The Air Contrators ATR is also Cargo only though isn't it?

It does seem strange, even with a higher frequency B77W the hold cargo capacity must be much less than dedicated 747 and 748s. Also this comes at a time when they're building this new cargo center.

B777 has an amazing cargo uplift and putting cargo under cabin can make a pax flight with very few pax profitable as in Saudi, Singapore, Emirates,Etihad and now Cathay from December so the pax are a bonus

Cool

The 748 was and is primarily for the North American route, long sectors better economy. The dedicated cargo market for Europe is not profitable, 10 flts to Europe a week at present, I believe CDG is stopping as well.

I understand there will be ad hoc freighters as and when required, no schedule as such.

Wasn't that long a go there were 14 a week into MAN from HKG, KA and CX, can't sustain 3 a week now.

MAN pilot base is also closing.

Any idea why the BA2 BabyBus diverted into MAN this morning before continuing to LCY? Fuel/weather?

Looking at the cargo availability, I wonder if CX are pulling all UK cargo ops, can only get the B777's at LHR too with no cargo flights showing there from June.
I understand CX will continue freighter ops at LHR (twice weekly). The slots they use there will be worth a bit.

Now confirmed that ZRH will start 29th March 2015 daily 4 class B77W.

Will have to try and dig out the article but one commenting on the Zurich launch also commented on Manchester starting this year, and stated CX intend MAN to be 'at least once a day before the end of 2015'.

Thumbs up CX

Noticed a few advertisements in the papers today for the new Man to Hong Kong route!

I think they will look really well, hope they do go daily!

Does anyone reckon they'll self handle like last time they were here?

Anyone know if they routes are selling?

Ty

CX

Travelbag, and no doubt others, are already using CX as their first choice on flights/holidays to and from Hong Kong rather than Emirates as before

A few carriers at MAN self handle above the wing. AA for example.

True! It can be confusing though, Menzies have staff in BA uniforms and Swissport likewise for Virgin, although they're not in house anymore (sadly).
Do Jet2 self handle above wing at MAN?

True. The lines are very blurred these days. Jet 2 are self handled above with WFS below.

CX have engineering and cargo, been there about 25 years or so I believe, cleaning/catering/ticket desk/pushback etc etc is done by agents, currently out to tender. Check-in/ticketing will probably have a couple of managers on duty and a couple of supervisors the rest to whomever gets the contract.

Well done Manchester!
I would tend to agree - although arriving late in the evening might change people's perceptions.

Overall, this is one the areas that is most improved in the MAN experience in recent times.
