waiting for call
I got a candidate reference number 2 weeks ago. How long should I wait for being shorlisted?? or When could I have a phone call from HR recruitment for verification? built time in A320 well above QR requirement. no accident, no even incident. Can anyone know of current recruitment status of QR? shed light on this please.
|
Well, I am also A320 rated and meet all minimum requirements but still no call. Applied 3 months ago. You maybe more lucky than I am !
|
Does QR have a bidding system? If so, how does it work? Can you bid for certain places; to avoid certain places; for days off; certain departure times, etc? Any info is appreciated.
|
Yes you can bid for all of the above and more. Depends how busy your fleet is as to what you get. Usually you'll get something though. It all done through 'lido' bidding system.

TPD111,
It is quite possible that the training bond strategy could be referring to CTC cadet pilots and a specific training scheme and not for experienced pilots - although there would be a bond for non-typed pilots for their specific aircraft. Still awaiting clarification. |
"They just have to start up a cadet pilot programme for all nationalities" The programme covers 50 % of the cost which is very good but only for Arab nationalities as far as i know.... Thanks for any information concerning the requirements. |
Hi,
Just to add my story. 2 months application to interview. Tech exam, interview and 787 sim all on same day. Simple LHR takeoff, headings and altitudes. Join a bearing from NDB, join the 010 radial from LON. Approach to ga with cloud base 900'. Downwind APU fire, memory drills by PM after you call for them. Vectors ILS 27R land, evacuation. Didn't actually complete drill, just asking for checklist was enough. Handshake and back to hotel for beer! 4 weeks later. Passed selection. Another 4-6 weeks for offer, start date and fleet. Then between 1-6 months depending on your notice period. That's the story so far. Looking forward to a new adventure! Finding schools will be the biggest problem I think. Anyone care to recommend any British curriculum or IB schools that are good and have space? Cheers. |
QR interview on the 9th May 2012
Cloudbasher 60 I was in the set of 8 you mentioned in your post. I totally agree with you in relation to the level of hospitality whilst in Doha an on board the Qatar flights. You must have been in the first setof four guys in the sim as I was with a group of three much later in the evening and we had two 777 captains one as a captainand one running the box. Truly looking forward to a wide body but With a lot of Captains on the A320 moving to wide body aircrafts there is a strong possibility that theywill be looking for replacement Captains.
it was a beautiful experience overall and I wish you the very best as we all anticipate the good news. |

performance at the simulator assessment, report given by the interviewers and of course theoretical test result. You either pass or fail |

Black Pudding
Believe me when I say that I know what I'm talking about.
These were almost exactly the words the examiner used when explaining the selection procedure during and after the assessment. If you fail, you fail! When you pass, there are ranks according to your performance during the assessment, qualifications, and availability!! Or do you have a diferent explanation for the Spainair guys that are joinning much earlier than others that were assessed much before??? Or for those guys that already have fleet allocation and joining date and were assessed 3 months later than others still wating for the job offer?? Unlike you I don't believe that luck or being in the right place at the right time is the major factor just because someone had the kindness of explaining that to me. And when I mention "someone" I mean someone inside the recruitment department. Cheers |
Finally
Oh happy Day...
Today my Offer of Employment Letter arrived via email. Am now very happy and cheerful :p I hope all in my Situation will also get their letters. Will be FO on A320 ,joining Date open . Awesome.....:D UP |
quick Question
is this now the time to resign your previous Job ?
|
@upwhereIbelong
Happy for you mate !
From what we can see in this thread, even if you get the offer of employment letter, you can still wait few weeks before getting to Doha. My point of view is : explore your contract, sign it and send it back to them, and then wait until they give you a DOJ. Just my point of view ;):) |
I would probably not resign until you have some idea of when you will start.
It also depends on how much notice you need to give. I know some countries require 3 months while others only 2 weeks. |
Fleet Allocation
Quick Question:
For a NTSO, If you have the privilege to choose your airplane, Which one is the best overall ? For me, i would choose the A330 but since QR announced recently that they'll convert them to CARGO OPS then...........not really sure. Thank you ! |
@upwhereibelong
congrats mate... :D:D:D
by the way a quick question--- the contract mentioned to you has it changed (deduction of type rating and line training)??? or is it the same one as earlier... thanks, FL123 |
@global01
First of all I don't think we will be given any fleet choice (thinking in a practical way). And even if we are getting then why do you want to go for A330?? go with the A320. You will learn a lot in that. Personally i do love the A330. But, from learning point of view (as an NTSO)-- I would go for A320. Short flights, things happening quickly.....
But just be ready to work hard... :E:E:E:E:}:} |
FL123
That's true, But you read about 320, sounds like a disaster ... For me i take whatever they offer..
But choosing between 320, 330, 777 and maybe 787, tough decision !! Who said we don't have a choice.............;) |
@global01
That's true, But you read about 320, sounds like a disaster ... For me i take whatever they offer.. Indeed, we will take what we are offered IA!!!! :ok: |
