I thought the BFS-LHR route as always 3 times daily? Replacing the SSN-LHR slots exactly?
I thought they were RAISING it to 4 times daily at some point when the civil service contract comes into force?
Maybe wrong...

Be Lgw-bhd
Hi,
No problem. For FlyBe, 4 flights each weekday is correct.
They had the same number of movements this July as in July 08. In fact, they had slightly less capacity this year because they had a few more Dash-8 movements on the route than in July 08 (although the vast majority are still E195s). So, yes, FlyBe's growth on this route is entirely attributable to fuller planes.
@MUFC_Fan: On LHR-BFS, Aer Lingus operated 4 flights per day from April 2008 to October 2008. The 4th flight hasn't yet been reinstated.

cant really compare the EZY LGW stats to this time last year... since only 1 LGW rotation per day (excluding saturday) is a 319, the rest is carried out by 737s so on average 15-20 seats per day less than last year.. unless the stats already take this into consideration?
PAX numbers are definately up on some routes from last year, while others are roughly the same, but there is a slight reduction on the frequency of some domestic routes..
i think the days of comparing loads/yeilds to the year before is over due to the schedule changes (mainly reductions)... altho in saying that i think EZY is expecting improvements in the number of people travelling this month compared to last year

BE Shining on BHD LGW
Such a turnaround in Flybe performance on the LGW route. Why so?
Was there something significant going on in the LGW area during the month that meant one off boom in numbers? This certainly isnt reflected on BFS LGW!
Part of me thinks that Flybe has has lower fares, and I also believe that that the 195 has been received very well.
Easyjet seem to have been the biggest losers on the Belfast London route since Ryanair and Aer Lingus arrived. Interesting to see Bmi figures showing growth.
So Flybe and Bmi both saw growth and all 3 BHD London routes did well....??

Business passengers probably, 1. airline (perks available-business class/frequency of flights) 2. airport (BHD vs BFS if there are options from both to specific destination airport) 3. Price. Point 1 probably decides for most.

While pegging it through BHD this morning to catch my flight I noticed a large display just inside the entrance with plans of the terminal post-improvements ('making the Best even better' or something?). Didn't have enough time for a closer peek, are these plans online anywhere?

well more headaches for EZY at BFS today and another A319 parked up for the night after being grounded (some sort of damage spotted).. parked on stand 11... aircraft from East Mids is due to take out the passengers to LPL.. so either LPL or EMA will be 1 EZY 319 down come the morning
also work as started on stands 12-15 to add much needed lighting

600 jobs go at Manchester as Ryanair slash their base
Just a little reminder of FR's ability to ravage an existing base if they don't get their way. BHD - beware .......

Manchester however is not a base nor was... yes sad to see withdrawl of routes however. Must keep the route planners busy rescheduling all the routes/aircraft.

FR seem to be happy to increase capacity on existing routes ex BHD rather than introduce new routes which will have to wait until the runway extension happens. EMA gets a third daily rotation from the start of the winter season likewise LPL, as recently announced, gets three daily from the same date.

What makes you so sure that the extension will happen. There are 3 options, 1. refusal (which people seem to forget about) 2. Approval and 3 Public enquiry. Even if option 2 comes out of the planning system, the minister in charge can over-rule the decision. With most MLA's, Belfast City Council etc wanting a full public enquiry you may well find that the minister will go with a public enquiry. If he doesn't BFS will no doubt delay the process with a challenge which could lead to a judicial review. Also the residents may just say enough is enough, with not one victory under their belt they could start blocking the Sydneham by-pass!!!! and we all know were that leads to.

was a german tornado that landed today and headed over to the RAF base, looked like it had external tanks on the wings.... was bit wierd as they usually fly in pairs (well all the ones i have seen) think it departed a couple of hours later... yesterday there was some variant of a c-130 which came on approach to R25 before aborting and disappearing in the clouds and never appeared again
servisair must have been understaffed or caught out on a croatian airlines flight, took them 10mins to put the front steps in, and then chock it ( wrong order boys )
seems they are putting a couple of new drains in as well as the lighting
