I realy do feel very sorry for the crew who do a fantastic job day in day out .However they need to address the poor union representation asap.

It's all about ego trips for some involved in the union and the crew are stuck in the middle and SADLY don't appear to have a voice .You are the membership make your voice heard.

Hi Flyer

Are you really getting that feeling from your colleagues? So much of what we're hearing is for continued militancy. I do hope you're right - for everyone's sake.

The Madness continues!

Dear

British Airways Cabin Crew Industrial Action

We write to inform you that, pursuant to the trade dispute between us, Unite
intends to ballot its cabin crew members employed by you, on whether they
wish to take industrial action.

This ballot will be conducted early in the New Year.

To assist us in complying with our statutory obligations, and in providing you
with the most accurate information possible concerning the ballot, kindly
confirm the names, leaving dates and employee number, of those employees
who will be leaving the company's employment between now and the end of
April.

We further request that you provide such information as you possess in regard to
those either leaving your employment or transferring between NSP
constituencies on an ongoing monthly basis hereafter.

We look forward to hearing from you as a matter of urgency.

Yours sincerely,

HiFlyer14 - Im really confused!!!!

HiFlyer14 - Im really confused

How did you work out this figure as only 1000 people have left - are you trying to say the Union Subs are £60 per month ?????

And if any are still confused - just remember this:

One crew member off an airplane = a LOSS of 60,000 pounds per month in Union subs to UNITE.

A Lurjer

Welcome back. Has your stance been altered at all by the adverse publicity accorded to you by every media outlet (except BASSA and CF forums) ??

Weathermap - do you have any advice as to how we can make our voices heard above the machine that is BASSA? For all their faults, the one thing they can do, bizarrely, is wind up the crew - how do we compete?

Papillion - I genuinely do get that feeling from my crew colleagues but then I do speak openly about how and why I think the Union have let us down, about the fact that I voted no, and that I would and always will cross the picket line. Are they just appeasing me? I don't think so otherwise they would just say nothing. Most seem quite relieved to actually be able to talk about the Union in an alternative way! Perhaps others are just toeing the line (note spelling Desertia lol) and don't feel the environment is safe to express the alternative view?

You cannot underestimate how scared crew feel about saying anything against this bullying, intimidating force that call themselves a Union.

A.Lurker, welcome back.

Have you been busy congratulating Lizanne and the reps on a job well done?

Perhaps the maths would make more sense if you consider that with the reduced numbers on board, it is not just the VR people going, it's also the new part-timers as well, say, 2000 less MPE overall, (a bit like that HR1 mentioned that is still in force)

How much are Bassa subs? About £30 a month? I've no idea.

Having seen what you get the the money, I think about 30p a month is about right.

HiFlyer14

Have you ever stopped to think that they all just TELL you what you want to hear because they see you and your view as intimidatory and just want to toe your line?

You see people have their own views and whilst you have stoically stuck to your guns - just because people have a contrary view to yours you cannot ram it down their throats. If I was a Crew Member I wouldn't dare do anything but agree with you as I would be scared that you would report me to the management

A Lurker

Exceptional.

Proof, if ever needed that you really do live in a bubble.
If my profession was being slated in the (inter)national TV news, radio and papers (tabloids and broadsheets alike), unamonously decreeing the honour, professionalism and integrity of my entire collective, i'm pretty sure i'd realise there was something seriously wrong with what was going on around me.
Totally baffled Lurker. How can you not be affected by the media ? I just don't undertsnad how you can not take any notice of that ? Let alone what the majority of passengers must be thinking of you right now.

Regarding Miss Malone

A little bird told me today that Miss Malone will probably have a couple of sleepless nights - or weeks - ahead of herself as certain things are going on behind closed doors.

Stay tuned.

In todays paper:
"BA's selfish staff are symbolic of a country that's falling apart"

"Engulfed by their own propaganda, wallowing in grievance and entitlement, BA's eager strikers are not fighting for a noble cause. They are masquerading as victims in order to pursue self-interest, while dressing it up as virtue".

"Amid such disharmony, it is awe-inspiring to observe one of the few remaining institutions that helps sustain us as a united kingdom: the armed forces. Their committment and stoicism in the face of terrible adversity give us a reason for pride in what we are. Yet, even as the coffins arrive home draped in union flags, ministers plot to cut the defence budget".

SLF Have a vote as well

If the CC Lemmings vote yes again then we as customers should vote with a resounding NO and go elsewhere.

They will deserve everything they get and see what real life is like when you really have to work for a living.

BA CC are NOT as good and irreplaceable as they think they are and the sooner they wake up and smell the coffee the better.

Apologies to the few but your voice is lost on the rest of the idiots.

So just because of the media propaganda that was (actually exceptionally) manipulated by BA - I should just say "ah go on then - lets forget it - go on WW take all of my terms, conditions and my contract and do with it what you will!"

Nothing has changed my friend - it is a temporary reprieve - until we reach an agreeable outcome - we shall continue to defend our rights and we carry on.

Oh and if anything the resolve of the CC has intensified. Walsh attempted and achieved public humiliation of 13,000 members of his staff and has now alienated the largest sector of his workforce for ever.

Thats great 'leadership and management' isn't it?

When the court judgment is released, it should be published on the site below (just search for "British Airways" and select the sort order by date):

British and Irish Legal Information Institute

Oh really?
Could you provide reference for this, as CC's seeming alienation from their union (or vice versa) affords little option other than to get on with the job in hand, as directed by the company, albeit with slightly tougher conditions and remuneration.
Pretty much like everyone else in the UK!

I think he will alienate an even bigger number of his workforce if he gives into you and they end up with no job.
