How long ????

Once you've succeeded the assessment, how long you have to wait for the fleet allocation from QR ? I was 4 to 6 weeks....really ???

takeoff & approach briefing

any current QR or pilots that have passed the assesment that can PM me an example of both the departure and approach briefing.

Also just wondering if any of you might know if it could be possible to have the same day off every week? I dont care about where I fly to or how many hours I have to work, as long as I can have that day off?

To be perfectly honest with you, that request is 100%.. impossible. you will be able to request it and depending on your fleet, you might get it from time to time.. but every week.. absolutely not. Office staff and most management get Friday and Saturdays off (from office duties only) .. so if your looking for that, become a manager.. if not, you will have to compromise with the best of us.

In true Qatar Airways fashion i'll say.. You come here to work and thats what they expect you to do, nothing more nothing less. Your personal life is your problem not the airlines.
After a few years here you will come to realize how true that statement is.

Capt. Krunch, very valuable information indeed. I know it must be somewhere in this topic, but considering it's 180 pages I'm just going to ask; how many days off are you guaranteed to get in QR?

Offtopic: Might be an idea to set up a separate topic, clear of discussion, where we can dump all information required for the assessment and maybe try to answer the most obvious questions (like mine up there). If someone is trying to prepare for an assessment, reading 180 pages of which alot are not relevant can be quite impractical.

Offtopic guess: creating a new threat will never prevent wild-drunk-frustrated posters to jump with thier bull****z ... but also reading their bull****z and the answer you can get an idea of what to expect ... plus sometimes it's really funny!

Offtopic suggestion: being curious is probably a good way to approach an interview ... and 180 pages are just a very good guide line but don't stop your research here ... using the search function in combination with google translator you'll be surprise the amount of information you can get.

The dress code shall be national dress...
This clause is certainly interesting, in the US case.

The US geography and culture varies WIDELY. If I were to have to specify a "National Dress", I would say that an urban "hip hop" dress is the most standardized across the US, at least in the larger cities.

Therefore, I would say the US "National Dress" would be pants that are too long, and WAY too big, worn WAY below your waistline and held up with a large belt. Shirt would be a short sleeve t-shirt of some sort, with a lot of tatoos. Definitely an oversized "baseball" cap, with lots of bling on it, worn so that the bill is at some angle off the to the side. A good amount of blingy jewelry, along with probably some metal attached to your face, and large, "goofy" looking sneakers, unlaced of course.

To me, wearing this would be a legitimate US "National Dress". I don't think Qatar would approve....

Be ready for a test and interview. If many don't turn up and they have time, this is what they may do.

Bring your license and log book with you just in case

gdukkoq 2nd Dec 2011 06:22

I did the interview early sept. Got the good news one month later. And now waiting on contract and fleet allocation. It has been almost 3 months since the interview, is that standard waiting time? Or should I be worry. Anybody in the same situation?

National dress

To atpcliff:

They are talking about the qatari national dress!;)

clearedfortaxi 2nd Dec 2011 18:16

There is no assessment and definitely no interview. It says on the flyer that certain people got in the email. Everything like that will be done in Doha.

gdukkoq 3rd Dec 2011 02:45

With Qatar national day, which last a full week from dec 12th. I suspect more delay for those waiting... Arghhhhh 3 months waiting now and counting.

Axum 3rd Dec 2011 06:15

Have you ever been employed in an appointment / training capacity?

Could somebody translate this sentence to me pls?

mtr 3rd Dec 2011 06:42

Five weeks have passed and still waiting for the interview results!!!:ugh:

gdukkoq 3rd Dec 2011 08:19

MTR welcome to the club, you will get the good news, but wait is not over... But you don't get something good without a little struggle in life.

Unless someone who attended the interview recently has had a different experience, this link should help you out. (posted under Av8tordude)

flightman1 & changingbases...

Unless QR has changed there interview process, its unlikely they will be doing any direct assessment. When I attended a QR presentation, its was just a company presentation and an opportunity to ask questions. They will ask if you completed an online application and take your contact information. I would recommend anyone considering working for QR should attend so you can have ALL your questions answered. Its VERY informative! Before anyone ask about attire...I would say, First impression is always a lasting impression :ok:. My friend told me the HR lady at the road show was the same person that interviewed him during his interview.

4wks past; still patiently waiting...

Tugnut 3rd Dec 2011 16:55

Same thing happened to me. The guy on the road show was the same guy who interviewed me in Doha.

Got told I had a job after 5 weeks at the same time I was sent an official offer of employment letter which had to be signed and sent back. I was also given a fleet at that stage as well. Then I was told it takes 3 weeks for my visa after which I would be given a start date. I guess each candidate is different.
