Great pictures VF. I enjoy seeing them. The ones from Manaslu are astounding. I am always amazed by the versatility of Helicopters, and how they are used in remote places- and how high you can fly them. I'm guessing you would need to use Oxygen at that height.
You have one of the best offices in the world - and some tough jobs at times. I hope all was well after the Manaslu job.

That looks a pretty tight, obstructed fixed-wing final into Simikot for the Twotters and Dorniers. Is it as bad as it looks or is it really foreshortened by the camera?

No petrol for taxi's, private cars nor bikes, now only for Buss's & essential services??? :yuk: NOTAM to all international carriers ZERO fuel for sale at VNKT :eek: Domestic carriers are getting fuel from Bangladesh via Royal Nepal Airways 757 :mad:

Hey David, the local ID is on the reverse side, I did get ramp checked that day :ooh: passed though :cool: @ VNST there is a separate parking ramp for Rotor-craft, as for cramping the Stiff-wingers that's an optical delusion, they all think their much bigger than reality :p

I noticed number of your landing spots seem to be setup at the end of a very smooth light grade up slope (as in above).

Is it something that helps you at high altitude to transition out of ETL and IGE smoothly.

Thank you for yet more wonderful pics showing what you do and where you get to fly for a living. It is a spectacular country and very beautiful.

It made me wonder if you have a favourite season as there is so much variety between summer/winter and between monsoon/dry. No two days are ever the same in aviation, but I'd take cold and dry to wet and warm any day but cold and wet (icing) cannot be any fun.

G'day Agile - the upslope is just an illusion, just like my on-time breaky :uhoh: Yes= good judgement, tons of practice & the Geni off :ooh: as for tips: keep it upright, never loose visual, never loose ETL unless Your in ground effect (or slinging/filming/aerial work etc) pick-up pole to the 2o'clock to go for more collective power rather than wasted on pedals to keep straight :confused:

Hoy sycamore - being light gives more options & more safety, at these eXtreme altitudes landing with 30-40 litres is still 20mins (errrr almost) :oh:

Ipad Mini plus Garmin Glo plus good software and you won't have that problem.
The Glo works on the US GPS- and the russian Glonass system.
The whole thing updates the position every 1/10 second and with 5 meters accuracy.
I'm more than happy with the setup.

G'day spencer17.....we often loose total GPS satellite coverage in the deep gorges, not sure if the Glasnoss would cover that problem :( our problem was a simple wire had come off the antennae :eek: :p ;)

Hey Spencer, if safety is an obsession, then OK, I'm guilty as charged :O I've seen the results of 2 Blessed Souls walk into a Tail Rotor :{ the results are sickening :yuk: I for one will make my mission & landings as safe as possible to protect me, my machine, my PAX as well as the onlookers........A piss poor sloppy attitude to Airmanship safety is why people die when a Pilot doesn't take responsibility for the safest way....:ugh: it takes no extra effort to safely hang Your Tail Rotor over a ledge (when there is one) to prevent a stumbling Human; bumbling into the TR....? :*

another sad example of landing at Namche Bazaar with the Tail-Rotor creating a danger to People on the ground :eek: simply landing 2-3metres back would have eliminated all that potential danger:confused:

Hej VF , some days I trust I fly like an old fart - or just like flying in one of them? Other days, or hours or minutes, I feel I am a complete beginner, not a trainee at all. ( especially in the mountains )
