Captain, Navigator

Sir; there is no reason you have to have a look in the periscope, There are absolutely no witnesses to us running aground.

Dear Sir,

I take umbrage at the the most recent photograph to be targeted in the, so called, Caption Competition.

It is a well known fact that the sensitivities of many people are affected by the photographs posted therein and the latest is proof in point. Mr Clancy is hardly cold in the ground and yet I have an image of a Russian submarine thrust in front of me, upsetting me to a greatest degree, as I am forced by the choice of this picture to recall the great author. I would even go as far to say this particular unsympathetic post has brought forth more tears than the ghastly image of an elephant peering from its burrow.

Please consider more carefully your choice of photographic material in future.

Yours interferingly,

Mr Bizz. E. Body

With so many Russians in the sea and Poles on the beach, Southsea was developing a distinctly Soviet Bloc feel.

Now, I get the computer to match the scan against every photo in the whole of Facebook and.... Irina, phone number is (482) 555 4321 and....she likes kittens and MEN IN UNIFORM. Result!"

your indignation is getting old....
not so much indignation as venting some satire, irony or sarcasm.

if you want the lowest form of wit, look no further than my artless
attempts to be original, apt and absurd all at once.

and if asides are a bother, then maybe just ignore them

('No further correspondence shall be entered into' - does not sound
like proone to me)

Lookout to captain - "Nudist beach dead ahead, ten kilometres, captain"

Captain to all hands - "Now hear this. Now hear this. Prepare to break out vodka. Prepare to strip off. Last one ashore will encourage fattest lady to sing.
Not before daybreak."
