It is actually rather encouraging to read that Ryanair's new chief marketing officer cites Manchester as being his favourite city in the world and commutes to his Dublin office from here. He speaks highly of the area's tourism potential. It can't do any harm to have positive awareness of Manchester and its passenger appeal well represented in the higher echelons of Ryanair.
He is well trained in marketing, he was hardly going it say it wasn't his favourite city was he!

Confirmation of NYC & Miami flights for TCX:

Thomas Cook Airlines will operate a three times a week service to New York from Manchester airport from next May.

The airline will also start flying to Miami from Manchester twice weekly and said the new Miami route would cater for the family market.

The new routes will see the introduction of a new ‘premium service’ across the entire airline’s long-haul routes. Customers will be able to reserve seats in advance and will have priority check-in.

The premium offering will include a dedicated cabin team with a new on-demand touch screen in-flight entertainment system being introduced.

Thomas Cook has also launched seven Summer 2015 brochures including Thomas Cook Signature and Airtours Holidays which will be on sale from May 1.

Two preview and five full brochures for 2015 have been release to encourage early bookings.

The brochures include two additions to Thomas Cook’s Sentido, Smartline and Sunprime offerings.

Uli Sperl, product and yield director at Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, said: “Thomas Cook remains an iconic brand for UK holidaymakers of all ages, and our 2015 product range caters for their ever-evolving needs and expectations.”

As the handling agents are tooling up for the busy summer season, i take it the added hands need something to do train up on for a few weeks.

Strange morning down here in Pinner 6 miles north blue sky with haze and visibility about 4 miles at ground level.

Whilst Manchester has/is taking those, Heathrow received this mornings Air China summer student shuttle from Gatwick!

Manchester - Jeddah

Just seen lots of adverts go up around Manchester for the Saudia flights to Jeddah. I know this has been discussed recently (in terms of being good for MAN long haul profile), but is there that much demand to Saudi Arabia from MAN, or is it mainly transfer tickets in competition with the Gulf states?

Good to see Twitter is FINALLY being used to push new services, with a positive tsunami of tweets, the last few days re Jet2. Monarch !

bit of a revelation as it all seems "inline"

BUT lets not be complacent, Eitihad currently offering free connections from Exeter thru Manchester, all over the EXT website, must be worth pushing from up here.

quote; MAG Flight information boards are ahead of the game ? (...some may use the term ahead of the game others may disagree).

oh while I am at it, Jeddah is still not on the map of destinations served !

If anybody from marketing are watching can they update ta !

Think "Continuity" !

I imagine Etihad will be keen to get as many connecting pax as possible when the B777s come on the MAN route with all those extra seats to fill. The early flybe domestic wave arrives about 08.00 so there's a decent connecting time for EY, and indeed EK departures.

And at least it's only T3 to T1 for transfers. Have transfer facilities been enhanced, or are there plans to do so, with the new emphasis on connectivity, which will apply to TCX flights as well if the link with flybe develops?

I've heard rumours of a planned transfer facility between T1 and T3 (why not just knock the wall down and join them?), but I think that was dependent on the old control tower building being taken down first so that might be quite a while.

I mean how can an airport which handles 20+ million passengers a year allow this to happen and make the excuse they did.

92% processed within 8 minutes sounds pretty good to me on a bank holiday weekend, I bet the delays on the motorway and rail network were much longer than that.

If as stated all the lanes were open, I don't know what else the airport is supposed to do. They are hardly going to invest in building and manning another dozen security lanes just to cater for the three weekends a year when everyone decides they want to go on holiday at the same time.
