The Open Day usually takes place on a Saturday. This is really just a chance for you to make a good first impression. You have two minutes to how them what you've got. If they like what they see, you'll be invited back for the real selection day. This is usually held the following day, involving group excercises and psych tests. If you make it through day 2, then it is time for your final interview, which could be the same day, but is usually on the Monday or the Tuesday, or maybe even later depending on the recruitment teams schedules. Read through all these 63 pages, there is heaps of useful info from wannabe's and current crew.

If you intend to commute for an interview, ensure you have a changeable ticket, and there are no cancellation penalties if you check out from your hotel early. That way you can head home straight away if you are unsucessfull. There is nothing worse than being stuck in a city by yourself, feeling depressed, and not being able to leave for a whole week.

EK recruits all over the world. Your profile says you are from Japan, and I am pretty sure they recruit from KIX, which would be a lot closer than SYD.

A really good way to make the commute worthwile is combine it with a holiday.

I have commuted twice. Once to BNE, and once to AKL. Costing me heaps of $$, without any luck. But I don't regret it.

Wink Thank you for your reply soon

Thank you so much for your info and advice! Yes, we are going to have a interview coming in Japan as well but it is really big competition here in Japan like 3000 people will apply for this position and only 300 people will be able to even go to the first interview with agency before meeting with Emirates recruite teem. #:-S I grew up in Sydney and went to school and worked in there so i would like to take a opportunity to have a interview with them in Sydney rather than here in my coutry. I am wishing you guys all the best and hope to see you all in the open day!! Blue

interview

hiya, i applied for the london interview and got a reply with my interview date about 10 days later, but i think you get a reply if you are unsuccessful anyway so it might just be that they are taking a while to arrange dates for everyone, good luck!

They seem to put a lot of importance on the full length photo and head shot, I'm handsome, 6ft 2ins and I do look Arabic (South American mum)
with short black hair and also I don't act camp (rather than gay, though I'm not gay either) but if they are more interested in how you look than actual experience of being cabin crew then I'm in!
WOW! I am sorry I cannot answer your questions and cannot offer any advice on this, but could I offer you a date?!?

I don't know if it will be a problem, but I know you definately cannot delete them yourseslf. You can try sending them an email asking them to delete them, but I doubt you will get a reply.

Help!

Hello, everybody. I am new here. I am a Chinese girl in London. I was invited to attend an interview on 4th May. I am very nervous, cause I really wanna get this job. Can anybody share some discussion topics here? And will the interviewer ask any question before the group discussion? Are there many Asians in foreign countries for the interview? Cheers!

Would it be wise to call them? I applied a short while ago and nothing yet and I would like to attend a recruitment day in a city abroad...

Hi everyone... I'm new to this forum but was just wondering if anyone out there can reassure me... I had a final interview for emirates a month ago but have heard nothing from them since. I know two girls who had interviews on the same day as me (but had a different interviewer), and heard back nearly two weeks ago! I didn't feel my interview went well at all, so I can't help but think I probably didn't get the job. But I have read posts from people on this forum saying they were in a similar situation, and if you haven't heard it means you've still got a chance.

My question is, do Emirates definitely contact you if you haven't been successful? I am finding it difficult to remain positive about this when I think they might have just chucked my file in the bin and not let me know! Or should I be thinking that no news is good news and that they haven't contacted me means I'm still in the running?

Also, even though they say you should wait up to six weeks before calling them, is it okay to call them sooner? I'm holding out for the job at Emirates and so I am unemployed and homeless (well, living at my parents' which is not exactly my cup of tea) and it's pretty tricky to make plans when I still have no idea whether I'm going to get a job with Emirates...

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Clogs, don't despair yet. I'd hazard a guess that some part of your paperwork is sitting in a pile on someone's desk waiting to be processed, or they are clarifying/waiting on more info from another department... we've all heard what it's like in the Middle East

If you're through to finals I'm sure they'll let you know either way!! Keep busy and they will call you when you're not expecting it!!

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the information. I passed all the test today, and forwarded to the final interview, which will be on 16th. Nervous, obviously. And advice for the final interview?

Thanks for the moral support skysista... you were right, they contacted me when I didn't expect it.. right after i left that post actually! And I was right... I didn't get the job. Their email was, as has been said on this forum before, unbelievably impersonal. But anyway... I guess there's always next year...

echo_sy... obviously my advice probably isn't worth much considering I didn't get through, but I can tell you how I think I screwed up, which might help. The interview is quite long, and they ask you a lot of questions about previous customer service experience and how you dealt with a certain situation, for example, an angry customer... or how you have reacted to criticism from a boss. They have a long list of questions that they pick from, so the ones they gave me, you won't necessarily get. It might be worth running a search on the net to find sample questions, and I thoroughly recommend you prepare a scenario for each of them and practise saying your answers. I didn't, and although I'd prepared a scenario for each, I explained them badly and therefore didn't sell myself well. In addition, I gave a really stupid answer to one of their questions because I hadn't prepared for that particular one, so if you get caught out, stop and think your answer through before giving it (that's probably obvious but I just said the first thing that came into my head - sadly, the wrong thing!). Good luck!

Hi, Clogs,
Thank you for your advice. I am really sorry to hear about it. Hope you will get it through quickly. I will do the preparations for those tough questions. By the way, will they ask any question about the company, like their products or something like that? Thank you!

I don't think they will ask you any questions on their company or products. They didn't ask me, anyway. It might not be a bad idea to browse through their website though, so you have a good idea of what they offer and the company structure. That should also give you some idea of what questions to ask the recruiter at the end of the interview, and ensure that you look like you've done your research. Once again, good luck!
