Roadster - do you know, I never knew, but I have just had a memory that at that time WRENs were not subject to the Naval Discipline Act. Perhaps one of our Dark Blue chums can enlighten us

Daphne was still searching for the 44 inches she'd been told about.

(Manifold pressure in inches of mercury of a Wright Cyclone at takeoff, apparently)

Once again some very worthy contenders, but here goes with the podium placings, and very well done to all:

3rd: Traffic is er Was, with the pleasingly un-PC 'Doris did a final check that she hadn't mixed any whites with coloured items before starting the cycle.'

2nd: Fox 3 Where's My Banana, with 'Cynthia always got this job; unsurprising since no man she knew could find a small button in a slippery darkness............"sigh"

but I have to give it to Nutloose (mainly for most creative and original expression of a sound effect) with:
"Yes.. I've found the stick and yes you appear to be right Sir, it does move up and down in my hand as if loose"
From the cockpit.....
"Arrrgggggurrgle"

Great work Nutty, all yours!

"Having trouble getting the old b*tch started in the morning? Try rubbing the points with alcohol, turn her over a couple of times until she starts to throb, open her up, slip one in the box and away she goes first time."

(Apologies to Mike Harding).

Left a bit.....up a bit......Ahhh, that's got it.
(Meteors fitted with the new RIO (Rectify Itch On-demand) were proving very popular in sqadron service).
