Herb decided that next time he really should put on his seat belt .. ( been there, bashed and broken my nose when my instructor demonstrated a emergency stop. Seat belts were not compulsory back then.. )

Having landed QF32 after uncontained engine failure, cannot evacuate till #1 engine is secured...

...knew it was a mistake using runway crossing the golf driving range when the " hold short " lights were out of use. .

Bruce later claimed compensation when he was made to shed weight so could still manage the reduce take off distance on Darwin's potholed runway...
