@Cat3BNoDH
Yes, your point is valid....
By the way the numbers are around 140-150 for span air guys At least not as long as the non TR DECs, FO and SFOs that are joinning at the time. |
Spanair
A friend of mine lives in Doha currently with QR told me that only 50 pilots from spanair stayed the rest went back to spain, is that true ?
Some time we hear 150 some time 50 ..... |
Also for what I've been told their recruitment department is so overwhelmed that they're unable to answer phones or send emails besides the ones that are supposed (good news or fail/offer of employment/ fleet allocation and DOJ) There is absolutely no problem for them to answer. They always did and still doing, but in a selective way that nobody is able to explain here. Every week you’ll read here: “Hey, I’ve been interviewed 2 month ago, still nothing for me but few guys of my group already received the e-mail , what’s going on??” We already saw special cases here (a FTSO who waited 8months before one of his friends VIP in QR helped him out. a F/O who received a fail e-mail after 7 weeks of waiting). This communication has nothing to do with the spanair guys, it worked like that before. |

For me the explanation is clear and stated above. Even if you did the interview on the same day there are a bunch of issues that can put one at the top of the pile and another at the bottom. Issues like being TR, available, experience and Flight Time, performance at the simulator assessment, report given by the interviewers and of course theoretical test result. So if you go to the top of the pile your process will be quicker, if you don't... I think you already know the answer to that one!
Of course there are always files that are lost, and other situations dificult to understand but those are a small minority. And believe me that I know for own experience that it can take weeks to catch your joining coordinator on the phone or even by email. Nice landings |
I am one of the fortunate ones that had 4 - 6 weeks in between each step of the process! Joining in the first week of June and looking forward to a new advanture. I was interviewed in the first week of December for all that want to know. Fleet assignment is 320 but to change as per operational requirements.
The only questions I had, was can my family (wife and son) travel with me when I am joining QR. or do they have to wait a week or two?? We are planning to get them a visitors visa upon landing as they are part of the program. |
FTSO Housing Allowance
Can any FTSO who has joined recently please tell me what the housing allowance amount is? Is it QAR 10,000 just like for F.O or is it less? Thanks.
|
Recieved the "Good news" letter today for DEC position. Five weeks to the date of my interview. Yeah!

FTSO Housing Allowance
Tinga:
I think 6000 QR same as NTSO, that's what a friend told me , double check ! |
Samolin. Of course your family can travel with you. In the event that a residence visa cannot happen in time then they will have to arrive on a visitors visa.
Allowance for FTSO is QR6000. |
FTSO Housing Allowance
Global01 and TwoTone-7,
Thanks so much for your feedback. I appreciate it. One more question; Does the housing allowance increase from QAR 6000 to QAR 10000 as soon as you complete your 46 sectors and are promoted to F.O? |
FTSO to FO
For those who have joined as FTSO lately, can you please advise on how long it is taking, on average to complete the 46 sectors and get promoted to FO? Thanks so much in advance.

Housing allowance
TINGA:
Housing: Yes, The allowance increases from 6000 to 10000 as soon as you pass the line check. Sectors: A friend of mine has completed his 128 sectors of the NTSO in 6 months, so if you do the math, 46 sectors wont take long ..... You still have to double check ;) Good luck |
46 Sectors on the A320 in QR??? Hummmm....week and a half.
|
Does QR have a bidding system? If so, how does it work? Can you bid for certain places; to avoid certain places; for days off; certain departure times, etc? Any info is appreciated.

Sounds like one can do the 46 sectors in about 2 to 2 1/2 months. Anyone else who has gone through FTSO to FO wanna chime in on this? |
Qr new bond strategy for new joiners
Came across this in another forum, any truth to it???
·******** The new policy Specify 2 bonds one to cover Type Rating Phase ( 91,000 QAR equivalent to 25,000 USD for 30 months ) and the second one to cover the Line Training Phase (182,000 QAR equivalent to 50,000 USD for 60 months ) *. * ·******** The monthly salary deduction ( 3,034 QAR ) for the Type Rating Bond will start with the date of joining and for the next 30 months with zero refund. * ·******** The monthly salary deduction ( 3,034 QAR ) for the Line Training Bond will begin after the successful final line check and for the next 30 months with 50% refund after bond period completion ( 60 months ) . * |
Why not just keep it on there so its not duplicated across every other QR thread.

Timeframe FTSO - FO
Hi all,
I think the following timeframe should be considered from FTSO to FO. A few weeks of administration, ID, uniform, RP, courses, air law exam, ... Maybe another 2 months type-rating. Another 6 weeks for 46 sectors on the A320. That should be a total of about 4 - 4,5 months. This is if all goes according planning... Anyone who has the correct info, please correct me. Cheers, Daniel |
