Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

Ok, Ok I can take a hint.

In 3rd place with "And the next phase of budget spending we will be looking at purchasing chairs" is Nutloose.

In 2nd place "...which makes the helicopter achieve lift. Now, my colleague will say all that again in French." by Buster Hyman.

But the winning entry, after consultation with one aircrew featured in the Photo is (despite misspelling aboot).............. "Well sir, after a long deployment, a sleeping moose can start to look pretty damn good, eh. Their hindquarters are aboat this high, and if you sneak up very quietly ..." is Arm out the window.

By the way - the CH147 was actually on budget, and only just a bit behind schedule. Cough - Coffman.
Back at ya Arm!

Well thanks very much, CWD - 'aboot' would have probably been the better spelling, in hindsight ...

I'm shooting through on a camping trip for a couple of weeks very early tomorrow morning and will be (gasp!) out of internet coverage, so in the interests of fairness, I hereby abdicate my coveted position as this round's winner to the worthy 2nd place getter, Buster (cheers, applause etc etc!!)

"Better get used to that position, Smudge, as the Crabs are going to do the same thing to us with the F35 as they have with this machine".

Despite the passage of centuries, and the acquisition of new technology, the Navy still required defaulters to "assume the position" for flogging.

who was second in the four minute mile? Bert Lavery
who was second in reaching the source of the Nile? Trevor Al Huq
who was second in reaching the America's? Lars Wolfshead
who was second to reach the pole? "Shivering" Ben Arbalaster

No one knows, because no one cares
