I need a bit of advice!
I want to attend an interview (not an open day but a global assessment day which is by appointment) but have no idea how to apply to one of those. If I go to their career portal and choose the city and destination where I wish to attend the day, it says I should register. But, that leads me to their original online application form where I have to state my country etc... how would they know I still want to attend that global assessment day in the chosen destination?

Kirstie, just fill it out for the city you want to go to, they should email you later with the details for that city.... evenetually for the last perth ones that's what i got.. an email saying i had registered etc for perth (was for an Open Day though but it should be the same for anything else.) If not you could just cancel it if it's not in the right place...

Emirates Cabin Crew.
Hi,
I will be joining emirates cabin crew soon. I get a very negative picture from this forum about emirates.
I will be going to Dubai from a developing country and it only makes sense if I can save and take some money back home. Everyone says that the cost of living in Dubai is very high and the rosy picture of emirates is quite misleading.
Reading about the allowances emirates provides is quite frightening too..
I have to make a decision...Please help..

SkySista: I tried to submit a new application but since I already had an application on file, I used that reference number and applied for a global assessment day instead. But, no reply that the application has been received?

i worked out the usd exchange rate that they state for allowances and i think you come out with around 800/900 sterling, in the uk this is v poor and gives you 0 chance at saving anythin when the cost of life (not living as residence is subsidised) is so high out there, i am told that the environment gives very little chance at having a really good laugh and is very re4strictive with regards to personality. it isn't a bad life but it is certainly not suitable for everyone. i know this sounds silly but only you can decide!
good luck

you will start on around 1000 uk pounds per month, with no rent or bills to pay including free transport. not bad if you ask me, plus good allowances in hotels (50-65 pounds per night in uk). it used to be more but the exchange rate has made it a bit less. the cost of food etc. is still better than the uk.
indian crew love it as they earn many times what they would in india and as dubai has some very poor as well as very rich people all of these are catered for, in terms of food, restaurants etc. if i was from a developing country i'd be snapping emirates hand off for a job, many crew tell me of their lovely big houses they have bought back home thanks to their jobs with ek, lucky them!
i say go for it, you can always leave, plus you have beaten off the other 13000 applicants they receive every month.

Go for it, it will be a good experience for you. You can always come back if you don't like it, at least you tried. Dubai is rather cosmopolitan, it's the USA of middle east and not as closed up as you think. However, you do have to cope with the ocassional spell of depression and mood swing for being away from home, especially in the beginning. It's worth the try.

hi everyone!
Its great to see this forum is still ongoing! Been ages since I was last on this site!
Guys, I have been crew now for nearly 9 months! Time is flying by but I still love every minute of it. Yes there are a few downfalls with the company - as there is with any - but you will never know if you like it in Dubai and Emirates unless you give it a go! It is a different experience for everyone - so don't be put of by any negative comments. We are all entitled to our own opinions.
The money is great (I've paid off nearly $10000 on credit cards in 6 months plus got new tattoo, gone skydiving, gone on numerous holidays to see friends and family, as well as buying all the extras i.e. laptop, digital camera, stuff for the house). The trips are great (and getting better as time passes - like 4 days seychelles and I still love the job as much as I did when I first started. I am doing things and going places I would have only dreamt of!
Good luck to everyone that is having a go!

My fellow ppruners,
i was hoping if someone who has recently been involved in a final interview and has kept all the paperwork that comes with it (final interview pack!!) can pm me the number that is on the bottom of one of the pages where it says, "if you havent heard a response in 6 weeks, please call this number" i tried the switchboard, but they is nigh on useless. and i cant find any of my bits of paper with the number on it.
Thanks a whole bunch and them some!

Emirates Careers
Hello to one and all,
I have read all 64 pages with great interest. I have decided that
when I leave university next year that I'm going to apply to become
cabin crew for Emirates.
Living in the UK is now doing my head in. As well as the ever
increasing 'yob culture' and the weather and the quarter of a million
pounds I will never have to buy some crappy little house where I will
end up hating all my neighbours. I thought that it would be a good idea
to throw my hand in and live in sunny Dubai.
I have read that there is an unofficial age limit to cabin crew? is
this still in force? as a lot of relevant posts on here were of 2003 and seeing as Emirates air is increasing its fleet, I don't know if they are more lax about age requirements. I'm 35 when I graduate but I look (yes I really do) look 24-25. Everyone stands back in amazment when I say I'm 34
so are they more concerned about your age or more if you look your age?
They seem to put a lot of importance on the full length photo and head shot, I'm handsome, 6ft 2ins and I do look Arabic (South American mum)
with short black hair and also I don't act camp (rather than gay, though I'm not gay either) but if they are more interested in how you look than actual experience of being cabin crew then I'm in! not fair I know, but that is life I'm afraid.
If anyone can give me any updated recruitment procudures then I'm forever in their debt! thanks in advance.
PS: Had a look at the website again, there seems to be a lot of work for ground crew and sales, can you apply for two posts at the same time? does age limits apply to these positions? does it take as long to get emplyment than if you apply for cabin crew? again if anyone has any good info then cheers in advance!

Emirates airline open day in Sydney
Hello everyone, i am planing to go to Sydney on this May or June to go to Emirates airline open day!! And i would like to know more details about their recruitment.
According to their website, it says that If you are successful at the open day you will be required to attend a ''further selection day'' during the course of ''the week''.
And i am trying to fly there only for taking their interview. This is why i have to book my hotel and stay there til the final interview. I would be really appreciated if anyone knows and would tell me how long nomally it takes to complete all of their interview process, and also what sort of interviews or games they tend to do in there! Look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Also thanking you for your time. Big hugs for all,xx Blue
