Perhaps the maths would make more sense if you consider that with the reduced numbers on board, it is not just the VR people going, it's also the new part-timers as well, say, 2000 less MPE overall, (a bit like that HR1 mentioned that is still in force)
How much are Bassa subs? About £30 a month? I've no idea.
Having seen what you get the the money, I think about 30p a month is about right.
