there might be something wrong with the post numbering.
For me too the the post with the lady jumping out the Md had the number 4764.
I have noted before a difference in numbering when somebody refers to posts.

Perhaps Senior Pilot can check this out?

G'Day VF!

I'm not certain whether or not you've covered my question earlier in this most excellent thread, but I wonder if your Aussie physiognomy, originally unused to extreme altitude, had a period of adjustment as you began initial operations in the "roof of the World"? Did you encounter episodes of hypoxia, acute mountain sickness (AMS), high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE), or high altitude cerebral edema (HACE)? How long did it take you to acclimatize? Do any of your tourist clientele from sea level locales experience medical difficulties? Do you and your passengers use supplemental oxygen? I know that when I visited Denver, Colorado (a great town BTW!), a lowly 5,200' MSL, I had epistaxis (bloody nose) and dyspnea (trouble breathing). I am certain that my pack-a-day cowboy killer (Marlboro red) habit didn't help. That you are a yoga practitioner probably helped you. As a side note, I am given to believe that Nepalese Sherpas are genetically gifted with larger lung capacity and higher hematocrit (O2-carrying red blood cell volume) than we mere mortals...

Downward Dog and Upward Collective, Steve! :ok:

Good on you and those you love! :)

G'day albatross.....Yip know the stuff, we use RainX, even perspex polish or car polish works pretty good too! This wasn't my bird, was only a training flight. If I was gonna do more in that ship, I'd surely be applying that magic goop :ok:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hoy there wcavuman1.....Been lucky I've never experienced any altitude issues, even when I'd run out of O2, or when stuck up there due weather :ooh: seen plenty a folks sick, seriously sick & die from AMS, HAPE & HACE. :uhoh: I think Yoga, Pranayama (breathing exercises) Plant Based Whole Foods Vegan diet has helped me a lot :ok:

I don't believe Sherpa's have any unique high-altitude genes. If You were born at 10,000'+ worked hard everyday at those heights & much higher then, You too would be a super athlete at those same altitudes. There's no doubt anyone can achieve similar if they spent their entire life up there! :D Yes Sherpa's are super powerful, amazingly fit & resilient, but only those that go outdoors & do that seriously high-altitude toiling. I know plenty Sherpa's who work inside offices that are unfit & unhealthy like their Western counterparts :} They are great people & very hard working :cool:

High-Altitude survival tips: Stay away from Dairy (clogs the Lungs & Lymphatic system), consuming lots of Timmur (Szechuan pepper) helps build more red blood corpuscles which carries O2 & good old Garlic keeps the blood thin, don't smoke! :)

Roger that gulliBell :}

As mighty fine viewin' them mountin's are, some of those mountin' women are mighty finer viewin' still. Almost fine enough for me to contemplate taking a flight at those ridiculous nose bleeding hypoxical altitudes to find me some of that fine viewin'.

Just curious if you have a methanol or nitro injection system etc in your ride to give it a bit of momentary extra oomph at camp 6 etc.

..

My altitude record is an embarrassing 12 grand, in a 2-bladed Bell with 3 engines. I imagine that would be a subterranean coal mine altitude in your neck of the woods! I think I'd need to be kept well away from any flight controls, with the IFR covers on the windscreens, and wearing foggles. I'd need to rely on the other senses for sensing any mountin' women in proximity.

That would be a 212 with a spare underslung?

I got a Huey to 17,000 in PNG but its envelope was 20kt min to 40kt max, certainly no attempt at landing on Mt Wilhelm.

Close enough, here ye be awarded a cigar. 'Twas indeed a 212, with a spare in the back. And half frozen me up front with no map. I did start out with a map but it blew out the window. Anyway, couldn't see much of the ground to make use of a map, and the top-of-climb checklist has me closing my eyes until ready for descent.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grand day to You nbl & fleigle.......Thanks Gents, hmmm I was booted form the Rotorheads Around the World (incl 'Views from the Cockpit') thread for too many posts & this one was launched for me to post on. Which I've been doing for a 7years now. I'd assumed I could post about bikes, yoga, cars, girls, family, selfies, boats, broken bones, food, dogs, scenery & even helicopters. Sadly however this thread is being more & more aggressively vetted & hijacked to someones personal ideals. Nothing to do with PC, nudity nor porn, nothing in the PPRUNE rules state what topics or pictures can be posted, adverts excluded? Even other contributors posts are being systematically removed without reasons or any justification being given. Last few days over a dozen posts of others & mine where deleted? Again no reasons given, BOOM just gone! So it seems pointless to continue. Might as well delete the lot to appease the wrath of some admin up there in God's chair :mad:

It's been fun & I've truly appreciated the comments & the following. It's been an amazingly wonderful experience to express myself here, but with the aggressive indiscriminate removal of other members posts & mine for zero reason or justification feels like a prison is upon us here, trying to control everything we think, say, do or post, manipulating our every actions..no thank You. Rather spend time doing other things than have my posts covertly removed for 'their' amusement? :{

VF keep posting but maybe we should check if it's a technical problem that pulls the posts. However, if not then PPRUNE has lost the plot. Let's face it, helicopters can be a bit boring. What makes this thread such fun is the variety and your personality which shines through your electric postings.

If PP Towers is trying to destroy this thread then they are just plain stupid. Advertising sales come from people visiting PPRUNE. Your thread helps enormously to bring in the punters.

Come PP management. Show some intelligence and support. You have no idea the frustration and negative impact arbitrary post deletions cause.

VF don't give up yet. Your thread is the ONLY reason I visit PP everyday.

I am outraged! This thread is full of pictures of dangerous things::eek:

How can the mods possibly allow pictures of:

Food that is burnt - this is known to be carcinogenic?
Animals - they could bite?
Mountains - very dangerous places?
Flying in marginal weather - utterly irresponsible, it might encourage any low-hour PPL to attempt that?
Parking helicopters on the edge of high cliffs - what if they fall off?
Motorbikes - very dangerous machines, they kill 10,000s every year?
Puppies - they come with their own set of problems and could even smother you?

Some of the food looked as though it might even have been pulled straight from the ground instead of being wrapped and hermetically sealed in polythene wrap like the big supermarkets do - how could you possibly know it wasn't past its best before date? You damned risk taker! How dare you entice others to follow your crazy, foolhardy ways?

VF, please would you confine yourself to showing only safe pictures, maybe sub 1,000' altitude with sufficient density altitude to give decent safety margins, nothing less than full VMC, no dangerous mountains, no ghastly motorbikes, no puppies and no birds - they could cause rotor strikes!

All food should be consumed before the stamped use-by date and packaging should be carefully checked for damage before unwrapping. Any burnt bits should be discarded and put in your plastic recycling bin as required by the council.:ok:

Oh, and when you park your chopper, please put the tail over the ground, NOT hanging out over the cliff - what if it needs maintenance, you'd never be able to reach it - you hadn't thought of THAT, had you? Just sayin!;)

Make up your mind, sweety pie. And maybe get your facts straight? Savoia wasn't sacked, run off nor banned, he left of his own accord after being held responsible for outing another member who cancelled his account over the outing for which Savoia got a paltry week off.

It's a shame the same nonsense is going on here because a moderator or two have done their unpaid job and deleted a couple of posts. So what? Other forums here have far, far more severe moderating and seem to survive without the 'poor me' wailing going on here.

I thought it was an April Fools day joke to start with, but I'm guessing you're serious! (and you talked about deleting thread on 2nd April, not the 1st)

This thread is one of the main reasons I read PPRune these days. Keep it going VF!

I do hope you’ll stay VF. For me, this has been the most enjoyable thread on prune for some considerable time and is the only reason I visit this site (and then look at some other threads, most of which turn out to be the usual infighting between the usual perpetrators). Whilst not every post on the thread is interesting, the vast majority are thoroughly enjoyable and I have never found a single one offensive or unacceptable. Keep up the good work VF

The only Thread I follow over years!
Great insights not only into flying in a demanding area but also into the 360 degrees around, from people to animals!
Keep on and donˋt let anybody hassel you! !

..Can I get some company whilst hanging out in the deco-chamber :}

The deco-chamber dancing gals charge by the 0.6 hour, Nepalese rupee not accepted. And their Hobbs meter always runs fast. Sorry, not in the budget I'm afraid. You'll just have to stick with the tall green bottles for company, preferably fizzy and cold, but not as fizzy as the CO3 you snort, or as cold as Makalu camp 6.

VH would hate to see your thread stop , one of the only reasons I log onto PPRuNE these days is to check your site and see what new pictures you have posted.

YES, I really enjoy the pictures from such a remote country and challenging flying environment
hard to imagine a pilot and a machine operating daily in extreme condition, altough , I am sure, must be beautiful on sunny days.

Hi VF, I hope you will change your mind and keep your thread going. It's one of the best I know- mountains, helis, people, places, humour, food and tractors. It's great to see what you're seeing, doing and flying in a remote, beautiful country. It's an amazing slice of life and great to see, all while giving us an idea what you do for a livin' :ok:
