That's the volume of international passengers surely, in terms of hub connectivity, CDG, FRA and AMS beat LHR in terms of available destinations, as do several more European airports, I think. Which is why I agree with you in that we need a joined up transport policy to allow LHR a third runway and MAN to be able to offer long haul flights without bilateral restrictions favouring London.

I agree with you bagso. Steady there.

Since we don't have a national carrier and no doubt the ultimate ownership of most airlines is spread impenetrably around the world through pension funds etc, could someone explain why it isn't in the national interest to do as Mr Stringer suggests and declare open skies north of London. Does it really make any difference what colour plane they fly in?

Surprise surprise.....
T3 is nothing short of a joke - I avoid all airlines that fly through it where ever possible. I'm just not prepared to take the risks involved.

As noted in the Thomas Cook thread, Miami and New York have appeared as destinations from Manchester (apparently so has Boston although I cant see it on my computer).

Interestingly they are clustered in with MAN destinations and not seperately with the Condor codeshares.

Could be interesting....

Have just looked at TCX and very interesting to see them destinations mixed in with MAN routes. Can't see Boston though as you say.

Other short haul new routes include:

Agadir (mentioned a while back and starts this winter)
Sal, Cape Verde (also mentioned a while back and starts this winter)

The 2 below have no schedule yet but you never know!

Seville
Verona

Hopefully TCX may finally be going ahead with the Manchester long haul HUB idea that has been rumoured for over a year now since the announcement from them.

Also Thomson release their Summer 2015 schedule today (24th April). Will be interesting to see if any expansion at MAN. One new destination already confirmed is Split with 2 weekly flights

The Thomas Cook website that the public see also shows numerous other cities on the MAN dropdown ;

Lagos, Joburg, Los Angeles etc

...OR am I missing something (probably) ?

Do we have the actual link ?

Bagso,

Depends on what part of the site you are looking at.

If its TCX holidays, it will be packages sold via 3rd party airlines such as Emirates etc.

If its TCX flights, then the list down to Zante are direct MAN flights, then Anchorage onwards are Condor via FRA.

This is why it is odd that JFK/MIA are in the 'MAN section'.

Hope that helps

TOM 2015

There's been reference to new routes to Split and Djerba. Do we know the full picture now for MAN in 2015 in terms of any new routes, extra frequencies or
routes dropped for next summer, particularly on long haul, or has the information for MAN not been released yet?

TCX

From what I saw/heard,

TCX A330's will operate 3 weekly JFK and 2 weekly MIA
BOS I haven't heard of as yet

not a clue as to why they are doing it or even who for because it doesn't fit in with their "charter" profile at all

and strange that they haven't announced it in an all singing/all dancing way rather than let it drip out in the news slowly

A330 upgrades

As already noted, Delta switching from B767 to A332 from 28th October.

Air Transit will now use the A330 on 4 out of 6 weekly Toronto flights rather than 2 weekly A330 and 4 weekly A310.

Lastly, American Airlines will use the A330-300 on the Philadelphia flight rather than the A330-200 from 28th October.

I hear PIA are increasing flights from MAN. Not sure if it's one or two extra per week depends on which rumor you believe. They have announced a withdrawal of the twice weekly LBA/ISB service which I believe had good loads due to non availability of fuel efficient aircraft. I read that as the retirement of the remaining airworthy A310s. Good news for MAN.

PIA are already 5 weekly from the date LBA stops. Im not sure if any other flights will be added, as there were rumours of daily ISB, and the only days the PK701/702 do not operate are Wed and Sat, which co-incidently are the 2 days LBA operated.

Whether flights get added on those 2 days remains to be seen.

CX = T2
Thank goodness they have seen sense, although it does technically mean CX now operate out of 2 terminals given the codeshares with BA.
