Keep up the good work you provide us with good information on the happenings at BFS. You saw what you saw and recorded it here on a post, I think it's called the right to free speech.

Unprofitable Belfast dragging Easyjet down
A spokesman defended the restructuring and said: "It's important that certain airports don't drag down the company."

unprofitable belfast for EZY? may i see the evidence from which you have based that statement on?
some easyJet staff at BFS are on fixed term contracts... just means some of them wont get contracts renewed... which makes sense due to the fact there is only 5 base aircraft in winter, with the first airbus base aircraft arriving in December... as for route cuts i dont think BFS will be effected, unless some of the LTN rotations but thats highly unlikely... and a new route is due in Jan 2010..
easyJet is commited to BFS.. as its one of their better stations, probably due to the amount of domestic routes they can run from it... in saying that theres always the possibility of change as things are now unpredictable although passenger numbers were up at BFS in the last few months compared to last year
servisair has been down-sizing at BFS recently... Jet2 contract is apparently up for renewal soon hopefully they get the contract again, because without Jet2 it would be difficult to run a profitable operation at BFS in winter, lots of equipment heading to DUB.. aviance rumored to be looking at "split shifts"

Tigger, Having met Meeson recently, i can assure you Jet2 are safe in BFS, and even the charters to Spain are getting excellent loads.
Would be sad to see people being cut loose from the Menzies/Easyjet lot
Saw GSM was late in again :P i assume its just playing catch up?

It wasn't a matter of BFS putting a ban in place, why would they? There never were any plans for the A380 to overfly or land at BFS in the first place! I saw it at BHD and an impressive sight it was too particularly on the second pass!

Ive no idea why the airport wouldnt want it either, it would be great for publicity, alas im only passing on the info from the airport.
If im right in saying there was little or no news of the A380 going to Eglinton, but a quick look on youtube and someone caught it on video today

NWSRG,
You obviously weren't standing where I was when the A380 went past! There was some noise out of her on the second pass, when she powered up and climbed!
All the best,
MRA.

i was referring to the ground handling contract for Jet2, not the airlines future at BFS
well red arrows done a few fly-bys today, only noticed the one round 1800 along runway 17, unfortunately they didnt use 25... eurofighter had an impressive take off lifted off just before bravo and went straight up with the afterburners on... very impressive aircraft

Trigger.. you say Servisair have downsized recently, would this not be natural at this time of year with the main summer programmes either finished or running down. Or does their downsizing go beyond that?

Thanks for that Trigger. Did I read on an earlier thread somewhere that Servisair Dublin were taking Aviance business down there. Could this be the reason for shifting equipment. Mind you it wouldnt be the first time Dublin imported equipment and staff from Belfast who were left to "survive". Hope they can !
