use civilians as human shield. Despicable.

The civilians should avoid using the ferry and leave the way clear for it to be sunk!

Seems there are now problems at Ukraine's largest nuclear plant, now Russian held.
Some details here, implicating a drone strike: Crisis At Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant At Breaking Point, 12 Hospitalized, 3 Dead | SimplyInfo.org
Think it insane to make a nuclear plant a military installation, despite all the cement walls.

in all probability the civilians are forced to be on the ferry. Would you voluntarily get on a Russian military ferry next to a bridge that was destroyed as accurately as this one?
